I'm assuming there's a pretty good chance we have a new D.C. next year since Stoops did the job for most the season. Any chance Gran's relationship with Tubberville could lead to him coming here?

Only 40-0 talk I heard on KSR was from Ryan Lem9nd, basically the Chief of radio personalities.

I heard it mentioned one time on KSR.

...by Kentucky Joe, who can't form a single coherent sentence.

He’s not alone in his waning interest. This season, ratings for professional football are down 27 percent across all of the major networks: ESPN, Fox, NBC and CBS, according Forbes. The decline in the ratings underscores a bigger truth that no one wants to face: Nothing lasts forever. And that includes the popularity of professional football, which now may be experiencing the slow, inevitable crumble of a Roman-style empire.

I know it has become a trope around here at this point, but I actually was way out front on this one. To the point of being the butt of jokes about it for years as the NFL continued to put up record profits and ratings. The NFL's high water mark has been reached. Now the inevitable falling back to the pack has begun.

The real damage will come with the next round of media rights negotiations. I think the NBA and MLB have much more sustainable media models. Soccer is also more suited for streaming. In fact, it may have the best model for a paid, subscription streaming service. The NFL isn't built for streaming of a particular team or channel dedicated to games. People aren't going to fork over $10/month to watch 3 or 4 games.

This is compounded by the Fantasy Football mentality that has diluted the average fan's attachment to a particular team. Fans care much more about their fantasy team than any one franchise and they don't need to actually watch the games to consume the stats for their fantasy teams.

^ Was going to post something in here a few days ago about ESPN losing almost 1.2 million customers in the last few months.

ESPN and ESPN2 were down the most as far as viewing went. News, U and SECN were flat. Those channels don't have the opinion shows or NFL all the time.

Fantasy football is exactly what piqued my interest in NFL back in 99 and exactly what caused me to have total disinterest in the NFL about 5 years later. I wound up only caring about the players on my team as opposed to enjoying NFL or cheering for a team.

I think NFL Redzone has more to do with the decline in ratings than a drop of popularity. Wonder what stats on its buy rates are as compared to drops in ratings for the others.

Just makes a 3-4 hour window of watching a whole game impossible after getting rapid fire action all day on sundays.

If you had told me this team was going to the Gator Bowl as I sat through that So Miss game with my daughter asking why kept letting the other team score I would have smacked you in the face.

Thankfully that never came up.

Unless it's UK, rooting against UofL, or a Big Boy matchup (Title or now playoff) Bowls suck, TS.

If it weren't for gambol, I wouldn't watch a second of them aside from ^, and likely still won't.

The best Bowl gambling is to get into a bowl pick em pool. There's 60 some bowls. You pick the winners straight up and assign confidence to each pick; 1 for the least confident, 63 or whatever to Alabama against Washington. Winner has the highest cumulative total. Bout a $100 each entry. Tie breaker is score/points of the two national semi's.

The non-playoff bowls are the college football equivalent of the NIT.

They're exhibitions that are only important to the fans of the schools playing in them.

No, the best bowl gambling is to have a bookie or online wagering account. You bet whatever you want to, on any/every game of your choice -- giving yourself a fun & vested interest and making any game you want interesting.

This goes for every sport. Pools can be fun, I guess, but they're mostly for pussies who don't actually gambol.

the best college basketball gambol is filling out a tournament bracket lol, you just pick your bracket and pay your entry ($25) and then whoever gets the most points wins the pot i do it every year and sometimes I do 2 or 3 of them to make it even more fun but my wife has won it 6 year in a row so idk

Cut all of the bowls before the Military Bowl on that list, replace the Arizona Bowl with the Hawaii Bowl or Poinsettia Bowl and take the two best teams from the ones that were cut. Never happen, but that would make the bowl season extry dope.

I like bowl games from about December 30-on. Until then I won't watch a full quarter, maybe catch a few series of some game.

Parents got jaime the hard case Tumi and I'm not a fan. I've been sporting the same Victorinox luggage for 10+ years and don't plan on changing.
