Cutting cable, making the leap and kids and wife are all in on the decision. Wasn't aware I was already paying for Hulu, Amazon Prime, and Netflix so clearly once I found out what everything is, it is a no brainer.

I've seen people here post about it so I have 2 questions:

1- Once I do and I keep my Time Warner Internet will my watch ESPN app still be of any use?

2- What options besides being in public are there for watching sports?

If you're going to "cut" you're going to have to sign up for Sling as a sports fan to reasonably avoid watching games in public.

I did it for a few months this year because we were in a little bit of a fight place financially for a period... It's not worth not being able to check your phone, etc during a game for a big sports fan. Cut somewhere else

Eh, not cutting to pinch pennies just tired of my TW bill coming in at 160 a month and I only get football/basketball games from it. I also get MLB network in the summer for baseball so it's just for football/basketball.

Also I thought there are people that have done this and still get the games.

My Dish is about 5-10 seconds behind live action and it drives me nuts. I can't imagine being 30 seconds or more behind on Sling.

It's not that bad, really. Plus, if you want to flip over to the other game during a timeout of halftime, you just have to change apps, unplug the HDMI, pull up HULU, reset the converter, switch to HDM2, bring up Sling, then wait for it all to connect...then BOOM, you have Wisky/IU.

Then, when you want to go back to UK/Auburn, you just do the same in reverse. Only takes about 2 minutes. At MOST, you'll miss 2-3 game sequences (per switch)

Plus, you save $20 per month. Once you get used to missing tons of plays in any game you're interested in, it's actually pretty awesome.

Makes you realize sports really aren't all that important, which we could all benefit from IMO.

Win/Win, imo.

It doesn't suck because it's complicated, it just sucks because it takes longer to do everything. But it's not complicated.

Speaking of Netflix, I'm 4 episodes in on Fuller House (because I'm a cool ***** slaying mother f*cker) and it's pretty true to the original, in terms of being totally lame and goofy. A B Rax winner

Don't have cable and haven't missed a second of any football or basketball game all season and it's all been in HD quality. In fact during football season it was better because the Goalline channel was included.

Of course I have fast internet and know what I'm doing.

Congrats.

Like I said, if you're a true sports fan, it will suck for you. If your only interest is watching 2 UK games per week, it's probably fine.

On a Super Tuesday, or prime CFB Saturday (or whatever) when you're bouncing around between games in the 100 hours per week when UK ISN'T playing....AKA, a hardcore sports fan's life???? --- it sucks.

Not to mention non-sports nights when you wanna bounce between local news, COPS, Food, Sportscenter, In The Kitchen With David, FoxNews, Shawshank, , ******** reality shows, etc.

But then again, you ARE Cricket...congrats on the small savings as a working adult. Add that up over 5 years and you can go to Ruby's for a celebratory dinner!!! :fire: Maybe even a room at 21C as well.

Enjoy #losers

So bad idea!

F it really thought by now it wasn't necessary and I could find games easily. I was also hopin to keep the watch ESPN app access since I was keeping Internet. I've watched most games on an iPad anyway.

MLB and NFL are easy fixes but college sports not so much.

Hate the fact that I have to watch NBA League Pass on a device since my Cable Company doesn't carry it.

Sucks being 10 seconds behind when you follow beat writers, team accounts, etc on twitter.

Could never do it full-time. No sir.

I pay $80 less a month so yeah I could afford those things after 5 years with $5000.

krazy, based on your questions, just stick with cable.

They like them blindsides Hyman..you keep your self in check..

Always. No problems though. Rolled in OG.

Knew my ish, got nothing but respect from the brothers.

Method and Redman KILLED it. Out of the touching park.

Endless warmup acts, that were pretty much all awful, but when M and R came on they blew the roof off. Capacity crowd that got it.

Helluva a show.

The crowd was mostly older black dudes like me, and bohemian winjas.

Gotta say, that's a nice venue, but they were slammed.

I pre-gamed in the car before I went in, didn't want to try holding, the security pat down was 'thorough' It didn't deter some folks though, because it was endless spliff inside.

Damn Chick fila simpletons

Only use for Polynesian is to stir it in with mayo to dip the fries in.
You're welcome.

Wright Brand bacon is the undisputed king of pork, no question there. Just grabbed their barrel aged bourbon pack the other day...

...but if you really want to step your breakfast meat game up, smoked salmon has to be in your rotation. Makes a classic morning egg dish on fleek, as the kids say.

Lox and bagel, maybe my all time breakfast favorite. Tomato, red onion, capers, cream cheese and smoked salmon. Shewee.

Wish we had an Einstein or Bruegger bagel in Lex.

-CFA is the best sauce they have. TS. Bagel is the best breakfast sandwich.

-Lockbox was pretty damn good. Right on par with Metropole and Proof. Space is really awesome. Great addition to the downtown.

-Cord cutters. [laughing] Losers. Per use, my boy de Knocta crushed it. I'm thinking of doubling down. Dish + Time Warner.

-Fuller house, meh. Those type of shows were just in the right era and will never hold up. That being said they did a decent job staying true. DJ is looking solid for a MILF and Steph is rocking some porn star lopsided beefers.

-Work today. Hoping to duck out right before the game, if not guess I'm in for the long haul.

-71 DEGREES TOMORROW :fire::100points::cool2: Hopefully go for a run, grill some meat, maybe a colide.

Lockbox was fun. Great atmosphere. Think my favorites were the octopus and Sloot's redfish.

Was very happy to see Anth with more energy. Maybe he will be able to contribute to Team Lex's takedown of the Louisville GEL.

Time Warner for internet, local channels ( Direct does not offer in BG), one HD box for the Family Room. $98 per month. (****** DVR service, if you are recording 2 shows at once, no turning the tv, unless you delete one.

Direct TV (wireless) with Ultimate package, every pay channel, fox sports package, the works really. $164 per month. (Genie lets you DVR 4- 5 at a time)

If you haven't switched to Direct TV wireless, you are really missing out. If you want to move a TV watching experience to anywhere inside or outside of your house, all you need is the little mini box, HDMI cord, and tv. I have a tv mounted on my deck, so mini box and HDMI cord is all that is needed.

That is $264 per month combined, most here blow that per week. I would rather cancel car insurance and ride around dirty if I got in a pinch and had to choose. Sunday Ticket, NBA League Pass, etc, remember why we do this. Eff some switching cables, buffering, and all that noise.

- Man, Jones' Doyel podcast was a disappointment. First time I thought it sucked, and with a guest I was pumped to hear from. Talked actual sports maybe 5 minutes. Would have loved to hear about his takes on the Indiana basketball scene, Crean and Cal, UK, this season of college basketball, etc. Instead, it was all about Doyel's depression, his Twitter beefs with other sports writers, etc. I'm cool with a little of that stuff, but too many times these sports media members think we give a ish about their lives. We're listening to hear sports conversation.
I just listened to it and would like to QFT in hopes that Matt sees it again.

This podcast is the exactly the terrible navel gazing that Jones rips other sports writers for.

Please don't interview any other whiny friends about their whining, TIA.

I like mags but he really just uses the podcasts to fish for compliments from his guests.

My wife's cousin has a baby last night so she was at the hospital from 12a - 6a, then went straight to her school for an academic team competition or some silly thing. And this afternoon we are having ~25 people over for our daughters 2nd birthday party, so she'll be on like 36 hours with no sleep so today is going to be super fun and chill.

Really hope the cats come out and play well against a fiesty vandy team that's fighting for their tournament lives

- Mags would have a perfect score on the narcissist scale.

- The Pioneer Woman - there is something about that red hair that does it for me. Man, what a catch she would have been 15-20 years ago.

Ladycat, I was saying Direct did not offer locals. Nah, locals with TW comes with basic. We have NBC, Fox, and ABC local, as well as CBS channel 5 out of Nashville, I have a off air antenna with Direct TV but the damn thing quit working, and it never picked up NBC for some odd reason. It would get WBKO13 ABC, Fox, and sometimes CBS. Sunday Night Football is on NBC, which is another reason for TW. The $98 most of it is for upgraded internet / speed and HD box.

Clay Travis posted the Campus Crime data. Summary -> Pac 12 and B1G are very rapey. Like scary rapey. Way to go Penn State at least they're equal opportunity over there.
