What do you do if your kid doesnt like sports? I've got a nephew in Tuscaloosa who is 11... terrible athlete. Smart kid though, likes building **** and drawing. But i've got little to talk to him about. His dad never played sports either, and I assume thats what the problem is.

Can't imagine not having to take my kid to practices, tossing the ball in the back yard, etc...
What do you do if your wife is a former competitive figure skater, college figure skater & coach, Figure Skating in Harlem coach and still coaches part time for fun - and her sister is a former professional "ice show" performer - and you have a son.

How do you bribe your son to feign interest for an initial lesson to make mom happy and then ensure that he loses all interest?

Asking for a friend, need to know by next year. TIA.

The really smart lawyers are the ones who figure out how to make money not lawyering, something I will always give credit to Matt Jones for doing.

I apparently, am not one of those.

A broken knee during that first spin around the ice is a classic short term loss, long term gain scenario.

Max Powerrr gets it. More SCUTTLE BUTT, less NBA.

And can a guy get some Nashville updates? Nobody saying F it and taking off work early? BBDK off the hook already for skipping the SECT? No poetry from RIchie about hoots and beers and what nots? Not even a single humble brag and its Thursday afternoon. WTF is going on around here?

so Pitino leaving the door open on him not coaching UL next year depending on how horrific his encounter with the NCAA goes. and finding out he is now looking at the shame of a 10 to 15 game suspension to start 16-17.

hope the investigator assigned the task of being his interviewer grew up worshiping A Few Good Men & has watch the Col Jessup cross examination scene a million times

Joey driving his little son to figure skating practice in his Fiat.... man.
I assume by the time the figure skating comes Joey will be driving a paradigm shifting, autonomous, synergetic, modular transportation device.

Which constantly orients itself towards the optimal refractive angle for more efficient heating and cooling, obviously

I have three older sisters who couldn't give a flying f*ck about sports. One will watch a game I'm at to see if she can see me (because I'm perpetually a child to her), one feigns interest but also asks her husband questions like "Are they related?" when they show the Harrison twins on tv together.

The other has asked multiple times in the past few years "Who is John Calipari?" The most recent time being last week. My mother laughed, my father looked like he had failed her. Honestly, I'm a little impressed that someone who lives in Ky. could somehow escape knowing this.

Point being... have an absurd number of kids and the sport fanatic thing is bound to stick with one of them.

Bonus story: We had "family Christmas" on the day of the UofL game this season. Sister who doesn't know who John Calipari is in the room, mostly laughing at me until they show Pitino on the broadcast... her response "Oh my God, is that Rick Pitino? What happened to him?" Welp, the last time you probably saw him was in the late 90s when he coached a UK and dad forced your *** to watch. So some things will stick no matter what, apparently.

We've gone to Halloween as Kerrigan & Gillooly before (very distasteful in hindsight) so I have the gear, and technically the mustache is just waiting to be revealed.

Also, I'll have you know that I'm now seeking out an old-***, used (obviously), Land Cruiser at the moment, so joke's on you, Clark. I won't really need it for a while, so I am taking my sweet time, if you must know.

Besides, name one car that is funnier to buy before your wife arrives in your new location than an Abarth. You can't. So it was only a mistake in the very real and crushing financial depriation sense, idiot. Get real.

Anyways, I will always still have my cherry 1991 Miata to drive him to sports practice when the time comes. And if he's being a little **** that day, I'll pop in the same CD I used to blast when I rolled up to pick up my brother from high school football practice, "The Theme Song from Inspector Gadget."

I had a shameful amount of Michigan gear in my youth. And I hated the Fab Five for the '93 Final Four. In the peak of the Curry **** days, I adopted Michigan football for some reason. I hated Nebraska and hated Florida, so the Wolverines must have seemed like a good option at the time. Mumme got me back in the boat a couple years later.

Would love to know what my dad was thinking when I went through that phase.

The 90s, as a whole, produced the most unwatchable NBA basketball you could ever imagine. The college game was a much better product.

A very broad (a decade) and 100% ignorant statement. If you had said 1993, for example, then you could break that down. Throwing 10 yrs worth out there w/ such a general swipe is asinine given that some of the best teams/players in NBA history played in that time frame.

On a related note, it's amazing how much little kids love Steph Curry. He is their Jordan, and I think him being relatively small only adds to his appeal. On Sunday afternoon, my five-year-old watched the Warriors game by himself while the rest of us were doing other things.

Also under armour, it's amazing how much they prefer it to Nike. I think Steph curry throwing an under armour piece of clothing to a kid would destroy the Internet

I don't know if I've told this story to GYERO or not but it seems like a good time, good "come to Jesus" moment between father and son...

My dad was a mid-level D1 football recruit in the 70's, free safety btw (guess the size and elite athleticism skipped a generation, putting all that pressure to be everything I never was as an athlete on my son now, should be a healthy childhood for him but I digress...). Anyway, he was down to a few schools, UK, Vandy, maybe a couple other SEC teams. He goes to my grandfather and announces he had committed to Vandy. As Charlie Murphy would say, "wrong!"

That afternoon after practice my dad comes home to find my grandfather, Frank Ramsey, and a few other less notable K club members with commitment papers to UK in hand ===> it was a full blown intervention. Yeah, my ol' man only thought he had a choice in the matter. He didn't. Went on to play for Curci on some pretty good teams and is now thankful for it.

My grandfather gets it.

Gran said that the base of his offensive pace is an 18 second per play tempo. This means he intends to run a play every 18 seconds. That’s fast. Gran went on to say that game situation will impact pace as well. If it needs to go faster, it can go as quickly as 12-13 seconds. However, if necessary, it can go slower to assist the defense. We heard tempo/pace last spring and fall. Expect to actually see rapid play in the fall.

FALSE - all of it.

[thumb2] Killa, not sure if you listened to Tim Couch on Jones' podcast a few weeks ago, but that exact same thing happened with him. Couch committed to Tennessee. His dad wasn't having it. They got into a huge fight and Tim stayed with his buddy for a couple nights before coming home and saying, "Dad, I guess if it means this much to you, I'll go to Kentucky and give it a year."

GrandePdre, I usually give fellow large mammals the benefit of the doubt on food opinions, but you couldn't be more off on The Works pizza. Makes me question if you are even a big eater or if you have some sort of gland issue, to be honest.

It even got Anth's stamp of approval.

Meh, I'm sure I caught them on a bad day. Just like f***ing with you about it.

I'm more pissed you've never mentioned Grammas. That pizza was legit.

Been monitoring the thread for ten years now, and this is by far one of the best posts I've ever read. I guess, in fairness, we'll give you top-5, but you get a beer on me when I get the chance.

Reading the part about your father walking in and there was your grandfather, Mr. Ramsey and the K-Club boys, first thing popped in my mind was when Bear sent Humzey Yessin to Harlan to "Get Wah Jones' *** up here before Tennessee gets him.."

Good stuff, Wildcat Friend...[thumb2]

It was excellent. 90% of athlete interviews are "meh" but Couch is an interesting, insightful guy.

The Couch story about him "giving it a year" was pretty depressing considering it was a real **** the bed year for Curry and the gang. If he didnt have to sit out a year bc of the transfer- he wouldve been gone.

My high school was in Leslie County's district when Couch was there. You could tell he was a star his freshman year of high school. Seeing him run the option under Curry made me want to throw up. What a brutal misuse of a player.

I actually kinda hated Larry Bird and for no other reason than him being my dad's favorite of all-time and having to endure countless games of 1-on-1 on the driveway being ****-talked to and cheated out of every winning opportunity by him reenacting his favorite LB shot then making it.

Payback was death by 1,000 short-hopped pitches into the dirt and enjoying watching him go *** over elbows off a 5 gallon bucket yet keeping his cigar in his mouth screaming "aww ****".

Couch pretty much works out, plays golf, and waits for his kids to get home everyday. Basically the life of a HOF NFL retiree with only a fraction of the physical toll others in his position have taken.

Flaming out in the NFL couldn't have worked out better for him, really.
He also (I think) still comes home to his arguably GOAT Playboy centerfold wife. Not bad for a boy from Hyden - a true pit stain.

And I would have never heard the stories of Couch's Dad yelling "Suck my cock" to USC fans or mocking a one armed Florida fan doing the Gator chomp.

If anyone but the expansion Browns had drafted him, he'd have played 12-15 years.

Still not the life of being an ish coach like Shannon Dawson who gets fired but still cashes in on guaranteed contract

today's example of that: Rutgers Eddie Jordan! 29-68, fired today but still gets to go home with another $2.1M!!
