I went to school with a bunch of Cleveland/Chicago folks and based on talking to them I think the game being in Cleveland actually favors the Cubs. Lotta tight buttholes up in Ohio right now, as there would be in Chicago if the game was in Wrigley. Should be fun to watch, but Cleveland blowing a 3-1 lead after winning their first title in forever by coming back from 3-1 against GSW would be pretty Cleveland of them. Plus Chicago winning the WS makes the Cubs just another big market, big payroll team like Boston is now, and a lot less lovable. Time for the Reds to be the beloved scrappy underdog/lovable losers!

Nothing Simmons has or will say about his college basketball experience will be anything we haven't heard before, and won't hear again. Face it, for a superstar college talent, his 1 year was pretty ordinary. There are a *lot* of "student athletes" who could have published the same material.

But you can't receive all those extra under-the-table benefits, then immediately turn around and throw those same people under the bus. The system is corrupt, and you played a huge part in it, dick. F that guy. F that guy hard.

The Bengals' annual playoff losses have all been pretty awful, most of all last year. Looking forward to not having to deal with that this year, honestly.

I think the losses that hurt the most are when the team is ripe for a championship, and there has been a long wait...see 1993 or 2010. 2012 took a lot of sting off, or 2015 would easily be at the top of the list. Last year was an off year, but the rage will be back this season. It's been 5 years. Time to stop Duke from winning what should be Kentucky's championships.

I'm shocked at how few Cleveland supporters we have around here. Does nobody have an uncle who grew up in Shaker Heights? Hasn't anyone seen The Tribe play on FoxSports Ohio? Heard a fascinating tale of Bob Feller's World War II exploits? Driven thru the northern part of the state? Taken a tour of Jacobs Field? Had a car break down in Akron one time in college? Laid over in Hopkins International????

These are the foundations upon which lifelong fandom is built!!!

- I'm just glad we have a Game 7. Hope it lives up to expectations. Still don't get why Maddon had Chapman in there up 5 runs last night.
It was a stretch, but look at how bad the rest of the bullpen is. Montgomery was ok at times but hes having control problems. Strop is a maniac. Rondon is done for the year. Wood can only give you 1-2 outs, Grimm the same... the only other decent option is Edwards. Maddon has also seen a 7-0 lead evaporate quickly in the playoffs...

Getting through last night makes Lester an option tonight out of the pen, and tbh, Chapman is making good coin. Hes not throwing a ton of pitches, and he wont be on the team after tonight. Ice your **** down and get his *** back out there if necessary.

RE: Bengals

Yeah, last year was a tough one to swallow. Generally, it's more [eyeroll] when they blow it, but that one stung.

RE: The Reds

Because I had no faith at all in our manager, it was a similar feeling to the Bengals usual postseason F-ups. I'd be curious my reaction if I really believed in the team.

But yeah, my UK basketball fervor is unhealthy. I readily admit that. At least all my heathan internet friends are the exact same as me.

Couldn't really GAF less about either team but do feel Chicago deserves more misery for Bartman. Go Tribe, I guess.

This is at least of interest if it comes into play tonight:

During the regular season in 2016, Chapman worked on back-to-back nights 19 times. Pitching on no days’ rest, he threw 18 innings with a 1.00 ERA while striking out 24 and walking four. It’s a small sample, but it’s in line with his typical numbers. And across his career, Chapman has actually been a good deal better while working on no days’ rest than he has been on two days’ rest — a 1.70 ERA versus a 2.44 ERA.

1995 was all my fault. I watched every SECT and NCAAT game at Ozzie Smith's Sports Bar in St. Louis. Except for the UNC game. I watched that at my apartment, as I was planning the Final Four trip with my family to Seattle.

I will take 100% blame for that. And it still stings 20 years later. Can't mess around with superstition, and I did. Bad fandom right there.

I think the bottom line for Maddon is that even a Chapman with little rest, is a better option than the rest of the guys in the bullpen... those guys were pretty good all year but have regressed. I would think you dont see anything other than Hendricks, Lester, Edwards, Chapman tonight.

Cleveland's bullpen gets notoriety for Miller and Allen, but that Shaw dude has been as good as anyone. Cubs will have to get one early and hope somehow they can hang on.

Is Louisville in trouble?

The quick answer: Yes. It wasn’t that long ago that the prospect of two ACC teams in the Playoff seemed plausible. And the No. 7 spot is not a bad place to be in the initial ranking. But a look inside the rankings shows why Louisville has a problem if it doesn’t win the ACC (and unless Clemson loses twice, it won’t).

Louisville is only the third one-loss team in the rankings, behind Texas A&M and Ohio State. Hocutt cited Louisville’s lesser strength of schedule and the fact the Cardinals have beaten one team (No. 22 Florida State) with a winning record.

“The committee just did not believe at this time that their schedule is as strong as those other two one-loss teams,” Hocutt said.

That’s bad news, because although the ranking is a the committee’s evaluation of the season so far, the upcoming schedule doesn’t appear to provide much help for Louisville. It’s clear the committee likes the Aggies more than a little bit. Ohio State will get its shot against Michigan.

Meanwhile, Louisville’s remaining regular season schedule includes Boston College, Wake Forest and Kentucky. And a Nov. 17 Thursday night matchup at Houston won’t provide the pop it could have because of Houston’s rapid fade.

The takeaway: Louisville needs help, and maybe a lot of it.

Looks like I'll be making my first game in quite some time this weekend courtesy of the benevolent Showkiller and the in-laws agreeing to harbor the kids. Looking forward to meeting some of you derelict assclowns that I've known for over a decade but never met in person.

No.

Louisville is in. CoolCat already had all 4 playoff team's names written in stone 1/4th of the way thru the season. Don't be stupid.

Feeling kinda squirrely this morning. Just attended a chamber event with the newly elected sheriff in the ultra white/super conservative/wealthy end of town (think: Prospect). Some takeways from rich white folk...

- aint like it used to be around here. its gotten SO dangerous, the world is going to hell in a handbasket, and sheriff bob is gonna clean this place up once and for all!
- we need to get tougher on crime!! well, except for speeding. leave us otherwise law abiding citizens alone. just get super duper tough on all the other stuff. not speeding. that doesnt count.
- panhandling = an epidemic. a scourge on humanity. bringing our community to its knees. chasing away business and all the good folk around here. same with that long hippy hair they all wear.

Aggies are going to lose to LSU and Ohio St. is going to lose to Michigan.

So you have Alabama, Michigan, Clemson...and either Washington/Louisville. I'd give the edge to Washington, though Mike Leach may throw us a curveball. And who knows...ole Mark Stoops could pull the shocker as the CATS lock down a New Year's Day Bowl and cap off their SEC East Championship season.

-Got the IPhone 7 plus 132g. Had a 5s with awful memory space so this is a huge upgrade.

Other than pics, intrawebs, and the twitter machine I don't really know how to utilize its differences from my 5s. Thing is lightning faster though.

- Don't watch baseball at all during the regular season but have been glued to the League Championshipe and World Series. Want the Cubs to win. Love the city of Chicago and want their hard core fans to enjoy a championship.

- People can ***** about this weather but 2 things:

* Usually by November 1 or so the leaves have mostly all fallen and everything starts to look so dead and barren. The Grey Nation settles in & it really feels like winter.

* With the delay of true fall weather we are getting mostly nothing but 60's & sunny for the next few weeks where it's usually low 50's, grey and rainy.

* Kayts rocking all blue on Saturday night. Like the choice. Commonwealth's going to be wild.

* Need Johnson to execute some play action on Saturday night.
