Totally get that about wanting old Nashville back. There was a LOT of that type talk in KW the last few years before I left and I really get it more and more.

Sure for the average tourist it’s probably a way better (see bland and controlled) to visit KW (see others to make money). But if seeing ol Donald with no shoes on taking a leak on the side of a building at 9:48a while you’re heading to Blue Heaven for lobster omelets ruins your experience well you don’t actually want to see KW, you want to head over to Disney.

Covid sped all this up big time. The entire NE bought up every house and kicked out the locals to make more money on vacation rentals during that time. Also coincides obviously, with rent skyrocketing to ridiculous amounts.

I’ve said it before, but if you and two buddies want to move down for a few years, live in a 3/1 right now you 3 are going to need F/L/S totaling $15-20K cash to step in the front door.

Thanks Covid and Nor’easters.

Went to Broadway about 6 weeks ago on a random Friday at noon. Hadn't been down there since the MCB in 2006. Reminded me of walking thru Times Square in NYC.

On one hand, I had to give kudos to the city because of the fact that they are killing it as a tourist destination. However, if I were a resident of that city, I'd avoid that area like the plague.

I don't mean to humblebrag here (or maybe I do), but last night I was jogging down by the water in Seattle. There's this "beach" part and when I got there, I noticed this 20-something-bum-weirdo harassing people in broken English. At first it was two young women and then a family pushing a baby carriage. Dude would get up in their faces, they'd turn around, he'd jump up in their face again, wouldn't move... just complete weirdo stuff.

I stopped jogging and just kind of followed him for a second. The bum saw another pretty young woman sitting alone on the beach 3 ft from the water, so he got in her face, then he reached over and picked up this piece of driftwood and just stared at her holding it. You could tell she was terrified.

Since none of these Seattle IPA-drinking-hipster cucks were going to do anything about it, your boy Wayne Dougan sprang into action, sprinted over, told him to drop the wood and get the f outta there. He stared me down for a minute, then threw thew wood in the water, mumbled some gibberish and left.

But here's the reason why I mention this. The gal I helped just sort of looked at me for a second with almost a look of disdain and then walked off. I was like, "hey, how about a thank you or at least a smile, you know, for the effort?" But nothing. It was like a superhero movie when the hero saves the city and the media still turns on him.

Been to KW twice and it sucks.
KW can be awesome depending on what you want but that should include drinking and fishing/sandbar/sunset cruise/etc because there really isn’t **** else to do.

They’re slowly but surely running off the Fantasy Fest/outlaw/old sea dog types and trying to “gentrify” the island.

But I TOTALLY get it if someone doesn’t like it. I was over it and will visit but never live there again.

That's called the Seattle freeze, Wayne. Folks there are introverts to the point of being rude.

Residents of Nashville go to Broadway about as much as you guys. It's a very fun town to live in, and that area is the worst part. Assembly Food Hall is dope tho.

Chivalry is obviously dead. I’m sure she would have been much more impressed if you had pulled a 20 out of your pocket and handed it to him instead of, you know, doing the manly thing and running him off.

🏆 If Cats beat Florida, Tennessee & Louisville… I don’t care about the rest actually…. Assuming we start 4-0 obvs.

🪡 Uniforms are about details. There are still annoying vestiges of the stupidass checkerboard on the collar. And the KansasState Cat logo on the shoulder pisses me off as well. Map of Ky would do nicely there… or just the number. Less is more. Nike sucks. I blame Mitch.

😴 Jamarion Wilcox is my sleeper. He will be like a tiny Dave Meggett ball peen hammer if you remember him.

💨 30 years ago, I was trying to find my belt getting ready for work (in Lville Kaufman Strauss bldg). Later to find out, my fiancé secretly packed a bag for me as my boys abducted me out of the office for my bachelor party in Chicago. This was an epic trip as 8 dudes trickled in from across the map. I didn’t sleep for 3 days.

🦪 planning a surprise trip with wife back to Charleston in Nov. That place resonates. Fig is prolly in my top 5 restaurants.

🥎. My whiffleball shoulder injury is real. Going to doctor. Old.

Members of this thread can vouch for me being a man of action who is ready to throw down and fight injustice even when the odds are stacked against me. Like the time I easily won a fight at a Delt date party while the rest of the Delts stood around watching me pound one of their brothers. @PTI (pti) - you were there.

Okie. You certainly were there that evening, 120%, which was also once of the 2-3 times tops I entered that awful place. Never understood the appeal.

Why does the fishtank have to get ran down because Wayne was a ***** 20+ years ago.

It was a nice, small dive bar that didn’t resemble the mess of overcrowded Varsity Blue or Two Keys.

A jukebox and drinks which are a classic for those of us not craving a scene.

Ok. I only lived on campus from Jan 1999 to May 2003.

Wasn’t like there is some secret places to go and even as a kid in my 20’s I wasn’t a huge fan of over packed bars.

Plus I was raised in a dive bar so I felt right at home in those type of places.

Hey, some people don’t want there to be attractive women at the bars they go to. I get it.

Buddy by your own admission standing up for women does you no good so I have my doubts if it matters for you to be in a bar shoving shots down their throats will help much.

The built in Euclid area clientele certainly had no good looking girls that ever went to that bar.

Good call!

I think that girl I saved must have been a lesbian.

- Bit the bullet and took my daughter to see Messi last night. $690 for two uppers with fees. Ugh.

- Kid was totally excited as hell to go, did her homework on the drive up.

- But it was totally worth it. Being soccer people and getting to see the GOAT play the game was like watching Babe Ruth, or Ali, or Gretzky. Even at 36, his quality is just second to none. Both his assists on goals were easier to make than to miss because he put them on a silver platter. Amazing to see a guy do positive stuff almost every time he touched the ball. We got our money's worth as the game went to penalty kicks before Miami pulled if off.

- Now getting out of that place was a friggin dumpster fire. Took us 30 minutes to get across the bridge.

- Spending too much time on my pick-em football league to take a good look at the Cats schedule. I do know we usually win one we aren't expected to, and we lose one or two we probably shouldn't have. With that said, and without a lot of analyzing, 9-3 looks possible.

Lyghnah’s laughs in the Fishtank’s face. An O’Round at the pub and Catawampus or Born Cross-Eyed next door at the Emporium was a little slice of heaven for AW back in the day.

Still miss Lynaughs. Think about an O'Round often.

That place almost cost me my hearing, too, when I saw Hank Williams' grandson there, and he did a second set called "Hellbilly Metal." I was scared out of my mind the next three days thinking I'd gone mostly deaf.

-Mostly we enjoyed not having fratty douches with tucked in polos being there… 😘

Lynaghs was fine too and we usually hopped back and forth but more Fishtank for sure. Pazzos & Mellow gals rolling in after work was always nice too.

Sent a dick pic to bartender Kate at Lynaghs a few years ago by accident when it was supposed to be for another Kate. She was really mad and I was like 🤷‍♂️ you’re welcome…

-Just got a massage for the first time in a year by a guy from the Balkans named Goran. First time for a dude masseuse as well, only weird part was feeling his forearm hair, besides that much needed.

I did give him a VERY EARLY obligatory Imminent Boner Warning though per GYERO tradition.

-Does anyone else’s Catpaw crash/reload constantly now? Is it that stupid video?

Born Cross-Eyed played a party at my fraternity house the night of the '92 UK-Duke game.

They plugged one of our radios playing Cawood's call of the game thru their sound system and sat and watched the second half and OT of the game with us.

Even those stoned hippies were depressed at the end.

Fishtank was after my time but when "Sam" owned it it was perfect lil 5 min walk home. Watched 98 Champ there. Dude went and bought a big screen just for our crew. Forgot the damn name of it then, but drinking age wasnt a concern there.
