Interesting article on the possibility of players covering the Nike/Adidas/UA logos on their uniforms...

"You can see where this is going. Players cover logos. Shoe companies get upset, because they're not getting the human billboard advertising they paid for. Coaches and athletic administrators freak out, because those payments help cover their plus-size salaries and comfy perks. Meanwhile, reporters want to know what's behind the biggest college sports story of the year: How come you're masking that Swoosh or that Under Armour logo?

Honestly, is there a better visual metaphor for protesting the ongoing economic exploitation of big-time campus athletes?"

This year's team has the ability to be the most disruptive perimeter defensive team we've had since the mid-90s. That's one way these guys can stand out relative to their predecessors.

Cal's best defensive teams were good on the perimeter, but it was also the strategy to not go for turnovers and funnel everything in for the shot blockers to send back. This year the guards look capable of wreaking absolute havoc on the defensive end with their length and athleticism, and also just with how hard they play. And that doesn't even take into account Wenyen Gabriel, who actually looks pretty well coordinated on that side of the ball.

Obviously '12 was a phenomenal team on defense. Anthony Davis is a witch. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is the most competitive dude there's ever been in the program. None of the Teague/Lamb/Miller/Jones group were slouches in that area. But that group wasn't built to play the style of defense that I believe this one can. All a matter of style.

Side to side Teague was insane and he could get up. Very underrated athlete. Be pretty tough to beat 2010 because the Wall, Bledsoe tandem is elite athleticism.

-I love me some SKJ. He's going to come up big at some point. Hopefully we get him back at least one year.

-Ursch is awful. This has been established. I expect to see him <10 minutes in Vegas. Good news is, my boy Ap.com is down for doing the clubs right on Friday.

Best trick or treater costume of the night; little guy maybe 2 years old, dressed like a bum with a sockboggan and 3 day beard growth & a cardboard sign hanging from his neck that said, " will work for candy."

Teague had the highest vertical leap on the 2012 team (2nd highest at the Draft Combine), as well as some of the fastest agility/sprint numbers at the Combine. Other than that, he wasn't a great athlete.

Yeah, I get it. The 2012 team wasn't very athletic. Doron Lamb couldn't dunk.

And of course the 2017 team is more athletic. That's this year's team. Much more NOW than 2012.

The worst part about Halloween is sitting around in the dark, a prisoner in your own home, crossing your fingers and praying nobody sees you inside, let alone actually has the audacity to ring the doorbell on your pitch black front porch.
I would also think that this is the worst part about living in New Orleans, period.

One the positive side: Minimum one day off work, cool but not cold fall weather, family and friends, drinking and eating, football.

One the negative side: Too much starchy food can make your tummy upset

Sorry folks, gotta side with bbdk on this. Pretty clear cut answer.

Family has taken vacation that week 75% of my life so I'm all good with it. However, if my family lived all over the state I would not be very fond of it. I get enough of that stuff on Christmas.

NKY is the best KY, pretty much

One of my best friends lives on Cleveland, you back that way?? We go over there every year for a party with all of our friends/kids, and I noticed my daughter got 3 of those as well. She may have gone to the same house twice though.

- Just a reminder...it's November and the Kentucky Wildcats have a decent shot at Atlanta. :raised_hands:

- Loving all the Halloween pics, from both parents and sloots.

- These recruits have to start popping at some point. Where you at, PJ Washington?

- What are the good Amazon TV series I need to watch?

- [laughing] G, Joey and Ben are going to tear up UK here in about 17 years.

- Last full week working downtown. I'm savoring it. Took some extra long looks at the skyline walking in today. Inhaled deeply as I passed the bums sleeping on the sidewalk. Discretely peeking at the business women at Starbucks. Hitting my favorite lunch spots.

- My girlfriend is insisting we bring our 6-month-old golden retriever on the 9-hour drive to her parents for Thanksgiving. How stupid is this?

-You'd enjoy Catastrophe. Quick watch, and actually funny unlike most of the things some of you recommend.

6-8 hours driving all over the state in 40 hours eating 4-5 redundant meals featuring boring *** turkey, and 'visiting' with extended family I don't give a flip about and see once per year.

Yeah, Thanksgiving sucks compared to other holidays. Anth has it figured out w/ his immediate family vacation. I'm an adult, and get a "Free Pass" to not work anytime I feel like it.

You people who sit around your home area with Mom, Dad, and Brothers watching football, drinking bourbon, and hitting the town Friday night w/ old friends visiting have it lucky, that sounds great -- that's not the case for everyone.

Nothing worse than communicating tons of information in text messages in business. Drives me up a wall. I'm talking the 5 or 6 consecutive text messages coming through that are maxed out. Who reads that crap?

Email isn't so bad, but texting is just awful, if it's more than a simple "be there in 15" or "see you at 5, k?" I don't want your paint colors, hardwood selections, etc. in a damn text message.

I will do whatever is necessary to avoid talking on the phone. I bet I haven't answered my work phone in two months. Email me. IM me. Text me. Fax me. Write me a letter. Send me a telegram. Just don't call me.

Got this in an email this morning:

For item 1 can you call me tomorrow and we can discuss. Shouldn’t be a long conversation.

No, as a matter of fact I cannot call you. I will reread item 1 until I think I have it figured out, then email you my conclusion.

Learned last night that my wife had *never* given out Halloween candy before (our other homes we didnt get much traffic). A 31 year old woman was completely lost- just giving handfuls and handfuls to everyone. "But they were cute and said please!!". We definitely had returners coming before it was even dark. Had to make a Publix run before 7PM to restock.

Our neighborhood did it right though. All houses chip in and 3-4 houses hosted a big front yard party with food and brews, then one adult would take a small group of kids trick-or-treating for a while, then another would replace them, so they could go back and fill their cup and eat more chi-fil-a nuggets. Good system and seemed to work pretty well. Costume go-to seemed to be the "house wife who just got home from pilates"

Best costume I saw was a kid dressed as that Dr. Pepper guy on the college football commercials.

I prefer text messages so I can go back and point out to my wife that "No this is exactly what you said" each time she accuses me of forgetting or screwing something up.

Jet.com >> Amazon for a few recent purchases. Not completely sold on it yet but i've taken advantage of their new customer 15% off deals.

No plans this weekend for the 1st time in awhile. Time to get my yard back in gear. Leaves, tree limbs, etc... excited about this cleanup effort.

I routinely drive by where that gas line exploded yesterday... you could see the smoke from a long ways away. Sad situation.

NCAAT ticket email got sent out this morning... good to see no North Carolina sites on there.

What if i told you that: The Daly 30 for 30 is on tonight.

When told he needed to lose weight before playing for Steve Loy at Arkansas, Daly says he lost 67 pounds in two-and-a-half months on a diet of "Jack Daniels and popcorn." He later admits to drinking a fifth of Jack Daniels a day for about six months straight when he was 23.

Know what else I hate? Being handed a manilla envelope containing cash and a card for one of the work hen's baby shower. Now I have to cough up some cash to contribute to a gift, which sucks, but what's worse is that I have to sign the card. Everyone else that's signed it so far has written a nice paragraph talking about what a blessing babies are, what a special time this is, get some sleep now (lol), and that kind of nonsense. So far, I've got "Dear Work Hen, Congrats." Now what? I feel like I have to add something else. But, this chick already has two kids. She knows they're a blessing, blah, blah, blah. And why the F are we giving her a baby shower anyway? I thought that was just for new mothers? I consider a shower for kid #3 a grievous breach of etiquette. And it seems like we're doing something like this every week. A sense of dread envelops me every time one of these envelopes gets dropped on my desk. "What sort of fresh hell is this? What insincere statement do I have to pull out of my *** this time?" And it's not like I can just sign it and move on. No, I have to consult the distribution list on the front of the envelope, cross out my name, then deliver it to the next person on the list. So now I've been assigned a task. And inevitably the only people left on the distribution are ones I don't know and/or hate. Now I have to monitor their comings and goings so that I can deliver the envelope when they're not at their desk, lest I have to talk to them and give them a brief summary of what's in the envelope, which makes it look like I endorse this ********. So, essentially, this has ruined my day. Just let me do my job/post on GYERO and go home. :grimace::gun:
