Pretty cool few days of hoops with my Pops.

My uncle and dad go every year and get digs at the Hyatt and just do it up. This year my uncle's health wouldn't allow him to make it, so my dad asked me to come down (the room is non-refundable). I couldn't say "no", but I thought it was going to suck, added to the fact that I take off Thurs-Fri every March to get wasted and watch the tourney.

I had a blast and really enjoyed the time with my old man.

That Ohmer kid for Scott has to be higher caliber than Cumberland College, no? And the 8th grader at Bowling Green has a little Ulis in him. Doubt he stays at BG. Needs higher competition to reach his potential.

Made it back to Indy yesterday for the game. Paid $200 to get in and then made friends with a Michigan dude who threw me 11th row seats for $20 . This was one of the best weeks of Bball I've experienced. Right up there with the Lucas Oil games in 2014.

Duke got so lucky again this year. Kentucky got to face a mid major in round 2, and Duke got paired up against a better seeded power conference team. I swear Kentucky gets all the breaks.

Yep. Kentucky got a lucky break playing a mid major that, in the last 4 seasons had been to a Final Four and had been an undefeated #1 overall seed, and they had the longest win streak in the country going in to this tourney while Duke had to play a team that had never won more than once in its NCAA Tournament history.

^Sarcasm meter, Padre.

So my grandfather, big time UK fan, passed away about 8 months ago- so my grandmother was apparently taking the post season pretty tough. Watching games together was one of their things... So my dad and his other siblings took her up to Indy for the games. She hadnt been to a game in person since the 98 National Championship. Per sources, she was all over the place up there- really living it up. Rocking a real throwback UK sweatshirt that she says was signed by Cawood at one time but has since worn off.

I've got a ticket with my dad for the weekend but need to work out some work stuff to get out early enough on Friday.

* The opening weekend is damn near perfect, but there is one tweak the committee has to make asap...

....don't waste a 5 hour window on Saturday and Sunday only showing two games. You have this buildup from Thursday and Friday, then you pull the rug out to start the second round. It's like being on a coke bender for 48 hours then suddenly switching gears and going with decaf coffee.

Plus, it's joke to have games going until 12:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday night. #old

Start the first game at noon, then fire up another one every hour.

And on that note, cut out the interlude between 5:00 and 7:00 on T/F. Nobody gives a crap about what's going on in the world that weekend, so don't act we need to eat our proverbial news vegetables by breaking there.

* Have Sportscenter on several tv's here in the office and every time I look over, the anchors are discussing their brackets and yucking it up about who's got more right [eyeroll]

Hey dickbags, most people have already incinerated their bracket after yesterday, what makes you think they give a rip about your whiffs?

* "...I forgot to get this validated!" has been stuck in my head for a week. Gonna need a lobotomy before our run is over.

* Think Cal has learned not to let Gabriel see the court until Midnight Madness? Yeah, me neither.

* Perfect amount of shot attempts from Briscoe yesterday. Didn't try to dominate; deferred to Fox, played gritty D.

* Any way we can have that Giga hoss from Jack St. grad transfer in next year? Dude was smooth, stepping out hitting 3's. Running the court and not looking like a newborn calf (looking at you Wenyen), posting, passing. Poor mans Porzingis.

Took me half the season to realize he was wearing compression leggings. They just... match.

Butler is a classic trap game for UNC. Mid-major not getting any attention or love, yet they beat Nova twice and Arizona. Hope they get caught looking ahead.

Cal returning to Memphis for the first time since coaching will be a media-created subplot. Already mentioned by Gary Parrish.

I don't watch UK Hoops much at all. But Makayla Epps playing her last game for UK sucks. She's arguably (probably) the best player in the program's history, and her coach didn't do her any favors the past 2 seasons of his turmoil. She deserved to go out better without her coach running off half the team and leaving her and the team under(wo)manned. I don't know if Mitchell has anything coming back next year at all, but I suspect his tenure might've fallen off the cliff with Epps' departure.

I admit I was a fool for craping on Butler earlier in the year. They do everything well, including not giving up second chance points and excellent transition defense.

Two things that could push them past Carolina.

To see this group thrive in ugly grind out games is a testament to coaching. May not be pretty but when teams take away your transition stuff and to see guys who couldn't guard a statue in January get their noses dirty, get stops, board and and blocks is fulfilling.
Nah, I'm tired of the Cal experiment. Exhausting.

Glad you finally got to see them play for the first time. Highly recommend when analyzing teams on a Message Board filled with college basketballs.

Lol People magazine is running the KSR/crazy ***** story online.

It's not the fact she's a crazy redneck woman, it's the fact the NCAA tried to make KSR take this down, and threaten their credentials? Wtf, get pumped. NCAA is always ridiculous. I don't even see what they had to do with any of this. Let Bankers Life throw her out. Who gives a crap. She's the wife of a damn Wichita St coach. Nobody cares.
post game underdog locker room videos are the best, man

Beileine busted in the locker room with a super soaker LMAO that was *fun*.

Man, and Wagner, he was *fun*.

Pitino was salty. Blamed it on his players because....they didn't listen to him!!! LMAO That was *fun* to hear.

I can't stand these salty prick coaches. Pitino, Boeheim, and K are the epitome of salty ******* douches, and I love watchving them fail. They can't take it.

I hate Mike Anderson, and he and his team are garbage, but at least he fights for his team, and doesn't act like he knows wtf he's doing. All heart. Maybe if K had a little more fight, his super talented team's would crumble when things get real tough.

Respect Roy for that reason. He's got heart, that goofy bastard.

Pitino in ultimate Pitino fashion throwing his kids under the bus. It was all their fault. They didn't do the little things like boxing out and focusing on defense when shots aren't falling. He also said they gave the game away and beat themselves and didn't want to acknowledge how well Michigan played.

He apparently has already told everyone Mitchell is not going pro immediately after the game was over

I'm all for Pitino bashing, but Mitchell himself said he can't wait to come back and "win the championship"

Nothing anyone says in the heat of the moment, postgame, carries any weight regardless.

K just sits there and smirks -- acts like everything that happens to his teams are complete screwjobs, when in fact it's almost always the opposite.

Pretty much can't stand him these days. Biggest bully in sports, and nobody will call him on it.
He's awful, and his kids act like complete maniacs when things go against them. How Jefferson didn't get T'd up or tossed is beyond me. Screw the whole lot of them.
