Took the boat out to watch the Blue Angels air show yesterday, which is super ridiculous admiring our war toys do some amazing stunts while burning through hundreds of thousands of tax dollars. Fun times.

Overcast, mid 70s and done with work, Thai food on the way, rented the big short. :sunglasses:

Yep. Family time. Quick visit to West 6th for a brew. Hard work out. Watched some golf. Smoked a couple whole chickens. Washed down with wine/scotch and some great company. In bed reading some Bryson. It ain't all bad, folks.

The B12 FINALLY gets a non Kansas team in the FF, for the first time in over a decade - and they proceed to lose by 44? :joy: Great league, that B12, great league. Maybe they can get every single team in the tourney next year.

The UNC thing is triple maddening. They should already be serving their post-season suspension, but of course, they lawyered their way into a delay by throwing some other sports under the bus. Then they face about the easiest road to a title game in history. UK NEVER, EVER gets those breaks.

Then Nova goes out and shoots their wad in the OK game (reminds me of UK vs Wake in 2010). 100% stone cold lock they are cold as ****, and lose their front court to foul trouble immediately. Basically a replay of the Illinois game, where the refs touched Illinois in the *** right out of the gate.

The list of Champs since Cal got to UK has been absolutely unbearable, and this will pretty much be the icing. What's interesting is those 4 schools have also had massive scandals. Well, Duke's scandals should have been massive, but the NCAA and media are up K's ***. The 2010 title is absolutely fraudulent, and they had a gd rapist on last year's team. Pretty sure 'Jah was into some shady **** as well.

Maaaaaaan, fck the NCAA.

couldn't have said it better myself. the only saving grace is that duke lost.

Monday randoms:

Excellent meal at Distilled friday night. May have to work that place back into the rotation.

Pulling for Nova, but I know whats gonna happen. Fack.

Saw Batman/Superman. Was actually better than I expected. Still way too long. That Gal Gadot though :fire:

Great night at Lex Gel last night. Had some pretty epic battles. Very gritty. UCL took a beating on some fast breaks. Geese started finding his range. JR brought the hustle. Mike was on fire. Getting used to my role down low, but feeling my age this morning...Nice meeting UKguy78 too. No clue where Brax was.

Does Louisville even exist?

Lol at drunk AnthDK planning a quick Masters Trip at midnight Saturday. We were REALLY going this time...before we passed out 20 minutes later and woke up in the real world where Anth realized he was married with a little kid & I realized I can't afford it.

Maybe next year (false)

Or the next year (false)

Or the next year (false)

-Will is certainly correct. The fact that this staff can still recruit at the level they're recruiting is very impressive. We've stock piled a lot of talent the last 4 years. Now they need to address developing that talent and adjusting mid season. Oh, and not starting a locker room war with the OC. They're still not, and never will be, recruiting to a level that we can just win with talent alone.

-I had no idea tickets were that expensive for Masters. Still don't really believe that we couldn't get in for 3-400 Wednesday and 5-600 on Thursday. $2200 on Stubhub? Um, false. Just need to plan it. Like I said, call it 2018 and we'll be on the books. With Final Four it might be a little tricky.

-Why was Wrestlemania all over Sportscenter? The Bachelor going to be next? Survivor? Naked and Afraid? Simpsons?

-OK, cold nights and highs of 52. Get out of my forecast. It's April.

Per lots of friends who've done it, you just have to take cash and scalp in town/around the course. You can get in well under that, but it's going to be expensive regardless. I'll be treating it like a bucket list trip when the time comes, so whatever. Just need to plan it well in advance.

Wed-Fri would seem perfect. I know the practice rounds are awesome, but I'm not making that trip JUST for practice rounds only...need to see at least one day of real action.

Wednesday Practice Round to get familiar with the place, scope some spots, see all the players, hit up the Par 3 Tourney. Then, 2 days of a full field. :fire::fire::fire:

I've always wanted to do a practice round on the cheap with a buddy to at least see the place. Buy tickets for Monday at $250-300. Leave Sunday at 3 or 4, spend the night in a cheap hotel within an hour of Augusta, wake up Monday am and go to course from 8-3 or 4, drive home and be back at work on Tuesday. $500 bucks for tix, gas, booze, hotel.

Meh, I agree with BBdk. I'd prefer to see at least 1 round. Walk the place with a solid but not featured pairing. Catch the rest coming in. Obviously something that would need to be planned and not a spur of the moment deal. I basically have 3-4 places to stay in Augusta for free so that really makes it easier.

My one and only trip to Augusta was for the practice round the day after we won #8. After a late night and driving out at the crack of dawn, you forget how tired you are once you see the clubhouse, the pristine course, feel the buzz, the weather getting warmer and follow Rory as he's sweating bullets from pressure yanking tee shots into the trees.

As great of a day as that was, I'll never forget the giant ninja that ran up to me at the metal detector asking me what I'm doing. He saw a divot repair tool on my key chain, didn't know what it was and made me throw it in the trash.

- The high for the weekend in Augusta is 64 on Sat and 71 on Sun. Can't wait for Bubba to blame his caddy for it not being warmer for him.

I mean, that sounds pretty terrible. 16+ hour RT drive over 40 hours to watch guys hit balls and practice for 7 hours? Yes, I totally get SEEING Augusta in person is most of the experience.

Still, for most of us, The Masters is a bucket list trip...why not spend a little extra and make something of it? I've wanted to go for 30 years and haven't yet, so not like it's ever going to be a normal trip for anyone.

That would be like going to the Final 4 fan fest for your 1st time, and then coming home imo, which of course BRax did.

We have a group of friends that all apply for the Masters ticket lottery every year with the understanding we take each other if we win. Our group has won 4 times since 2012 including 2 different days in 2014 and this Wednesday.

Just a perfect trip for a group of guys.

Not my first or 2nd choice, but since i have been thinking on it for 20 years and never seen it, its certainly an option on the cheap. And if you are being real an 8 hour trip with a buddy to see Augusta and the anticipation would not be miserable. That's just false, the trip which isn't all that far, would fly by and be memorable.

My PayPal account got hacked Saturday and yesterday. Thanks, Jaime.

Somebody with an Arabic name requested $300, opened my email and approved it and then did the same thing again 12 hours later for $180.

While I was on the phone with PayPal, another Arabic name did the same thing for $200.

I watched it live. It was weird, the email request showed up, looked like it was opened and then was approved.

No money was ever actually sent, but it is scary, regardless.

Went out Saturday night with the boys. Hoots on the River, Jerzee's and some new Bourbon bar in Newport. Good times.

Called Uber for a ride back home (30 miles). "Due to heavy demand, rates are 2.5x normal." $70. ********.

I was lucky. That was at 1:30. When my buddies called after closing the bar then destroying some Dixie Chili rates were 5x normal. They paid $70 for a 10 minute ride.

If you ever want to go to the Masters and happen to see white hat guy in public just grab his gym bag, he use to just keep tickets with his basketball clothes.

I would absolutely make the trip again for "just" a practice round. Every chance I get.

No doubt, BBDK is just being a hard ***. He doesnt understand the concept of the practice round at Augusta, and neither did I before I went. I was kind of bummed it was only the Wednesday practice round, until I walked in the front gates. Its phenomenal. Stop in the tent, bought 3 or 4 shirts, go over to the Fed Ex stand and have them ship it directly to your house so you dont have to carry bags around all day.

Its really relaxed, you can see the entire course, follow some guys around. We followed Dustin Johnson and Paulina was walking with him. Then head over to 16 and watch them skip their shots off the water. Got to stand on the ropes directly behind 18 tee and watch 4 or 5 groups tee off and its without question one of the most intimidating tee shots Ive ever seen. Walk down the hill and they have it marked on 10 where bubba hit his wrapping hook wedge, which seems impossible when you are standing there. Up by the clubhouse, golfers just standing around out in the public with their families, can walk right up to them. Then we went and watched the Par 3 tourney and it was awesome.

If you dont go just because its a practice round, youre an idiot. Its a once in a lifetime experience no matter what day it is. And you can see a helluva lot more during a practice round than you can a regular round. And its physically exhausting spending 10 hours out there. TV does not do justice as to how hilly the place was.

In say the last 20 years of my college basketball fandom I really cared about who actually won the championship game. My rooting interest who won the game started off good:

1996 UK Syracuse
1997 UK Arizona
1998 UK Utah
1999 UCONN Duke
2000 MSU Florida
2001 Duke Arizona
2002 Maryland Indiana
2003 Syracuse Kansas
2004 UCONN Georgia Tech(lol)
2005 Illinois UNC
2006 Florida UCLA
2007 Florida Ohio St
2008 Memphis Kansas
2009 UNC MSU
2010 Duke Butler
2011 UCONN Butler
2012 UK Kansas
2013 Louisville Michigan
2014 UK UCONN
2015 Duke Wisconsin

And that is why UNC will win tonight because it is all about me.

Nope. It's really very simple. If I go for a Wednesday practice round, which I'd LOVE to do, there is a 100% chance I'd stick around at least one more day for the Tournament and scalp a ticket.

I'm just a hardass like that.

- Happy Opening Day! I wish I was excited about baseball and the Reds, but it's a great day up here nonetheless. People have been out pounding since 8am.

- Please, God, save us, Villanova.

- I really need to roll up and check out a game here sometime.

We are leaving at 1130. My buddies bought the limo ride, $500 gift card to Montgomery Inn Boat house, tix, etc., package that Urschel did with us a few years ago, and you met up with us later that night. Really glad its 50 and rainy though. Nice to come home to after 80 on the beach for a week.

Anyone else been taking the free money that is the UConn women's basketball team? :fire:

WrestleMania dominated Twitter yesterday. Didn't even realize it was still a big thing. Pretty hilarious that all the books take bets on it, given many people seem to know in advance the outcome. I was scared to bet it, but our guys went 6-1 on it.

Glad it's 50 and rainy for that shitshow of a team. Gut wrenching to start a season with literally no hope. Have fun celebrating Day 2 of MLB.

BTW, 62 and no clouds 80 miles south in Lexington. Gorgeous.

April in this area is just as likely to be 50 and rainy as it is to be 65+ and nice. People forget that.

Someday you will find me caught beneath the landslide.

In a champagne VillaNOVA in the sky.

Go Cats.

That is the very last song they piped through the Superdome in 2012, after all of the post-game celebrations were over, everyone had left the court, and all of the remaining fans were being ushered out. When that song ended, they cut off the PA system and started turning off the lights.

Kind of a random, strange choice, but that song will always remind me of that scene.

I just turned down free tix. If the game started at noon or 1:00, I would head down. 4:00? No thanks.

My 3 year old has her first ever soccer practice at 5:30 anyway. Will definitely be more exciting.

The Reds offense should be pretty good, at least until Bruce and Phillips get dealt, but that pitching staff is going to be an all-time bad one.

I always see betting lines for wrestling but I still don't think I understand it considering many of the bets are guarantees. Even is a line is -300, like The Undertaker winning last night, why would you not just put the $300 down to get $100? Do you not get the $300 back?
