Let's not forget our advanced metrics boy Luke Winn.

Bet he's like Richie and calls out *every* ticky tack foul during pickup.

Somebody needs to tell Lukey that he can't pick and choose what advanced stats he wants to swear by. His Kansas crush this year ignores their unworthy defense.

"Guys, there's no way we're winning the YMCA D league this year if we're only scoring 0.88 points per possession! We have to get it up to at least 0.97 points to have a chance! Does no one here watch basketball?"

When journalists started to seek to become a part of the story, rather than report the story, the entire line of work jumped the shark. This isnt just limited to sports journalists. Its nearly all of them anymore. Just because they buy ink by the barrel doesnt make them any more credible than the guy on the barstool next to you.

Friday 5:
Paul Simon- Me and Julio
Van Morrison- Caravan
The Band- Ophelia
Red Hot Chili Peppers- Give it Away
Sublime- Doin Time

- I've noticed quite a few pieces of late- didn't read them because F those guys- by sports writers talking about why it's perfectly acceptable now for sportswriters to talk politics- which it isn't. It may be different if it wasn't all one big liberal circlejerk, but that's all it is, one more way for that group to act high-and-mighty and smarter and morally superior than Average Sports Fan. You're a lucky SOB doing a job that a quarter of the male population could probably adequately handle. Shove your bully pulpit up your ***.

- Mine:

Bailando- Enrique Iglesias
The Promise- Sturgill Simpson
No Easy Way Out- Robert Tepper
XO- John Mayer
Love Me Tender- Norah Jones

I feel like in an effort to combat the prior generation of sports writers who have/had almost no respect or understanding of analytics, douchebags like Norlander, Dauster, and Winn have completely swung the pendulum in the other direction and are far too reliant on advanced metrics. Efficiency ratings are just another tool, not the secret formula. Here's KenPom's current top ten:

1 Gonzaga
2 Villanova
3 Virginia
4 West Virginia
5 Louisville
6 Florida
7 Kentucky
8 Baylor
9 Kansas
10 North Carolina

At least half of those teams (in italics) have virtually no shot at winning the national championship. Left out are Arizona, Duke, Oregon, and UCLA. I'd take those four to win more combined tournament games than the other five right now bracket unseen.

-Again, anyone thinking Gonzaga sucks b/c they've faltered in the past obviously has not watched them play and/or isn't familiar with their players. They may get beat again, as 67 other teams will -- but they are loaded. Most definitely a top 5 contender.

Ha.

That's a stupid bet for any team, especially this season.

They have more talent than Kentucky. :100points:

They're just built differently this year. Not as many jumpshooters. Much more athleticism and quickness in the backcourt and on the wings. And the big Pol is one helluva anchor.

They have Big guards, wings who can score, and 4 legit big men who all give you different things.

"Not as many jumpshooters" in the traditional sense...but their WORST 3 point shooter is Jordan Matthews at 38.5%. NWG is at 38.6%, and the other 5 rotation players are 40+%. That's unreal, as is their balance in general.

Who knows what will happen in March, as always -- but they are as good as anyone this season.

All of my eggs will be firmly in the Gonzaga basket if/when Kentucky bows out of the tournament. The sportswriter geeks will be annoying, but that's an easy pill to swallow considering the other contenders this year.

I meant they're not full of the traditional one-dimensional (white) Zags gunners.

Kennard seems likable enough despite spurning UK (supposedly) to become the next great white hype at Duke but I just can't get past him messing with his hair all the time. FYI it is indeed receding, bub. Just deal.

Awful.

-RACK SAE. Got that dude back in 2015 fashion. Ornery as all get out. He took great care of our commercial needs. Send him some bidness.

-Don't know what they'll do in March but I do the Zags continue to cover. 85% in the last 15. Very appreciative.

<--been at a craps table with Cal(and JoeyP) and watched at a craps table with Roy. #namedroppin Roy actually seems like a decent enough guy outside of his blatant cheating.

-Tubby loves him some blues, I'm sure he's in heaven in Memphis. Not sure he'd be my first pick for sharing a drink or two but not a bad choice.
-If you could actually get Cal out of Cal mode, assuming sharing a beer would be that, I think it would be intriguing as hell in an off the record conversation. I know he does drink, I've just never seen it.

-Early workouts. If you can get in the groove are just game changers.

-Taking a few of the work peeps out tonight because they crushed it. I don't typically fraternize much with my work peeps but this event is always a great time.

-LOL at seeing Ursch in action. I guess it's been awhile since you've actually partied with Ursch. Let me remind you how this works.

Ursch drinks 8+ MLs then at best proceeds to find a very normal looking 45 year old lady and holds hands with her while dancing with that stupid f*cking grin on his face. OR he finds a really awful chick and makes out with her for a couple nights in a row and probably plows her in the bathroom or alley. Regardless he ends up passed out on his back, stupid f*cking grin still plastered on his face, sportscenter blaring, fully clothed, hands down pants holding his johnson. By day 2.5 he's done.

Dude can absolutely pull high quality but not when he's out partying. At least not in the numerous times I've been with him. Now if you want to go watch his 10am game on soccer moms at the local Starbucks, that would be impressive.

Anyone in Louisville that can paint a golf cart at a bargain? Everything I read says it's much more difficult than you'd think, w/ regards to the sanding/stripping & other intricacies involved -- not to mention I'd rather do just about anything in life rather than paint.

* 4 Day weekend for Big Daddy. Boss ordered me to take a couple of extra days off due to the hours I've been working.

* Wife works from home on Fridays, so ol' Wildcat Willy had romance on his mind. Charged up the vibe & got out the massage oil. Today was going to be the Valentine's Date we didn't have this week.

(buzzer sound)

Due to the number of students and faculty with flu and strep, St. Columban will be closed today and a professional cleaning service will be brought in to sterilize the school.

So instead of reenacting my favorite massage porn scenes with my wife, I'll be taking the 6-yr old to the park, the fish store and the Disney Store.

Which really ain't bad, either, TBH.

* Soooo, about to head to some fish store where they have a 17,000 gallon aquarium with black-tip sharks in it. Cool.

* Been working out at 10pm. In a nice groove. There is usually just one old asian dude (not Booker) and a young lady who would be absolutely perfect if it wasn't for her nose. Both of them obviously know their way around a gym.

Occasionally, there are some straight up weirdos who come in that late, though. I honestly worry a little bit when I leave and it is just the young chick and them.

* Super nice family lives across the street from me. They have two grade school aged daughters and have been the foster parents of a little boy since he was a month old (over 2 yrs now).

They have been trying to get permanent custody for a long time. Last week they expected that to happen. (buzzer sound)

The judge ordered the child to be delivered to his dead beat dad the very next day. The poor kid is being taken from the only family he has ever known for someone who wanted nothing to do with him for the last 2 years. Pisses me off and breaks my heart at the same time.

* Happy Friday dickwads. Cayts by 8. And touch Gonzaga. We're winning it all this year.

I'm sure Booker can speak more on it but the foster child/social services scene is really really tough. We went through it with my sister(cousins) and it was unbelievable.

Louisville ain't going to do ****. The selection committee will get all cutesy again and put us in the same bracket with them and like previous years we will crush their souls.

He's a pretty terrible poster but certainly a great dude. I like when he stops by and drops of about 3 dozen airplane bottles of booze. If he keeps bringing 19 kids to the tailgate I'm going to up it 5 dozen.
