If you play Roulette, your chance of Red or Black is the same on EVERY roll (statistically) -- but if you roll 10 times and bet Black each time, your chance of getting a Black in there SOMEWHERE is better than if you rolled once, true statistics be damned.

Not unlike "putting yourself in contention" for a major enough times is typically enough to get these guys over the hump.

That's actually the most famous example of the gambler's fallacy:

The gambler's fallacy is the mistaken belief that if something happens less frequently than normal during some period, it will happen more frequently in the future (presumably as a means of balancing nature).

The most famous example occurred in a game of roulette at the Monte Carlo Casino on August 18, 1913, when the ball fell in black 26 times in a row. This was an extremely uncommon occurrence, although no more or less common than any of the other 67,108,863 sequences of 26, red or black. Gamblers lost millions of francs betting against black, reasoning incorrectly that the streak was causing an "imbalance" in the randomness of the wheel, and that it had to be followed by a long streak of red.

But, and this should go without saying, anyone who thinks this principle has any application to winning the NCAA tournament is an insufferable prick and can **** off.

I understand the laws, I just don't subscribe to them all the time. I've seen a color run for 8-10 times in a row on a few occasions, but it's far from the norm.

If I hop on a table and see 7 straight of a color, you bet your *** I'm going the other way for a few rolls, and hard. No different than me switching seats or other stupid **** I do when watching a UK game when necessary. **** is real -- that's my story...

Agree on that -- same thing the XM College boys were talking about. The Gods don't like that stuff.

Btw, those guys are AWESOME. Childers, Coach Tom Brennan, etc. I worship that show during March, seems like they're live 24 hours per day. Seth Greenberg & Horowitz as well.

Lockheed has offices across the street from the Richmond Rd Hoots and a factory compound in the middle of nowhere off 64.

Either way you'll be fine.

Mason is just unguardable -- what a progression of a career, really. I used to hate his game.

He's got Fox speed, silly tight handles, and is also the best shooter in the Big 12, and probably the best off-the-dribble shooter in the country.

It's a one game deal, but KU looks pretty scary relative to this field right now. :eyes:

Purdue showing why "give it to ______" when the blank isn't a ballhandler has its perils.

A weak side defender doesn't have to worry about the player he is guarding. He can just wait for the chance to jump on a predictable pass.

After watching Oregon/Michigan and Gonzaga/WVU, it's kind of jarring to watch Purdue. They're not tough enough or smart enough to be here. Just don't belong this deep in the tournament. They just happen to have some tall dudes, and yeah, Swanigan is a beast. But they just don't belong here.

Also, Kansas is good. But the above is still true.

Purdue is a terrible matchup because of their guards, but Kansas would do this to anybody in the field on this night.

I've loved Oregon all year. They can match Kansas athleticism and versatility. Just got to hope Graham and Mason stop making every shot.

LOL. You're the biggest whiny ***** in the universe. It's unreal.

KANSAS CHEATS!!! THIS IS NOT FAIR!!!

Are you not watching them play actual basketball? Do you remember them playing Kentucky in LEXINGTON a few months ago at Dunbar HS? Or the Rec Center? Can't remember where it was, but they came to Lexington and punked our ***.

Stop being a stupid homer. They're good, deal with it.

- WVU win means profit in the Calcutta. Plus I love cheering for them. Feel like they're my solid second team.

- Things my grandfather hated:
• Japan
• Cassius Clay (refused to call him by his "dodger name"
• The University of Louisville

That's it. That's the list.

- Leftover CFA sauce from my post call breakfast this morning...incredible wing sauce. Mercy.

- Nashville real estate. Christ. Trying to live downtown but the prices are nuts.

- 2001 Explorer I've had since I was 16 is on her last leg. Think I'll be able to hold out a few months but damn that'll be a sad day. High school, college road trips, tailgates, winter storms up here. Been through a lot.

But I'm sure the 2016 explorer I'm planning on replacing with will be a nice coping mechanism.

All good until the last sentence. By any chance, are you a doctor?

Agree. If not, they'd probably already be out. They're not playing good ball, thank God for the Refs and some fans in the stands.

Kentucky all the way !

"Stunting." "Dazzle."

[sick]

NOBODY TALKS LIKE THAT, MATTHEW.

Yep, Kansas looks damn good, and they were my pick to win it. But the way all these sportswriters just fangirl over whatever is NOW, what's HOT!!! . . .

Yeah, I remember rolling into NOLA in 1993 with the Cats riding the largest average victory margin in the first 4 rounds of any team in tournament history . . .

So, as Warren Wolf says in Pulp Fiction, let's not start s****** each other's ***** just yet, OK Matt?

It only takes one game.

Don't tell that to GYERO's favorite frontrunner.

Margin of Victory

R64: 38 (100-62)
R32: 20 (90-70, Michigan St)
R16: 32 (98-66, Purdue)

Frontrunner. [laughing] I've been on record for MONTHS now (to your constant ridicule) saying KU was the team to beat -- do they look like it or nah? Who does?

I watch Basketball. You picked Kentucky to win it all. #sharp

Lucky bastards!

Of course it only takes one game. They could lose next round -- but that doesn't mean they aren't the best team playing ball right now, b/c they CLEARLY are (after Kentucky, of course)

Wyvern, don't let BBdK tell you what to do. F*ck that guy.

awww - he's a nice dude (when he's not going all "Ike Turner" and drunkenly beating people of course).....besides.....I basically forgot about the games tonight and my posts were the equivalent of some cross-eyed idiot stumbling into the room with their pants around their ankles and toilet paper in their hair........while asking for your confidence to work at a local missile works .... type place....

Not crowning anybody. It's the NCAA Tournament, they could easily choke just like Kentucky, North Carolina, Duke, (and Kansas) have so many times. That's the NCAAT

But that doesn't change the fact they are playing the best ball of any team in the tournament, and it's not particularly close. You acted like I was an idiot for suggesting they were a 'favorite' beginning in December b/c of whatever they did in whatever year. You were wrong.

Sorry that hurts your feelings buddy.

This all started with me calling you out for your typical homer REFS ARE ******** THEY ARE CHEATING routine. It's truly pathetic, makes you sound like the women and poser sports fans you never stop railing on. Do better. Watch basketball.

I hate Kansas.

Alkins is so damn Cal-looking #norichie

Xavier is so game. Those guys look like they expect to win, per usual -- and are (and have been) down two of their best players & PG stud. Mack would be a great hire for IU, win or lose, dude is unreal.

I hold sports grudges forever
Still hate Arizona for 1997 -- so I'm hoping HAH-VEE-EYER wins

Would be cool to drop someone and schedule them annually too
