This is the play I mentioned last night.

Again, when games are officiated like that, why bother overanalyzing? Our guys found a way to fight through it and win. That's the only lesson to be learned from the shitshows we typically see in conference road games.

Why have they not given the pregame show to Matt Jones yet? It is objectively much better.

- Going into district Tuesday without 6 of my preseason top 8 guys.
- One of the injured guards came back two weeks ago, played 2 games, and was concussed last Friday. Still is seeing "stars" and is light sensitive/nauseous.
- Another senior guard, who's been relatively healthy all year and is tough as nails, injured his knee warming up during senior night. Needs it scoped to clean up a meniscus and MCL tear suffered about a year and a half ago. Cartilage is rubbing and he just couldn't tough it out any longer.
- Kicked a guy off to start January.
- 2 ACLS from football and a PG still injured from a hyperextention in January.

- My car was sideswiped in the parking lot during a rivalry game about 3 weeks ago. I was in the middle of putting the scouting report on the board when an assistant comes in and breaks the news to me.
- My son has 2 stitches in his head from where he fell back out of his seat in class last week and banged a bookshelf.
- He just now puked in the middle of church service right after the offertory prayer. Cleared out 3 rows.

- Anybody want to go to the casina?

The pregame call in show is awful, was awful, and will always be awful. It has basically been the same collection of a dozen or so callers making score predictions and asking idiotic questions my entire life. A better or different host is just lipstick on the pig.

Hence turning it over to Matt Jones. It would be listenable then.

Lynn Bowden will be better than Randall Cobb.

From what I've been told they're expecting a Percy Harvin type, with more weapons around him than Cobb had(he had to do everything, we'll have guys to help Bowden). It's not his speed, but his change of direction that is other worldly. But yeah he's fast as f*ck too.

Everyone who watches WLEX, Hey Kentucky, and listens to the pregame show please report back to Rupp Rafters.

Thanks.

Hey Kentucky is good A-hole

--- The Pregame Show is basically impossible to make good. It exists only to sell commercials (which is true about all shows but at least most shows have some desire to have good content...that one doesn't). Everyone involved knows that they could make it 5,000 times better by some simple changes but the inertia of the whole thing makes no one take the step to do it. I actually think when Rex doesn't sing, he is doing a good job. But it isn't set up for anyone to really succeed on it. I did it because (a) it was pretty damn cool for me to do the Pregame show for UK Basketball and (b) I love Oscar and enjoyed talking with him. But as far as actual enjoyment of doing the show, it is probably the least fun job I have had....including dealing with Jeff Goodman daily at CBS. Throw in the political BS (Mitch McConnell tried to get me fired from it once) and the calls from Bob in Jamestown and it is what it is

--- Watching Cal have to pretend he likes Derek Willis now makes me smile. Derek has moved from "Guys Cal hates" category (Orton, Harrow, Lee) to "Guys that frustrate the hell out of Cal but he tolerates because he needs them" (Harrellson, James Young, Skal).

--- Talked to 2 NBA scouts this week that were in Lexington...the verdict both had was the same....Monk and Fox are both top 8 picks, Bam top 20 and Briscoe might to get drafted...apparently in scout world, Briscoe has a bad reputation, not just for his play but personality. They both basically led by asking me, "Is it true Briscoe is a ****." Hard to answer as I know Calipari loves him and I don't talk to the guys on this team. But that is certainly the reputation he is getting in NBA world...which you don't want to have when you are borderline prospect.

--- I have worked now for three TV stations, two radio conglomerates, IMG, JMI, CBS and a newspaper (a bit). Not just saying this bc Sloot is here, but none of them have their stuff together like WLEX. Nobody may care about this bc it is such inside baseball but they are the best run place in the state, with no support or real relationship with UK. It is pretty damn amazing actually (kind of inside baseball, but you folks post about your babies and I know this has to be interesting to at least someone, while your baby...not your baby specifically but really every baby....is interesting to no one).

--- I am going to run against Mitch McConnell in 4 years and if I do, the two main driving factors in my desire to win are (1) to take out the most powerful politician this state has seen since Henry Clay and do so in a way that will defy the critics who believe it is impossible (everyone)...or if I lose have a damn good time trying, because if you are going to run for something, why not go at the King and (2) because of how mad it will make UKO...I actually don't know who he is, have never met him and have no idea his history. But he is that bad of an internet message board poster, so I feel like it will be worth it.

With that, back to the All Star Game

Are you going to run as a Republican in the primary?

Haha that would be a no...Dems are in such disarray now that it means I could do it my way with very little impact from state party folks. It actually is the only method with which I would ever want to run for anything...my way without being told what to do.

Plus while it is VERY difficult for a Dem to win a statewide race here, it isn't impossible. In maybe the worst year for Democrats ever in Ky and with a Trump phenomenon, Paul beat Gray 57-43...Rand is more popular in this state than Mitch by a lot. All u gotta do is flip 7% of the electorate.

Plus Drew Franklin working on my campaign ads is worth it anyway. Here is what I have learned talking politics on KSR:

(1) Lots of people don't like it, but numbers show more like it than act like it

(2) Criticize Trump and a good number of people complain...criticize Bevin and fewer people complain but some still will....you can say anything about Mitch and no one cares. Even the people that like him, hate him

McConnell will be 78 in 2020. He may retire. If Trump's presidency ends up being a complete **** show, he will definitely retire rather than face the indignity of being beaten in an election.

Just think you'd have a better chance running as a moderate Republican than as a Democrat. This state has gone Red.

Haha well I am not a Republican, and certainly the version of the GOP now running the show (Milo is the keynote at CPAC).

Still a lot of Dems in this state who vote Red...people forget that. Lot of those are rural folks, especially in the mountains and Western part of the state. A Republican primary would not be friendly to me

Political talk? Here? This won't end well... Someone's going to burn GYERO/Utica to the ground.

I didn't realize Lee was in the "hated" category to the level of Orton & Harrow. I mean, he didn't develop like we thought, but wow.

Any scuttle on what's up w/ SKJ?

I am told he just sucks in practice...like sucks on a level that no one could have foreseen...also apparently a little bit of a different kid....kind of like Willie. Willie was helped however by having a lot of similar personalities on the team but I am told that really on Tai is like SKJ so that may be part of it. Hard to believe because I saw him in early season practices and he looked like one of the 3 best players on the team

I'll tell you what's up with SKJ------>HE SUCKS.

Pretty simple. As I said previously, he is THE biggest 5* McDonald's AA bust we've had since Cal has been here, and it's not close.

Could he turn that around? Of course, but right now----->bigger bust than Skal.

As soon as SK-J's mother's Twitter got publicity I could tell he was going to be a different kid.

Just in case Mags wants random message board political/life advice...

The only way you should run for office is to create an entirely new political party, or be an independent with a clear platform. That's the only way you get more power than what you currently have.

You've already moved in that direction with the NKP...just go full hog and try to be a revolutionary.

Or,

Be another Dem in the eyes of the majority of this state's population. Knowing you just gave up a sweet gig with the ear of the Commonwealth at your disposal.
