- Disagree that every single song Beyonce has done being garbage. She has some good pop songs. Agree she's ridiculously overrated, her fans are awful and that thing last night was stupid. She's not and never has been on the level of Mariah or Whitney, and I'd argue Rihanna is better as well.

- "Kansas gets past Texas Tech on a controversial no-call" :joy: Of course, they did.

- Want to see the same defensive intensity and discipline tomorrow...and hopefully fewer airballs. Time to build.

- How is North Carolina #5? :joy:

- Of course, we're in the region of death.

- Interesting year- the 1s aren't scary.

- MaxP- who?

- Boca was ridiculous. Just love the atmosphere of that place and Sotto.

Congrats on being on the side of UKO, dickwad.

Want to be like the guy who is anti-blowjob in the single parent thread, too?

Christ almighty. Terrible take.

Beyonce has proven once and for all how self important ridiculous "artist" groups are. Her album was pure ****, but luckily for her -- it covered a lot of hot button social issues. Infidelity, police brutality, women's rights, domestic abuse....

So, there's basically a fine line between "complete garbage," and "OMG what a brave album you are so daring and inspirational!!"

I realize this winter has been mild, but it can still GTFO. It was really nice hearing the birds chirp yesterday. 3-4 weeks away, but Spring is coming. The weather this upcoming weekend is going to be [cheers]:cool2:[smoke]. Bring it on!!!

I'm all for not freezing to death and all but I'll be honest, it was a little unnerving walking around Washington Park on 2/12 in a vest.

My dad made the trip down for the game over the weekend- always nice to have him in town for a bit. Had some beers, watched some hoops, snuck in a round of golf. Pretty cool.

One of the worst UK basketball game atmospheres I can ever recall. Crowd was barely audible. And the "sell-out" was a few thousand short. The only noise came from UK fans, and when Alabama fans were mock-cheering their own team when they made a free throw.

The officiating is so bad to watch up close. I honestly sympathize with coaches and players. There is no way to prepare for a game when the way its called is so inconsistent.

If you want a real good barbecue chip, this is a high level snack... Just the right amount of flavor, texture is a tried and true formula... near perfect and close to the Grippo which remains top dog.

My mother, against my advice, got a Yorkie yesterday. 8 weeks old, weighs about 2 pounds. Cute little guy, but give me a dog that will chase a tennis ball, run a few miles with me, snatch up disoriented birds, etc...

The Grammy's per twitter, either the greatest thing ever or the absolute worst thing ever. Not much in between.

Homeland started off slow but last nights episode picked up some steam. Needs to come strong again to keep me invested. Billions first episode of season 2 was also really good. Im a big Paul Giamatti guy.

* When Adele spent her entire acceptance speech apologizing for winning and kissing Beyonce's ***, she should've had the award revoked immediately. Embarrassing. (In her defense, maybe she was just scared that Kanye was going to run up on stage and take it from her and give it to Beyonce.)

* Combine Saturday's defensive effort with the offensive efficiency we saw early in the season, and you have a team that can win it all.

* Billy Joel actually wasn't terrible. I still don't like his music, but there's something to be said for being that kind of showman. Dude knows how to put on a concert. (Disclosure: I had no idea "Shameless" was his song, even though Garth did it better.)

* Over the past 10 years, I've dropped enough cash in New Orleans to send at least 2 of my kids to college. Ridiculously expensive meals + being drunk for 48 consecutive hours is a dangerous mix.

* Go Syracuse.

The rule changes that have been implemented in the past three years have finally started to all gel with the players and coaches. That's produced the fastest paced and highest scoring college basketball season since 1995 or so, if I could produce an unofficial statistic.

The referees are the ones who are still lagging behind. I've noticed it a lot up close at the D3 level, but it's even more evident with the D1 level - referees can't keep up with the action anymore and as such, find themselves out of position far too often to make calls, yet they still make them anyway.

And some of these guys are just too old. I feel like of the average crew that officiates a Kentucky game, at least one of them will be around my parents' age. My dad is 61 and my mom is 59. Of those guys, the only one who's in shape enough to do a decent job is Ted Valentine, whose problem is not that he is out of shape, but that he is Ted Valentine.

What's worse is that very rarely do they get held professionally accountable when they do a bad job. It has to be like a Rutgers Big East Tournament/Montreal Screwjob for this to happen. Little stuff like blatantly ignoring a bone crushing illegal screen on Kansas on their last play Saturday gets handwaved like nothing happened at all.

I think Jim Burr is still officiating games. Jim Burr worked games before the three-point line was created. This isn't good.

Where has Tony Greene been all season? He used to do half our damned games. Is he primarily working another league or is he semi-retired? I know this may not be popular, but I actually like him.

At all levels of ball, in all sports, there is a great shortage of referees/umpires/officials. Basically the younger generation isn't taking over when the older guys step down. The existing generation of referees is overworked, and aging. We had to increase our umpire fees 30-40% depending on age for this season. There were many games last season when we could only find 1 umpire, and often had league officials doing the games. It's kind of a dire situation tbh. And even looking up into the college ranks, we always see the same guys over and over. Probably b/c they are the best of the bunch...sadly.

Considering how awful parents and coaches are at even the tee-ball level, I can't imagine anyone wanting to be a referee/umpire.
THIS.

I knew we were at a breaking point when I saw a teenaged ref rip her jersey off and walk off the field of a U8 girls soccer game because she was tired of hearing **** from a group of parents.

Officiating at the very highest level would be a dream. They make very good money, are surrounded by famous athletes, travel first class, etc.

But every single day of your professional life before that is brutally unforgiving, thankless, underpaid crap.

Someone on Rafters posted that according to KenPom, the SEC ranks 2nd out of all 30-something CBB leagues in FTA-to-FGA ratio so its not just us UK fans. The SEC is far and away the worst of the bigtime leagues, too.

.

Adele was apologizing for messing up / cursing on air / then having to restart the George Michael tribute a little earlier.

Edit: Never mind, I'm wrong. I missed that part but just read about it. (Shouldn't have doubted NJT).

No one does just 1 game, so you have to pay for a double. You can usually convince guys to go $60-75 for a doubleheader. Getting a guy for a single game is almost impossible.

Prepare for all kinds of bellyaching about poor Gonzaga being underrated by the committee by the sportswriter geeks.

Look, I think the Zags are as good as anyone this year and they would be my top seed...BUT I can't blame anyone for being skeptical.

The most hilarious thing was Parrish ranting about how unfair it was that Gonzaga gets called out when they lose early in the NCAA but "no one says a thing if Kansas does." Umm, yes, actually we do but you hacks who cover CBB are so up Self's *** that you are the ones who ignore their two F4s in 13 years despite great seeding and fortunate midmajor draws.

This is only partially true. The biggest problem are the assignors, who are often the most sanctimonious, self-absorbed blowhards you'll ever meet. They expect referees to "pay their dues," which is a cover for "I give the big games to the guys/gals that kiss my *** the most."
