Yeah, I'm not used to big cities like you. Boston and San Fran, if only some day I get to experience something like that....

If we do go to Birmingham for a bowl game, it starts at 2pm December 29th and we play Ole Miss at 8 that night on the road. Fly the UK after the bowl game win and then mosey on over to a bar, get some grub and more drinks and watch the basketball Cats get their first win of the SEC season. Solid day for the nation.

Always fun when Anth visits the big city. Dude walks around in awe of all the buildings, incredibly suspicious of any non-white who walks by, worried they're going to mug him saying **** like, "You know half of these people are strapped" and "So is this considered the hood?" Willy, Jerome and I just sit back and shake our heads.

Story checks out.

Tried that exact scenario in 2011. Put up a huge **** sammich vs Pitt then another turd against UGA in basketball. I was so drunk pissed I went back to the room, bailed on bars, grabbed sushi and watched Forrest Gump. Let's not do that again. K?

Know what else I hate? Being handed a manilla envelope containing cash and a card for one of the work hen's baby shower. Now I have to cough up some cash to contribute to a gift, which sucks, but what's worse is that I have to sign the card. Everyone else that's signed it so far has written a nice paragraph talking about what a blessing babies are, what a special time this is, get some sleep now (lol), and that kind of nonsense. So far, I've got "Dear Work Hen, Congrats." Now what? I feel like I have to add something else. But, this chick already has two kids. She knows they're a blessing, blah, blah, blah. And why the F are we giving her a baby shower anyway? I thought that was just for new mothers? I consider a shower for kid #3 a grievous breach of etiquette. And it seems like we're doing something like this every week. A sense of dread envelops me every time one of these envelopes gets dropped on my desk. "What sort of fresh hell is this? What insincere statement do I have to pull out of my *** this time?" And it's not like I can just sign it and move on. No, I have to consult the distribution list on the front of the envelope, cross out my name, then deliver it to the next person on the list. So now I've been assigned a task. And inevitably the only people left on the distribution are ones I don't know and/or hate. Now I have to monitor their comings and goings so that I can deliver the envelope when they're not at their desk, lest I have to talk to them and give them a brief summary of what's in the envelope, which makes it look like I endorse this ********. So, essentially, this has ruined my day. Just let me do my job/post on GYERO and go home. :grimace::gun:

At my former workplace, the secretary used to send around birthday cards like this. With a large department - around 70 or 80 people at the time - there was a birthday or two just about every week.

One week somebody's mother passed away. So a sympathy card was sent around. One of the Chinese engineers wrote "Happy Birthday!!!!" on it and passed it on to the next person.

Chicago-Got in there Thursday around noon, went and met at my buddy's house in Dearborn Park, popped around the city for a bit, Genos East, hit up the Sears Tower at night which was amazing, hadn't been there since I was about 10.

Friday-up and at 'em early. Got down to Wrigley around 2. Walked around and took it all in. Lines were literally hundreds of people long lined up around blocks waiting to pay a couple hundred to get in.

We weren't doing that so made a couple laps around Wrigley, took pics, etc. Around 430 made it into a Wrigleyville North, a bar about 3 blocks from the field which only cost $10/head after about a 20 minute wait. Felt like some buddy's basement honestly. Small, quaint, nothing fancy. Hung out there for 1.5 hours up til about game time.

Went and found our right field seats and sat in awe for about 4 hours. It was incredible. The feeling that whole game was about as tense as anything I can imagine (non-UK tourney game). Took our loss and everyone still had a jovial time on the way home on the train.

Hit the sack, barely made my 6am flight and didn't even have time to stop at the house. Straight to work at Tattoos&Scars til 7pm for the madness that is Fantasy Fest. Same thing the next day, then the bane of everyone's existence in town Parrothead week started Monday. Bar was crushed Monday and today, then got off work at 4pm and back to Tats to work tonight from 10-4am.

Freaking exhausted. Let's do it again tomorrow I guess.

BUT...the old Cubs pulled off the victory tonight so all is well. Game 7 ready tomorrow. Can't wait.

I still think Cleveland wins it. Very difficult to come back from a 3-1 deficit, particularly at a visiting ballpark. And Kluber and Miller have been untouchable the past two games. No sir, I don't like it. At least we're being aggressive at the plate. That's something I guess.

Yeah, I'm not quite that torn up about it, honestly. I want Cleveland to win, obviously, but I've never claimed to be a lifer. Started following the team when I moved up there during their mid-90's run. Don't live and die with every game. Besides, the Cubs are/were the favorites. On paper, this should be over already. All the pressure should be on them, whereas the Tribe wasn't expected to be here, so most fans are just enjoying the ride.

Nothing like a UK Final Four, at least not for me.

* Daddy is going to be sitting in the floor seats across from UK's bench for the titanic struggle against Asbury on Sunday night. [banana]

* Touch the Cubs. But congrats to all of you die hard fans for being one game away. Would be a good sports story. That being said, GO TRIBE. #LlamaLove

* Ava dropped a perfectly executed GO BIG BLUE to one of my UC fan neighbors who knocked my UK tshirt I was wearing while taking her Trick or Treating. I was very proud.

* SEC love aside. If Washington finishes unbeaten they have to jump over A&M, right?

* Watched a fake documentary on Discovery the other night about Megaladon, a giant extinct shark. They had a bunch of fake stories and video making it seem like it was real. Took me a bit before I realized what I was watching.

They've also done fake documentaries on mermaids and these little missing link guys. The missing link show was actually somewhat tense/scary at parts. The mermaid one was pretty dumb.

But I wonder how many people just flip thru the channels and stop on those shows and think they're real?

* Michigan Fan is unbearable right now. Texas A&M would only have 3 wins with Michigan's schedule, apparently.

With a series, you dont have to live and die with every game like you do with the NCAAT... Obviously a game 7 makes people more anxious. But when you drop one in the series there is a next game to get it together.

Thats why the NCAAT is the best and the worst and whatnot.

The release of the weeks-long pit-of-your-stomach agony that precedes it is what makes it such a shot of pure, top-of-the-world ecstasy when it actually happens.

Without the nervousness, the euphoria of winning would only be a fraction of what it is.

Also feels different because with a professional team, there's a good chance that the team itself will look pretty similar a year from now, so it's not necessarily the ONLY shot it has to win a title with those guys. The Indians' everyday lineup will probably look almost identical a year from now(even better, with Brantley/Carrasco/Salazar back and healthy), so you know they should have another run or two in them.

College basketball has such turnover that each run, especially at Kentucky, is basically your ONLY run with that particular group of kids...which is why 2012 was such a relief, and 2015 such a kick to the junk.

True, but it's a helluva price to pay. Feeling like you could puke for 3 straight weeks isn't healthy.

Llama, the Indians haven't won it all since 1948 and the Cubs haven't won the series since before WWI.

IT'S GAME FREAKING 7. Do you really think that the real fans of those teams are thinking, ho hum... no biggie. We'll probably be back next year?

C'mon, man.

I have a few friends who are as diehard about the Cubs as they are UK Basketball. Buddy sent me a picture a few days ago of him as a child at Wrigley Field with Harry Carey. Pretty cool. He's an absolute wreck right now. Can't imagine what he'll be like tonight.

As long as the Indians and Cubs have waited, I think it will be very Cleveland/Chicago for this to happen tonight to one of the fanbases...can't imagine what this feels like as a losing fan.

ESPN has published more details about the new 'ONE & DONE' Showtime documentary that will air Friday. In it, Simmons reportedly says the NCAA is "really (expletive) up." The report also details Simmons saying he was offered a "Bentley, a Wraith Rolls-Royce, watches, jewelry, a house ... anything. It literally is anything" while at LSU. Simmons didn't specify who offered him those items. In the documentary, he mostly grouses about what a waste of time college is, saying he didn't see the point of going to class, particularly once he became eligible for the spring semester.

Didn't say that fans will say it's no biggie. Of course they'll be wrecked. I'm just saying it's different.

I experienced the Red Sox heartache up until the 2004 title, and that nervousness never compared to UK in the Final Four from 1996 on. I'm just fortunate no one videoed me watching the Louisville or Kansas games in 2012 or the Wisconsin game in 2015.

My Reds and Bengals fandom is very close to my UK fandom for me.

It's like UK football, in that I don't get to experience the really meaningful games that often. But when I do, it hurts when they lose.

Especially the Bengals losing at the very end of the 89 Super Bowl vs the 49ers. That was devastating for Greendevil Willy. I was too young for the earlier Super Bowl loss to really crush me.

OTOH, winning the 90 Series was fantastic for college frosh, Colonel Willy.

But the UK basketball postseason is more intense for me. I kicked and broke our basement door after losing to Marquette in '94. I still wake up in the middle of the night thinking about the Towns team not finishing the deal.

I understand its different, and I probably read it the wrong way, but I really can't imagine any Indians fan taking winning a World Series for granted. Especially since their earlier run of great teams in the mid/late 90's finished with no titles.

Up 3-1, losing this Series would be devastating to Tribe Nation.

- I'm just glad we have a Game 7. Hope it lives up to expectations. Still don't get why Maddon had Chapman in there up 5 runs last night.

- :joy: Cal on Rothstein's podcast yesterday. Love when he gets on with megamouths like himself (guys like Jim Rome, Seth Greenburg, Dan Patrick, Rothstein, etc) and STILL dominates the conversation.

- A-Rod is damn good in the studio (well, postgame show).
