Growing up, I couldn't get enough of the opening treehouse scene in Stand By Me, mainly bc it was one of the first times I heard kids cuss. I was mesmerized.

An American Tale was also '86, which was the first flick I ever saw at the theater.

I've seen 2 bracketologies today that have us as a 5 seed. What the H.

CBS has us playing Purdue in the second and Kansas in the Sweet 16.

No like.

I'm not convinced Jerry Palm has any idea what he's doing (plus, his hair is dumb). He had Wichita missing the Tournament while Lunardi has them as a 7 seed. Not sure how 2 guys who get paid to project brackets can make such wildly different predictions.

Regardless of what happens in the conference tourneys, I'm certain we will be in the same bracket as UNC, Zona, Purdue, and/or any other team with a big, physical frontcourt. No doubt in my mind.

Watching these 2 slap dicks play and it really pisses me off that we lost to them. We'd be looking at a 1 seed right now.

- Absolutely love my new job, working my *** off, 16+ hour days...but it's fun.

Every single politician and lobbyist is an alcoholic, not surpring, I know. Our office might as well be Sterling/Cooper. Everyone's office fully stocked, hot secretaries everywhere, and a smokeshow office manager.

- Already been moved from the Omaha office to the Lincoln office next to the Capitol. #Rise

- Had a county commissioner tell me today that casinos are worse than heroin.

- Lincoln > Omaha. Love college towns. *** everywhere.

- Liquor is CHEAP here. Fifth a Pinnacle is $4.99. Still working on stocking my office bar with the good stuff.

- This is the first day I've been home before 9pm. Netflix and chill.

GLT sounds delicious. Large mammals unite.

FBDO played a large role in my mental development. That hit list is some pure 80's gold.

Pinnacle vodka? Jesus Tommy, get real.

SECT tomorrow.

Yeah, it's not great vodka. I'm not a GD doctor. I'm a former community college teacher who has been at this new job a little more than a week. Waiting for my next payday to stock with the Tito's. *****.

Current office bar set up:

Pinnacle
Knob Creek
Tanquery
Walker Red

All will be upgraded soon.

It was pretty clear when they showed Bruce trying to rally the troops pre game and they responded with the excitement of Jazzy at Minardi Hall that they were getting run.

Missed it initially, but are you lobbying for, or against, expanded gambling/racinos out there?

-How'd the visit to Fonner go?

Lobbying FOR racinos/expanded gaming.

Fonner was neat, different than any track I had been to...very dated, but charming. I'll be back there Saturday trying to woo some commissioners.

They know basically nada about horse racing in this state. No idea how/what to bet...not that I'm an expert, but I can at least read a race sheet and pretend to handicap.

The main thing going against our campaign right now is Tom F***ing Osborne. Dude is a God in this state and has made anti-gaming basically his entire platform over the years.

Yeah, that'll be a tough row to hoe there.

Lobbying FOR racinos/expanded gaming.

Been playing the horses for waaay too long, but EG is the only way they'll be able to help the racing scene out there. Not even trying to "tell" you your business, but just shy away from the Penn National, Mountaineer, and Charlestown folks as an example. Oklahoma has expanding their gambling situation, and as you know, Remington Park has had a resurgence in their purse structure and attendance last couple years, so it can indeed be done. Hang in there, man.

-Fonner Park...home of the $3,000 claimer. I like the small tracks. They have their quirks which set them apart from the A circuit, and they really go out of their way with the hospitality to make up for the lack of a big time atmosphere.

-Aksarben used to be the big track out there, and had successful meets during their heyday. They killed it in '04 though.

Appreciate the advice.

The track here in Lincoln holds one race a year, a one furlong race with three horses, they only do it so they can have simulcast the rest of the year.

Apparently a couple years ago one of the horses kept running after the furlong, ran straight through a field, and they found it 2.5 miles down the road in a bank parking lot.

That's a trip.

-Peeped Fonner's website, and I see they do have the Keno, so its a start. Another good part of a small track is cheap seats for the clubhouse.

-Forgot about Lincoln Downs. That simo will keep the lights on, but that's about it. Pretty sure they used to hold a mixed summer meet there, tbreds & QH, but that was a good while ago, man.

/old degenerate.

Nebraska is one of those great unknown states for me. No clue what it's like. Are there trees? Seems very yellow and brown. Outside of Nebraska Football games and the College World Series, that's all I got on Nebraska. Just in a weird spot. Hard to get to. Not a pass through state.

Good luck Tommy. Fighting Osborne would be like fighting Tomma J in Louisville.

Omaha is actually very hilly, suprised me. The rest of the state is flat with no trees. I've been to about 30 of the 90 counties so far, just a kind of boring, flat state. No curb appeal whatsoever.

Omaha and Lincoln are two really cool cities though, especially Lincoln. Could see myself living in either long term. Reminds me a lot of Lexington, you have a good mix of college students, old money, and farmers.

It's pretty much the stereotypical midwestern state. Lot's of good, hard working people who are very independent and very friendly.

The weather surprised me, thought it'd be freezing still...nope. Mid 70's all week, then gets really cold at night.

Also, coming from NC, it's weird that there are basically no black people. Think I've seen five the entire time here, two of them were football players.

Greatest Time Of The Year Shorts:

- Towns is averaging 17.7p, 10.2r. :raised_hands:

- No offense to any of you horse player degenerates, but few things are more depressing to me than old rundown horse tracks. It's almost like you've transported yourself back to 1985 in those places. Same with bowling alleys.

- I have never understood how a son could be a fan of a different team than his father, let alone their blood rival. Who are these people?

- Congrats to Bill Simmons and Holy Cross for shoplifting the pooty last night and stealing a birth with a sub-.500 record.

- Looking forward to the Duke LAX 30for30. Read a book on it and it's enraging the prosecutorial misconduct in that one.

- Pleasepleasepleeeeez keep Syracuse and UConn out of the tournament.

- Not only is Golden State the funnest team to watch, they have the best jerseys, too, by far. Just a great product out in Oaktown these days.

- I wonder what former '00s-era UK stars will eventually get into coaching. Tayshaun Prince? Chuck Hayes?

- Nothing hotter than a babe in a UK babytee and some jeans/yoga pants. It's perhaps the best part about the SEC Tourney.

Jason King alert. Dude's wasting away at Bleacher Report and it feels like we haven't heard from him since October, but this piece on Marcus Lee being just the best dude ever is very good.

It's a crime what BR has done with a once-great talent.

By the way, I guess we should blame PTI(pti) for this, but not ALL writers need to be on TV as well. Some of those dudes are writers for a reason. Guys like Jeff Goodman, Stew Mandel, Brian Windhorst, etc. should stay behind the scenes.

FWIW, I picked the Cubs (Dena from Chicago) over the Cards (Mel from southern Illinois) and to this day he feels like he's failed as a father. And I'm not even counting the only child ish he's dealt with.
