These boys (guards) unselfish AF tho, despite their attempts at going at it alone...which they have to. Very impressive, overall.

Small sample size and I know this will get nipped in the bud as opponents adjust, but I LOVE how the bigs look for the outlet pass every time they get a rebound or a turnover. It's a lost art, and it's not something I'm used to seeing. With so many of Cal's teams, it's get it to the point guard and let him lead the break. But the wings have been releasing so well in this game and the two exhibitions, it's a treat to watch.

Briscoe going to be one of those guys where you look up with 5:00 to go and his stat line is packed. Just doing it here and there along the way.

I love Briscoe, but it feels like every play he's thinking about his draft stock. Not selfishly, but subconsciously. Like "I've got to show them I can do this."

^ Definitely feel like he's forcing the action a bit.

SFA +7 rebound margin not a good look staring down the schedule at Sparty...:grimace:

Monk with a lot of Murray shot selection going on, surprised with how polished Fox is, was expecting a lot more turnovers but he's completely under control, took this game over.

Most impressive thing tonight was the defense.

That's a pretty experienced team, even if they're missing their coach and lumberjack from last year, but they have a fair amount of big game reps the last few years, and in the halfcourt setting on non-busted plays, it felt like it took acts of God for them to score. Just a tornado of limbs on every pass and shot. The speed in which our guys recovered from defensive errors is what I liked the best tonight.

Just think you're a terrible knee-jerk poster (social media included), always have. Nothing personal. I donate to your causes, invite you to hoops, and like your food posts. All good.

Briscoe probably played the best overall game tonight. Scoring, setting up other guys, great defense, and maybe 1-2 floor mistakes at most.

Except for trying to impress scouts and his draft stock, which totally touched him. Other than that, I agree.

I'm not talking about his overall play. He played great. But when he makes a bad play it feels like he's pressing. Ricocheting a couple of forced lobs off the glass, the mental issue he's had with free throws. I'm one of the biggest Briscoe fans out there, he's a phenomenal defensive player, and when we need a bucket this year he's probably the guy we go to. Feels like he presses sometimes though. Not sure what's controversial about that. Seems pretty obvious to me.

^^we can go 10 deep but Cal hasn't really shown himself as a coach that likes to do that when things tighten up.

Glad we got everyone out relatively early tonight. The young guys need reps, but three games in five days is tough, especially with a frustrated Izzo team in Game 3. Have to be at our best.

Also, Wagner over UConn in Storrs.

-Solid win with a great overall team effort to kick off the season

-Down to the wire game with Zona v St

-UConn going down at home to Wagner

-Xavier squeaking by Lehigh despite 20 point efforts from Sumner and Blueitt

-Hoosiers and Jayhawks about to tip off

-And a slight studio shimmy shake from Toine

College Basketball, I love you

Thomas Bryant bombing 3s to keep IU in the game. [eyeroll]

I hate that grumpy baby-faced dude...but he's good.

-What do you suggest we do, Brooks? Get some rest to mentally prepare for the TV broadcast which takes place 4-6 hours after most adults awake?
