Anyway, it’s hard to take all that much out of this performance – it wasn’t a fair fight, more on that in a second – but there were a couple of promising signs. For starters, the Wildcats hit 11 threes as a team on a night where Malik Monk was just 3-for-10 from beyond the arc. Isaiah Briscoe hit both the threes he attempted. De’Aaron Fox hit the only three he attempted. That duo was a combined 2-for-21 from beyond the arc on the season heading into Monday night. - Rob Dauster

Don't give up on this team yet guys. They showed some "promising signs" tonight. [roll]

Listen, it's not like they lost to Kansas. Everybody knows losing to Kansas is the true mark of a champion.

That's the kind of **** you write about a team that's struggling. A team that might be able to turn it around and make the tournament. That's not a paragraph you write about the number one team in the country that's absolutely skull-f---ed every team they've played. Rob Dauster is an excellent candidate for a bag of dicks in ye olde mailbox.

As great as Fox and Monk have played lately, just imagine the caliber of ballgames that the Creighton guards have been putting up.

Speaking of Creighton...

Real talk: What is the makeup of a team that will give us fits? Our team is wired in such a way that I just can't picture us letting another team dictate the pace, which frustrated me to no end about '15 and even '12 was guilty of it to an extent. So what's it going to take? What's the chink in the armor and who's the team capable of exploiting it? My thing so far has bee three-point defense, although I suspect it will get better. Creighton is an exceptional shooting team from deep.
Maybe a team that can slow it down and take Fox, Monk, and Briscoe out of it, but good f'n luck with that part of it. Plus, they need to hit hit everything they throw up and Kentucky lay bricks. Basically, the 2010 West Virginia elite 8 game.

You aren't going to outrun them. You aren't going to shut them down playing man to man. So far, zones have been ineffective. This team just does everything well.

This team has some very rare combinations.
  • Extraordinarily athletic.
  • Multiple leaders with very high motors.
  • High basketball IQ.
  • Very good passing frontcourt.
  • Backcourt is nasty defensively.
  • Extremely unselfish.
  • Seem to really love playing basketball. Like they'd be doing this even if no one watched and you couldn't make millions doing it.
  • Have no problem getting up for any game.
  • Never let off the gas.
  • Not intimidated by the stage.
  • Don't seem to be satisfied until they've embarrassed you. So much so that the opposing players grandmothers probably turn the game off early.
  • Very good free throw shooting team.
I mean, the intangibles are off the charts with this team. My only worry is Cal pussying out in big games and taking the air out of the ball, but because of our backcourt's defense, I'm not sure he could do that if he wanted to.

I've hated that about Cal for a while now. Gets a lead in a big game and instead of playing to win, he plays trying not to lose. Don't think this team will let him do it. Fox and Briscoe are what we wanted the Harrison twins to be, and the entire team has too much motor to settle for taking the air out of the ball.

Meh, we're due a few clunkers and we'll see what happens when a team (cough) gets really physical. But the pieces fit together nicely and if one is having a bad game or isn't meant for the tempo we have someone ready. Fun team to watch.

Last two Kentucky teams to win their first seven games by 21 or more:

Last two Kentucky teams to score back to back 100 point games:

Last two Kentucky teams to score 100 points in three consecutive games:

Some good company to be in.

This whole "Liberty University hiring Baylor's former AD despite the rapes" story is pretty creepy.

My take: Liberty just doesn't care. It's probably against the rules there to report any type of sexual contact so he should be good to go.

We left Gatlinburg yesterday at about noon. The sky was kind of a yellowish-charcoal color and you could smell the smoke pretty strong. Had no idea it would get this bad, though. Really sad. I joke about the skylift and all but that had kind of become a cool thing for me and my oldest to do. Everyone else in the family is too scared (smart) to ride that thing. He had begged all weekend to ride it, really glad I took him on it Sunday night. Might have been the last chance we would get for a long time. Saw a picture this morning of the whole mountain it takes you on up in flames. Have to assume that and many other places are a total loss. Just really awful. And yeah, last time I went to Gatlinburg a helicopter crashed and killed 5 people, the Ruby Tuesday burnt to the ground and a guy jumped off the sky needle.

* Think we crush UCLA as well. Just a horrible, horrible idea to try and run with us. Unless you can challenge with similar athletes and with similar depth, then it really doesn't matter unless you focus on grinding into a half court game and even then...

* The best part about this team is how well they attack zones. Even if we aren't shooting well our guards are built for getting into the center of a zone. Also doesn't hurt that bigs pass the ball so well I am not sure it isn't better just to go straight man against us.

I mean, can the past 10 days of gone any better?

UofL gets crushed by Houston
We officially become bowl eligible beating AP
IU loses to Ft Wayne
UofL blows a 22 point lead to an unranked team
UK beats UofL in the biggest upset in college football season

All the while our basketball team is just destroying everyone - GREAT time to be alive

Ball will be fun to watch Saturday. Unfortunately for UCLA, they can't clone him. They also made the mistake of beating Briscoe last season. He hasn't forgotten that I'm sure. The track meet/Usain Bolt comparison nailed it. We may hit 100 again on Saturday.

I just don't think Louisville, regardless of how they muck up the game, can score enough points to beat this team. It may make for horrible viewing, but we'll beat them by low double digits. We just shoot FT's too well, especially the guys with the ball in their hands. Plus their home court advantage at Yum is not even in the same area code as the advantage they had at Freedom Hall. Probably 15-20% of the crowd will be Kentucky fans and another 10-15% will spend more time in the bars than their seats.

UNC will be the measuring stick. They're playing as well as anyone and they have the pieces to beat us; an experienced back court that should not make many unforced errors, experienced post men who can negate Bam by getting him in foul trouble, comparable front court size, and athletes that are at least in the discussion with our guys. On the plus side, they will play an up and down style that suits our strengths. Still, this is easily the most likely loss left in the non-conference schedule.

Really liked the way the schedule broke this year. Some confidence building wins, a moderate test from Michigan State and now a back loaded series of difficult games against marquee opponents. I think we win them all but UNC. Then we drop one more in conference play. We honestly can't afford to have more than 3 losses total with the garbage SEC this season if we want to compete for a 1 Seed. College basketball is very top heavy this season. Duke. UNC. Villanova. Kansas. Kentucky. Someone is a 2 Seed from that group.

I like UNC's rotation of bigs, but Joel Berry is playing/shooting so well I wonder how they'll look when he returns to earth. He's a really good player, have always liked him, but he's playing like a 1st Teamer/NPOY candidate so far this season -- not quite sure he's that good, but maybe he is. Bradley is much better than I thought.

Of course, the bulk of their team has been together for 6-7 years, so they have that going for them.

-Never been big on The Weeknd, a big part of which can be attributed to Black Mike's teenager style worship of the man, but his new album is :fire::fire::fire: Solid mix of Pop, R&B, and Electronica -- dude does his best MJ impression on a few. "I Feel it Comin" is the best pop song I've heard in forever, mostly thanks to the genius of Daft Punk, but I worship. Much of the album has a little throwback 80s sound to it, lots of snyths, etc.

-How long til primetime games tip off at 10-11pm on the reg? [eyeroll]

-What do Louisvillians pay for a Cord of seasoned & delivered firewood? Rick?

-Triple Double :raised_hands:

Lmao daddy brax probably gave his lil heathens some cigars to celebrate that big cats win in true jessamine co fashion and now his entire family is banned from the great smokey mountains.

#raxfamEAT

Well they all vape in Jessamine County so I doubt BRAX was the cause of this. Unfortunately.

Per ESPN this morning, Fox didn't really have a triple-double.

They tele-illustrated a supposedly credited assist where two other players touched the ball before the shot went up.

Glad they're showing such due diligence. [eyeroll]

Pretty much the perfect call, imo.

What was not played was Rutherford saying that UK fans did not come up with squirt to the ceiling. "It was in the book" he said.

Yes it was in the book about how a ***** WAS PAID TO HAVE SEX WITH PLAYERS AND RECRUITS BY A COACH OF THE UOFL BASKETBALL TEAM AND SAID COACH WANTED GIRLS THAT COULD SQUIRT TO THE CEILING.

So yes UK fans did not come up with "squirt to the ceiling" . Thanks for pointing that out, ***.

I don't even think a funky zone a la WVU will hurt this team. The Wall team had no shooters and Cousins and Orton in the middle. As awesome as Cousins was (and Orton in small spurts), he was stuck in the paint. Bam has a decent enough midrange game to clear the lane for Fox, Briscoe, and Monk, or we can even put Willis at the 5 with Gabriel at the 4 and literally f*ck them to death right there at midcourt.

Good luck and get pumped CBB.

Stone cold lock because of that ******** Cal does everything possible to make sure Fox drops 15 12 12 against UCLA.

Looked at Dauster's timeline. He didn't have a single "live Tweet" about the game last night despite the fact his job is to watch college basketball and it was a prime time ESPN 2 game. Today he's breaking down the box score/game film like the Zapruder film.

Jesus, why are they are on a witch hunt for this?

Knowing kentucky fans its probably because Dauster got 500 tweets and emails talking about what a POS he was for disrespecting the CAYUTS and lol what a dumbass you are Kentucky is the best team of all time! And sports writers, especially ones for college basketball, being as mature as they are, are probably responding with stupid things like this.

God is passing his judgment on the wicked sinners of East Tennessee. They've luxuriated and reveled in pancake syrup, gnome statues, Big Johnson t-shirts, well-done steaks, putt-putt, and knick knacks for far too long.

Thus the Lord GOD showed me, and behold, the Lord GOD was calling to contend with them by fire, and it consumed the great deep and began to consume the farm land.

I mean, of course this was going to happen. 19 Million straight down the *******. The Olympics are amazing.

According to an Agence France-Presse report, Progolf -- the company that manages the course -- has not been paid in two months by the Brazilian Golf Confederation. Progolf has been left to foot the $82,000 monthly bill on its own and is set to pull out, which could trigger a quick collapse.

"The golf course will die," a source said. "It could take four weeks, three weeks."

Worse, the course continues to lack basic facilities and amenities. There is no website, and the grounds lacks proper signage. The course doesn't have a pro shop. The Brazilian Golf Confederation's president said the course gets 40 players per day, but employees admitted the actual attendance is far less.

“We are bitterly disappointed if this is the outcome for all of our efforts in creating the Olympic Course,” Gil Hanse, architect of the Rio Olympic Course, said to Golf World. “We witnessed this type of brinksmanship during the construction of the course, and we are hopeful that this is another example of having to hit a low point before things get better.”

So, the Tax Slayer Bowl is in play because of an agreement with the Music City Bowl to not have the same team play twice in 3 years?
