Crowd was great but a shout out to the couple in section 15, row L seats 3-4 for not standing or clapping one damn time and then to complain about me (the wife who was on facebook the entire game) for cheering loud

Nowait app is great to get text notifications and to see how many groups are in front of you

-Pretty sure Marcus went to Cal-Berkley to get a badass degree + MBA on the house.

-Whatever, moving on. Florida is essentially a must win if we want any shot at a 1.

-Saul Good with the worst meal I've had in... maybe ever. When you're hammered and a cheese burger, nachos and wings suck. Ugh.

-Nice to finally get a little winter.

We're the highest 2 on Bracket Matrix and Lunardi had us at 6th overall yesterday. I know several of us think we suck, we're screwed, we're lazy, AAU ball, it's been a fun ride Cal now go coach the Knicks. Margin is thin but still there. We have a weakass schedule left and everyone but Gonzaga is losing. 2 seed would be fine as well. Regardless, the point is @UF is a must win.

Well the nice thing is like 8 out of the top ten teams lost last week, some of them twice. Luckily we are actually down when everyone else is this year.

A 1 seed? A fng 1 seed?

Not happening. We shat that opportunity down the toilet on Saturday night.

I say this with all seriousness. NORTHWESTERN has more intimidating environment in that cracker box they play in versus the one we have in Rupp.

Some lard *** in front of me never stood the entire game except for timeouts so he could be seen and waive at people he knew. I got told to watch my language by the man next to me. Some ******* was decked out in a pink sweater midcourt 8 rows up and sat on his *** the entire night with his arms crossed. That dumbass Guinness book of world records nonsense is a fng gimmick. Could go on and on. It's a giant library compared to when we went to Phog Allen last year.

It's a total joke compared to the environments our fans creat at the neutral sights, SEC Tournaments and the NCAA tourney games like when we played at the YUM Center in 2012 and 2015.

I know the SAE's of the world will :roll eyes: at this but I'm getting more and more excited about Vanderbilt and Washington coming in next year. They'll really compliment each other well, IMO.

Head-to-head video here.

Washington has a fantastic face-up game and Vanderbilt is incredible at getting into the paint and finishing. They could definitely be a helluva interchangeable (positionless? ha) 3/4 combo. Both have really good vision, major swagger, and seem to have a high basketball ball IQ.

In light of this I hope Gabriel has a solid last 2 months to the season and has enough buzz to jump. Thanks for your time ATKOT but peace out. Not a big fan.

- My redass hatboggan is people continuing to put a ceiling on this team because they suck (right now). Hello? We've seen trash teams make runs from out of NOWHERE each and every season. There are big problems right now with half-court O but there's too much talent to sit there and say, 'Sweet 16 team, Tops.' GTFO with that ****. I'm frustrated as hell too and Lord knows Cal pisses me off more than anyone but I just don't know how you can pinpoint a team's trajectory when the NCAA effing Tournament is involved. Too many things happen.

- Speaking of Cal, super secret text thread has duly noted that some of these 'national' guys are starting to whisper about underachievement with ALL this talent and relatively little to show for it. I welcome the blow back because I think Cal got a little fat to start the year.... I think the criticism will buckle him down a bit and hopefully begin to get **** right with these guys. He's not doing a very good job in terms of A) half-court execution B) Defense (why don't we press ppl, BTW?)

- Had LASIK done a couple weeks ago and couldn't be happier with the results. Right eye is 20/15 and the left lagging behind at a clean 20/20. Commonwealth Eye Surgery, FTW. First class.

- Taking some Japanese to Merrick Inn tonight. Grouper (hata) fingers all around. Then heading to Central Mexico next week. Will I make it back across the border? Dunno but I will definitely stock up on the super cheap top shelf tequila, tho. Don Julio 70 bottle is like $25 down there. Ha. Need to get a really good bottle for my liquor cabinet so any tequila recs would be welcomed. TIA.

- Wonderful seeing the crew at the Hyatt pre-game. Bonzo is my boy- I love that guy. Thanks for the drinks, bud. I tried to look anth in the face and nod in agreement to everything he said. There wasn't enough room unfortunately to cross the arms tho... and with the LASIK done, the last thing I wanted to do was squint. Got to take it all in and see the sights.

At a game where:

1. The entire crowd belted out the National Anthem.
2. We twice broke the Guinness Book of World Records loudest arena record.

Richie thinks Northwestern has a better home court. Christ, that maybe the worst take in the history of gyero.

You don't have to stand up and yell obscenities all game to be a great fan. Northwestern, greatest home court in sports, hasn't ever been to a NCAAT. They have to get up once a decade. Rupp is spoiled and expects greatness and it knows when to get up. Duke and Kansas. That's the 2 that are certainly better consistently. Drop this dumbass argument.

Yep, and save Gonzaga all the teams around us have much more difficult roads. 1 is a stretch right now but not out of the question. Hell, several of them are going to beat each other up.

Meh, we're at best a 2 seed unless we completely run the table and everybody else loses a few. Just put us in Gonzaga's bracket, and I like my team's chances to get **** right.

Northwestern sitting at 18-4 and 7-2 in the B1G. Crazy that they've never been to the NCAAT, but it looks like this is the year. Good for them.

On the flip side, Crean is squarely on the hot seat. 8 losses before February, and the schedule ets no easier. Beating Kansas and UNC seems like a distant memory.

Winona Ryder's nuttiness aside, those breasts are still :100points:after all these years. God bless her.

Old guy at work does that Jumble puzzle on the comics page everyday. Whenever he gets stuck on a word and shows it to me, I can usually look at it and tell him the word within seconds. Pisses him off every damn time.

Century said it best the other day..."loudest" crowds happen in the moment...spontaneously. You can't manufacture craziness.

Examples...

Stevie Johnson catch. NUTSO.

Other examples...

Tayshaun 5th 3 from midcourt. NO EFFING WAY.
Chuck Hayes alley oop dunk at end of the 1st Half against Florida. Or the Barbour reverse dunk in the 2nd Half. :cool2::cool2::cool2:

John Wall making women *** in their pants against UNC. [cheers][cheers][cheers][cheers][cheers][cheers][cheers]

Anthony Davis blocking a shot at the end of the game vs. UNC. :basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball::basketball:

And from an alternative perspective...

Christian Watford hitting a shot against us at Indiana.

Now if you want to tell me that Rupp on Saturday night was louder than Assembly Hall after that shot, then go ahead. You're wrong.

* I don't think we have any shot at a #1 now, unless a lot of teams lose a lot more games.

* I had the Tokyo Burger at Saul Good right before you got there and it was excellent. So was the Crab Rangoon Flatbread.

But the highlite of my trip to Saul Good was definitely slow dancing with Anth between the tables.

* I also had carnitas last night. Family birthday party. My BIL is an excellent cook and they were on point.

* I'm going with chili and a variety of sliders at my Super Bowl Party. I don't feel like going out and firing up the smoker in the cold.

* Going to be working late a lot this week. Sold my tix for Tuesday.

* I thought we probably played our best D of the year for most of the first half. Then we reverted back to ****.

The guards were terrible. But I thought Bam was awful, too. Constantly got out of position on D. Couldn't finish thru minimal contact and then missed his FTs. Got the ball slapped away too easily in the post.

* From about 9 minutes left thru 4 minutes left was the worst we've played all season. Just handing the ball to the other team.

* Willis was hitting shots, which we desperately needed. But man, when he gave up that late stick back, I was beyond pissed. Just play with a pair, young fella.

* Somebody better make sure the oven is on so the damn cake can bake.

Some of you really don't pay attention, evidently, to how seeding works. As a refresher, here were the #1 and #2 seeds last year.....

#1
Kansas (30-4)
Oregon (28-6)
North Carolina (28-6)
Virginia (26-7)

#2
Villanova (29-5)
Oklahoma (25-7)
Xavier (27-5)
Michigan State (29-5)

(by the way, the 3s all had 7 or 8 losses)

If you don't think Kentucky is in line with those teams, then your an idiot.

Win out this season, and we're a 1. And the Kansas game was our key to maybe the #1 overall seed. Lose 1 or 2 more road games, but win the SEC and pick up a W over Florida, we're absolutely a 2.

HOFJVC's true nature is to have a chip on his shoulder; to be the underdog; to be overlooked and to HAVE to be scrappier and outwork everyone else.

He didn't get to where he is by starting at 3rd base, but he's let himself lose a bit of that edge what with podcast, YOLO, etc. (although obviously not in recruiting). He needs to instill that fight mentality with the team, and I think he will.

Long season, still not even out of January yet.*

***
Coolest thing for me about Saturday night: the halftime thing where the guy had to recreate 4 Goose Gibbons shots.

Very glad they used the 1978 title game. I was there as a 12 year old, and have told my (now) 14 y/o son many times all about Goose's performance (on IU's home court, no less).

Goose was my idol growing up.

Extra cool that they showed one shot he made from the corner, and I told my son "he was so hot he actually banked one in from that same spot in the other corner, I wish they would have shown that", and next clip, they did.

Priceless.

*I'm not pollyanna; this team has pissed me off royally, I just haven't posted about it.

It's always been decent the other times I've visited but it was pretty much universal across the table the food was awful. For drunk Anth not to finish a burger, that's pretty bad. Probably didn't help I was pissed off, drunk, and just wanted to be at home sulking.

-Was great catching up with my pal, geese. Although I think he takes my shtick on here to seriously. He did finally pay up on his Murray bet though.

Don't underestimate the 2-3 line drop b/c we're Kentucky/Cal, btw.

-Is UofL the best team in the country right now? Other than Villanova or Gonzaga, they have an argument. Nice to see Donovan Mitchell turning into JJ Redick -- those bastards are shooting 41% from 3 as a team in ACC play.

Trying to predict the seeds is pointless right now other than Gonzaga.

-Anth's Lexington post game dinner game is wack AF. Last time I attended with him, I had a similar experience at JDI -- place is terrible.

* The crowd was pretty damn good Saturday. I'm sorry Richie had some lame asses in his section, but overall the crowd was B+ to A-. If 73 had been there, it would probably have been an A+.

* Within half an hour after we got there, Saul Good got packed and the servers and everyone's stress level went thru the roof. I could definitely see the quality of food dropping as the kitchen was struggling to keep up.

Maybe next time Anth should go straight to dinner instead of doing shots and trying to fight 54 year olds at the Hyatt.

* Babysitter. A couple hours away from home. Hotel room. We were freaking sleeping by 11:30. It's hell getting old.

Compare Rupp to The Phog. Not Northwestern or Utah State or even The Pit. THAT'S the comparison to make.

Gonzaga and Villanova are pretty much locked into 1 seeds. Kansas or Baylor will get another or maybe both remaining. Should be a helluva game Wednesday night.

Louisville, Wodie's best team in the country, just lost to FSU 2 games ago.

Yes, in a 1 possession game on the road to a (then) Top 5 team who was arguably the hottest in the country.

I said right now dumbass. Changes on a weekly basis pretty much all year long, which is the reason all you putting ceilings on our team is so stupid.

Who do YOU think is playing the best ball right now? Kentucky!!!!!

Got angry drunk post-game Saturday. Went from beer to bourbon once I got back home from watching it. Watched highlights and just forced myself to suffer through it again for some reason. Made yesterday morning a bit dicey.

Apparently, after finding a pink dress she wanted, my wife decided we are now going to Oaks and Derby, instead of just Derby. Great idea in theory, but much more difficult to pull off in practice. Inevitably go too hard on day 1 and then have to fight through the rest of the weekend.

The backpack blower really changed the game RE: Yardwork. Knocked out a few months of neglect in just a day and a half in our yard.

Cinnamon Crunch Bagel w/hazelnut spread, black coffee. Panera gets it done every time.

I mean I'm sucking them off in the same way that BBdk sucks them off but I want to see what they do against Virginia. Virginia has been their kryptonite but if they can beat them in Charlottesville then uhoh.

No.

There's like 12-15 games left of the season. NOBODY is a lock for a #1. That's just stupid.

This happens every season. Football, too. Remember like 3 weeks into the season when UofL was going undefeated, the #1 team in history, and a lock to cruise into the title game??

There's a *lot* of season left to play.

Wife calls it Panera Bread, which drives me nuts.

I mean, that's the name on the sign I guess -- really craving an Egg McMuffin from McDonald's Hamburgers this morning.

-Booker is the worst basketball poster in GYERO, and it's not even close. Anytime anyone acknowledges a team other than Kentucky, they're "sucking them off".

Villanova, Gonzaga, Louisville -- that's who I think is playing the best ball right now, on January 30th. Really curious to see other opinions, other than Kentucky, who is easily #1. I realize most of you don't watch a minute of basketball outside of a 2 hour window on Tuesday and Saturday, but let's hear your guesses.

Apologize for some of my redsss on here on Saturday night including Anth & The Bonz.

Wanted to get to the Hyatt but was with my family and we had a table at Pies and Pints. Good pizza, btw.

Postgame saddled up at Hopcat and had a burger (medium rare with cheddar & raw onion) & crack fries. The burger was cooked to perfection and the fries were hot & crisp. Got sauced up with Suter and some Kansas dudes in from Chicago who made the trip. Rolled to BGT and Belle's for a nightcap. So much smoke running around in Belle's. The Thompson fellas showed us the rooftop. Great work, 80 Proof. Cool *** space.

Btw, totally called Richie not showing up to pregame with the crew until last minute after hyping the festivities (gonna be there early, let's get together and do it right!!) up on GYERO all week...only I was off -- he didn't show up at all.

Happens every time.

Oh, right now. So a week ago doesn't count. Got it. *******.

Since we are talking right now, FSU has gotten blown out by GaTech and lost by 10 to a ****** Syracuse team their last 2 games. But yeah, they were the best team ever a week ago when they beat the Cards.

Louisville is a legit contender. Don't get me wrong. But I am tired of you locals trying to pump them up every chance you get. A far as I am concerned, Louisville can get pumped and so can you.

And no, silly, Kentucky is not playing the best ball right now.

Wodie... Was trying to spend time with my sister, brother in law and parents. My sister lives 12 plus hours away and I don't get to see her often. My old man needs to be able to sit down. His knees are shot not to mention a bad hip.

Apologize again for the Bonzo shot. In the midst of redass moment when I knew Kansas was taking total control of the game they flashed Bonz up on the video board all chumming it up.

What's amazing is how often (every year) you dumbass homers in here are LOUISVILLE IS GARBAGE, THEY SUCK AND WILL BE LUCKY TO MAKE NIT THEY HAVE NOBODY.

...when they are the same team every single year, and pretty much always in contention. How many years in a row has this happened...6? 8?

I like talking basketball, all teams. Nobody said anything about the best team ever...was talking about who's playing the best right now other than Kentucky. Pretty impressive winning their last two games by 80 points without their 2 point guards. JMO

Love WVU too, although I guess they are also disqualified b/c they had a rough week recently.

Gonzaga it is. UNDEFEATED!
