A Few Monday thoughts ---

--- Loved what I saw from the Basketball team this weekend, even with the first half struggles last night. The athleticism is unbelievable and I agree with whoever said above that he is ahead of Wall at the same point (although Wall took a huge leap in December of that year). Cal is also giddy with this group, mainly because he has dudes that all want to work. I am not overly concerned with outside shooting as struggles in that area ensure he will have to play Willis, even with his mediocre defense. We will lose some games, but by the end of the year they will be right there. One deficiency I worry about is no rim protecter since this team likes to go for steals so much, but they can overcome it.

--- I was really frustrated by how wimpy the FB team coached on Saturday, especially not going for it on the 4th down in the first half. I think Stephen Johnson's Miss state fumble has them all spooked and now they refuse to do anything but the most safe option. Problem is, they won't beat good teams like that, at least in my view. Still I think the program has taken a massive step up in the last few weeks....key is not to totally get embarrassed by Louisville (which could happen) and keep fans engaged for what should be a fun Bowl game.

--- Lonnie Walker would be a great Fall commitment and one that UK Folks really believe they can get. Arizona is probably the favorite but folks in Lexington think they are right there and they have been encouraging an early decision. Its a gamble on Cal's part, but one that might work.

--- Been an odd few weeks for me in relation to UK (non-basketball) folks. It is all basically resolved now but it will never cease to amaze me how many fans (especially on this board) think I am just a mouthpiece for the Administration when many over there are not fans at all. Just shows you cant please everyone.

--- I cant believe Donald Trump is going to be the President. I am not totally shocked he won, mostly because Hillary was so unlikeable, but I can't believe this is the result. I don't think its going to be a massive change from a normal Republican Presidency from a policy perspective...maybe a little more populist economically, but probably not too much as Ryan/McConnell won't allow it. Still this is the one thing I really dislike about it...he is normalizing the idea that being a total *** can not only work, it is preferable. It isn't so much the racist/sexist rhetoric (which is bad but I think he will get away from as President), but the fact that his position on everyone that disagrees with him is "screw them." It doesn't really matter for Trump but it infects the way others act who emulate him. It encourages *******-ishness across the board, which kind of sucks. But hey, he won and Clay Travis is popular....so my opinion is clearly in the minority on this.

--- Bobby is going to try to score 100 against us...I think we will either play it relatively close or be totally humiliated. There is no middle ground.

--- Early TV indications are pretty good for our gig. We have cut into Jeopardy substantially and improved the time slot ratings for WLEX a pretty good amount. It is also a ton of fun to do and I am amazed at how they will basically let us put anything we want on the air. Even if the show were to ultimately fail, I wanted to do a show completely my way and let the chips fall where they may...talking sports but also politics and trying to do creative stuff. We have so far and it has been surprisingly pretty positive. We get our first big ratings book in December though so ultimately that will be the first true indicator.

--- Remember when the UK media online all hated each other and there were tons of grudges? Of course there was me vs Maggard and that whole thing but there were lots of others as well....some of which never even got made public. Everyone kind of despised each other behind the scenes. Now some folks have problems with Rowland (who is much more controversial than anyone else now, including me, although I do get along with him) and I am sure there are still some with latent dislike of me, but it isn't like the old days at all. Probably because the media landscape is much thinner and really only 4 entities (CJ, Herald, KSR and Cats Illustrated) have much of a consistent following. Kyle Tucker may change that with SEC Country and knock the CJ out, but the days of 500 sites and reporters has kind of gone away.

This has really become my only place (along with our site and Twitter) that I read on UK sports topics on the internet. You guys still have a huge influence on the content of my show (as I am sure you probably know), especially when it comes to what drives people to argue and get mad at each other. Thanks for that.

Because you're stupid, Phil.

Eddie Murphy = unsuspecting hobo with no business on Wallstreet

Wynyard = unsuspecting hobo with no business playing basketball at UK

Duke brother = bet you $1 we could hire anyone and they'd succeed.

Cal = bet you $1 I could give a scholarship to anyone and get them drafted.

OK, got you, I really do feel stupid for not figuring out your comparative.
I started thinking along these lines, but then thought, no that can't be where he is going......because, you know, Billy Ray made the Dukes millions and then almost single-handedly took down the Dukes and Wall Street and became a billionaire, and Wynyard doesn't even stand a chance of getting on the court while at UK. Guess I was just overthinking it because I am stupid.

With the Democratic Party in shambles right now, great opportunity for Mags new movement to gain a foothold.

Bo is such an embarrassment compared to Louie. Last weekend he did the Flower Power Hour from Gatlinburg and all the callers were jealous of him.

90% of answers on flower power hour

"Yea go ahead and cut that back"

"Yea make sure you give it a good soak"

Lmao yea Donald really pioneered acting like a total *** in the political world.

Ya boi Jim acted like quite the gentlemen during his risqué TV ad and that monumental concession speech he gave. We won't hear anything like that till Hector Commacho loses 30 years from now.

We have doubled our membership in the past six days...and it has cleared out some obstacles on that side to progress. There is a long way to go and it will be very tough...but there is some hunger out there for it and we are fortunate to have two people (Mitch and Bevin) who can project unlikeable qualities as standard bearers for the other side. IF it was someone reasonable and successful like Ryan Quarles or Jamie Comer, the idea of any movement that wasn't very conservative in this state would be dead.

If the previous election will spur an increase or shift in party mentality to be more on par with "Just f'ing normal people" then it was worth it.

My bet is that the outspoken fringe from either side will still continue to dominate the news cycle.

Also in regard to jeopardy- this gal went out with a bang.

Also Brenden Dassey may be innocent of having anything to do with that murder, but my guess is he gets picked up for a creepy, weirdo crime before the end of 2017. My guess is something with pets.

Any chance you all hate Toots Palumbo as much as GYERO?

his position on everyone that disagrees with him is "screw them."

To be fair, that has been Obama's MO for the last 8 years, buttressed by Democrats and the media. Disagree with Obama? You're racist/sexist/bigoted/classist/etc. Blaming Trump for the proliferation of *******-ishness is absurd. Examples of just Obama, Reid, and Pelosi being ******** would crash this site.

Obama can be faulted for many things...but acting like he has anywhere close to the language/a-holeness of Trump is ridiculous.

As far as the supporters of him, you can find an example on either side of people acting like a fool. The difference with Trump is that he takes the a-holeness of the extreme and normalizes it by saying the words himself. It clearly worked and it is what it is....but there hasn't been a President speak about others as he does ever

Trump should have lost based solely on those god-awful hats. Nearly his biggest shame, IMO.

Well you obviously didn't pay attention to the exit polls, but instead just rattled off typical liberal BS that has been spewed since last week. You may want to brush up on the results, news and such once the butt hurt wears off.

If you had been paying attention, the national AND state/local offices across the US have been tilting right Obama's entire last term.

Look at it this way...you can now get Stumbo on your show since he isn't doing anything.

Learn branding. The man is a genius.

I hope he learns to act Presidential. People seem to like him when he stays on point. He really should just delete twitter.

Poor Melania or whatever her name is... no way in hell she wanted this to happen. Assume she just wanted to be a good looking gal, living lavish and judging people.

Now shes going to be expected to read to kids or something, or pick what they can have for school lunch and whatnot.

[laughing] Exactly what I was thinking. She was just wanting to be a trophy wife for 5 years and then probably divorce Donald and live a life of luxury and now she's stuck doing Rush Limbaugh interviews and coming up with some sort of integrated health care plan for children.
