BCal has Mulder syndrome from last year...he can obviously stroke it, but looks like Briscoe out there during a real game, lol.

Impressive game given the situation, imo.

He's gonna keep playing Hawkins and Mulder. Willis is gonna end up the odd man out.

Ugh I hope not. Stretching the court will become much more important once we start playing teams that can actually defend and handle the ball. We won't be able to rely so much on our shear physical prowess to get shots around the rim at will.

I'd much rather roll with a 4 guard rotation including Mulder and have Willis playing 3/4 with Gabriel. That gives us a nice 8 man rotation with a diverse skill set. There won't be many lineup conformations in that rotation that will effectively have us playing 3 or 4 v 5 on offense.

I just can't get over the maturity we play with, even with Briscoe out. UT Martin sucks but they hit some crazy shots early and we've seen some of our best teams this time of year let cupcakes hang around, gain confidence, and have to stretch out at lead in the last 8 minutes or so.

Not this group, they are freaking relentless...Fox, Gabriel, and even Monk are always just, as Bill Simmons would say "up to stuff". And we push the pace as a "team" better than any of Cal's previous squads.

We pass well, make the right play more often than not...and if Monk/ Mulder /Willis are going to shoot the 3 ball at a respectable clip. Well damn.

Not to mention, you can't hack us, because we shoot FT's well.

I like my team.

Too bad when Duke gets healthy the season is cancelled and they're presenting them with the championship trophy. Would have really liked to have seen how this team plays in March. ****** luck to have a team like this the same year that they're forgoing the tournament.

Teams like this one are from a bygone era.

It's just not in the nature of college basketball in the current year with its rampant coaching micromanagement to have a team as lethal as this one is in transition. The ability of everybody on the team to get it out on the run as quickly as possible is my favorite thing about them. The guards push it, the posts throw outlet passes, everything is geared towards the break and the guys who finish on the break might be the best at that specific thing that we've had since Cal has been here.

Here's some superficial crap that means a lot to me.

I brought up Malik Monk going ham against Cleveland State when Bam made that great drop step dunk in the first half. All of our guys react like this for their teammates. That kind of chemistry can't be taught, it appears genuine and it reminds me of that summer of 2011 when Marquis Teague talked a bunch of trash at the OKC Thunder when the came to practice during the lockout.

I can't wait for UCLA. I know there's Arizona State first. But that UCLA game, with their style of play...if you run with Kentucky, you're a big goof.

So just to play Devil's Advocate:

- Bam sweats too much

- Fox playing with his hair too much?

- Derek seems concerned about his next ink job.

- Monk elbows too pointy

- Cal recruited too good

Was driving most of the day so I missed the UofL Baylor fun and the UK game and just watched it on replay. Monk is the kind of wing I just love. Wirery super athletic that has a smooth stroke and can posterize a fool. He is cut from the same cloth as Derek Anderson and Ron Mercer. What a show he put on.

It's going to take a bit for Bam to really get going but unlike Skal even if he is struggling and trying to figure things out he is still rebounding the **** out of the ball.

Fox being 0 for the season from 3 would be more concerning if he didn't do everything else ridiculously good. Love his rebounding from the guard spot.

It's ridiculous how many points this ream is putting up compared to past Cal teams. We aren't even close to executing well yet but the hustle and pushing the pace makes up for it.

Tom Herman is obviously everyone's #1 guy. My issue with him, though, is that he's been a head coach for less than 2 years. That's a huge roll of the dice for Texas/LSU/USC imo, regardless of how exciting his offense is.

* First game in my usual seats this season. Arena looks great from up there as well.

* What did they say about Willis' injury? Don't see it mentioned anywhere.

* Think we get plowed today. Hope I'm wrong. I see us keying on Jackson and their RB gashing us. Then Jackson will get his anyway.

I'd love to get 'weird' and throw some crazy **** at UL but the only way we keep this close is line up to RUN. Cats have to eat up major clock on the ground, keep Lamar off the field as long as possible and hope he gets antsy and makes some mistakes.

Our running game is our only real advantage and we have to milk that **** for all it's worth, IMO. Line them up and hope Boom/Benny have career days with a Johnson timely pass now and then to keep the Card D honest.

Any time Benny Snell or Boom Williams is running, Lamar Jackson isn't.

I'm really glad to have Gran & Co. so that any trickery should (hopefully) be strategically timed rather than some Shannon Dawson-style "Aw hell, let's just run the Flea Flicker!" type decision.

We are probably going to lose, but I think we will keep it closer than expected.

So LSU wasn't willing to wait on Tom Herman? WTF not? Like Ed Orgeron was going anywhere. Probably wouldn't have gotten Herman, but there is no way they couldn't have done better than Orgeron. Their AD should be fired on the spot.

Fans always clamor for their team to be aggressive and attack, but we need the opposite today. Total slugfest. Boring. Win the time of possession. Force LAMAR to throw. They're dead last in the country in fumbles and close in sacks. Slow the game down. No track meets. Run the clock.

Ideally, we want a 10-6 game that looks like the football version of the Heat-Knicks NBA on NBC rivalry.
