Speaking of getting made fun of for going to ****, bought my Batman v. Superman tickets yesterday. Friday matinee. Knocking off early at 3pm to watch The Dark Knight & Son of Krypton. Early reviews have been great.
I actually spoke with mmharmon the other night, and jokingly asked if he was at the women's game. Didn't even know there was one, and he in fact was. Dude still loves his hossies, though. Looking forward to blowing some $$ at the Louisiava Derby with him Saturday.

Well in the climax of Man of Steel Superman and Zod fight in Metropolis and the ensuing destruction kills tens of thousands of people. One of the buildings destroyed in the fight is a Wayne Enterprises building and presumably hundreds or thousands of Bruce Wayne's employees perished in the building. Bruce Wayne is actually Batman. In this version, he's in his 40's and old and bitter. He feels Superman is a threat to humanity and years as Batman in Gotham have made him incredibly cynical. Bruce feels as if it is his responsibility as Batman to protect humanity by taking out Superman. Superman thinks Batman is a dangerous vigilante operating outside the law and does not approve of his methods i.e. beating the **** out of suspects.They will eventually square their differences though and join Wonder Woman and presumably Aquaman to battle an even greater threat.
And to the greater point, they have fought in the comic books at various time over the years, most notably in The Dark Knight Returns, which was one of the inspirations for this interpretation of Batman.

Was hoping Batman vs. Superman would be kinda like a World Star fight shot from a shaky cell phone in a high school parking lot. Crowd forms around the two of them, Superman rips his shirt off and says something along the lines of "square up den!" as the crowd hoots and hollers.
