So now Serial's angle is starting to show. She's making a case that the Army should have looked more into Bergdahl being psychiatrically discharged from the Coast guard before he joined the Army, and having a schizotypal personality disorder.

And because of this personality disorder, his paranoia and such, somehow justifies why he ran off his post and deserted....so its the Army's fault.

Is that still a podcast? Man they really ruined it.

Pretty much nailed it. I suppose you could begrudgingly add important weddings.

F'ing millennials.

I'm a millennial and I cancelled dinner plans with the in-laws that drove a couple of hours up for the FIL's b-day. Instead of eating with them, I watched us collapse against Auburn. Was a smooth night afterwards, as you can imagine.

I didn't include weddings on that list, b/c that **** is planned. And anyone who schedules a wedding on an important UK game or NCAA Tournament game date is the [devil].
My cousin. Both him and his wife went to UK too..... It was back in the early Tubby days and a bunch of us sat in a coat room at the reception and watched UK wax Georgia Tech on a 13 inch.

If any of you old-timers need a good laugh- i suggest going back through your old GYERO related emails from a decade ago. Spent some time yesterday searching for something and came upon a handful of old email chains. My lord.

I don't get people that act like I'm out of line for going out of my way to watch UK. Lucky that my Dad, Uncle and Stepdad laid the ground work, but my stepdad kind of gave way several times once I was in college and now it's up to me to remind people "Hey UK plays that Saturday".

I get very annoyed at any comment after that except for well we'll have a TV if you need it. I mean stupid **** like "what time" "well too bad" "is that really more important" or "ever heard of DVR" quickly leads to a krazy comment that gets me in the doghouse with my UK game though!

[laughing]

I'm just now starting to understand the relationship balance with this thing. The lass doesn't like CBB (at least every night and all/err on the weekends) and has started to be vocal about it. She respects my UK fandom and all, but doesn't get why I need to watch every other teams' games, too. Told her, "Look, Toots, this is just how it's going to be for the next month and a half. Deal."

Of course, I missed Xavier/Villanova because of her.

Worse I saw was actually a UL game/wedding. Was that 05 when they went to the Final Four after 20 years? Anyway the groom and all other groomsmen were die hard UL fans. Wedding was right in the middle of game. Groomsmen were listening to pocket radios up until the nuptials, FIL brought a TV to the reception. Literally everyone was crowded around it the entire night, last 5 minutes of the game were during the cake, toasts. I was the only one enjoying it. She was not happy, I told her as soon as the date came out it was the Final Four and sure enough UL made it and got the early game[laughing]. Life long friend and had UK made it would have been an awkward deal.

-Serial season 2 sucks. Stopped listening after like 3 episodes. I mean it's a pretty high profile story, just let the news cover it. They went away from what made season 1 so good, was that it was an intriguing case that nobody had ever heard of.

-Watched the game live on Tuesday. Jesus, Slice :scream:. Don't just willingly put that info out there.

Here are the times when it's ok to miss a game...

1. Family/personal emergency.

2. Important business meeting/event.

3. At a kid's practice/game/school event.

4. o_O

NOTE - "Going to see Deadpool" is not on this list.
Unless you are the coach can we cross practice off this list? Ill be damned if I watch some idiot wrongly instruct my kid rather than watch the beauty that TU demonstrates every time he steps in between the lines.

It would have been glorious if it was the UofL/UK game with Sparks winning it at the line. That would have made a hell of a toast and cake cutting if Sparks was going to the line during it.

God bless the "live TV on cellies" phenomenon- not only because you can watch games at weddings now, but MORE IMPORTANTLY, because it deters other women from scheduling their weddings during college football and basketball season. All it took was two weddings with my friends this Fall for ol' girl to step away from her dreams of an October wedding. :raised_hands:

Hopefully it never happens again, but add an NIT tilt to '73's list of valid excuses.

In fact, think having my fingernails individually removed with a pair of pliers beats watching our beloved cats eventually beaten in a meaningless postseason tournament.

Cool is at his desk punishing his keyboard about to fire off something like this

Now superfans are telling Slice how to watch the Cats? Sometimes I work out at the gym during UK games. The New Year's resolution crew ruin every Jan/Feb at Gold's. Does that make me less of a fan? Looking forward to a day of GYERO of each superfan telling us what lengths he went to watch a UK game.

Get Real!

Thursday Takes:

- Wonder how UK would handle that Xavier 1-3-1. You don't see that very often past 8th grade.

- Have a love-hate relationship with Xavier. Growing up catholic in the area, I always liked to see the Muskies do well. Had friends who went to school there so have spent many a night partying on Dana and in the dorms. My old roomie walked-on for them. Have dated quite a few alumni through the years. So, I like seeing them do well...to a point, but I want to keep them in their place, if you will. Also many Xavier dudes are those dull midwestern schmucks (from places like Cleveland, Milwaukee, Pittsburgh, etc) who I've never really gotten along with for some reason.

- Murray at 19.4- can we get him to 20ppg by April?

- @B Rax how did the little dude's first UK game experience end up? My cousin just took his four year old last week. Gotta admit- those are the kinds of things that make you jealous of parents. Still remember my first game at Rupp with my old man and Uncle Davey (who passed away last summer). Have the pennant Dad got me that night hanging on my wall.

- If I'm Roy Williams, I roll this lineup out there quite a bit in March: Berry, Paige, Pinson, Jackson and Johnson. Go small. Take advantage of Jackson guarded by bigger guys. It's 2016.

- Funny how it seems like the regular season is over but we still have two WARS in Nashville and in Gainesville left.

- I know you're not supposed to give credit to people for doing what they're supposed to do (see: Rock, Chris), but props to Drae Bowles for standing up for that girls and dealing with the wrath and fists of his entire team. That takes some guts. There aren't many guys who would do that.

- Weekend lineup: Hopefully chill tomorrow night. Saturday, watch the game and then an engagement party for the lass's friend at OTR's latest converted church The Transept or Vestry at the Transept. I don't know.

-KGar, you don't get ragged on b/c you're doing something people are jealous of, you get ragged on because you're thin skinned and arrogant since you started blogging. TS, coming from a buddy. Lighten up hoss. You're still KGar to us, not Keith Garrett UK Sports Media

In all seriousness I'd love for you to unpack this cause I'm oblivious... Not sure how I'm thin skinned for defending my takes. It's actually what Gyero was/is built on, have a take and double/triple down, I did that the 8 years here prior to outside writing and was never called "thin skinned"

Also, what are some instances of arrogance? I was arrogant on here (just like EVERY SINGLE multi-year poster on here, TS) before writing.

The only people I initiate/go at these days are non UK fans being idiots (captain suntan, Kent sterling, any UL media guy etc) and anyone that comes at me first.

Hell, I even gave BBDK the credit for an idea on one of my articles because he brought it up on here first. I didn't have to do that, I've admitted being wrong multiple times, even admitted on here my first few pieces were too long and winded, etc.

I don't know, it's only a handful, but since I ventured out there has been vitriol at anything I put out, which I have become perfectly fine with at this point, even entertained.

Having said that, I'm gonna always come back at people that initiate, just like 99.9% of you guys, sure as hell doesn't mean I'm thin skinned, unless you wanna concede virtually all of GYERO is the same.
