Parents used to get those things for every road trip like it was some sort of exclusive VIP club or something. Even remember the agents circling the road work, speed traps, etc. An incredible personal touch.
Those people were wizards. Walk in “I’m going to ******* State for a college visit” and ol’ Marge would use a highlighter and an assortment of cards, put it in a spiral pad and off you’d go.

Julia Roberts deserved her Oscar. Sandra Bullock did not.
The fact you know this is sad.

The fact anyone deals with bussing is sad.

Oher should’ve been better at you know FBall if he wants a cut. He didn’t complain 25 years ago being all over tv, sad.

The fact people give a **** is sad.

Make your life. Ain’t **** free. Deal with it.

The entire story comes down to one thing and it's not the conservatorship. From ESPN.com.

According to the legal filing, the movie paid the Tuohys and their two birth children each $225,000, plus 2.5% of the film's "defined net proceeds." The movie became a critically acclaimed blockbuster, reportedly grossing more than $300 million at the box office, and tens of millions of dollars more in home video sales. The film received an Oscar nomination for Best Picture, and Sandra Bullock won a Best Actress trophy for her portrayal of Leigh Anne Tuohy. While the deal allowed the Tuohys to profit from the film, the petition alleges, a separate 2007 contract purportedly signed by Oher appears to "give away" to 20th Century Fox studios the life rights to his story "without any payment whatsoever." The filing says Oher has no recollection of signing that contract, and even if he did, no one explained its implications to him.

The deal lists all four Tuohy family members as having the same representative at Creative Artists Agency, the petition says. But Oher's agent, who would receive movie contract and payment notices, is listed as Debra Branan, a close family friend of the Tuohys and the same lawyer who filed the 2004 conservatorship petition, the petition alleges. Branan did not return a call to her law office on Monday.

So Oher apparently did sign away his ability to profit from the movie (not sure why he would have done this). His agent was Branan who knew the Tuohy's, but I don't see how this impacts them at all. It seems the real villian here would be either 20th Century Fox or Branan. Or Oher is just a moron.

If nothing else you are consistent! My goodness if you can’t read between the lines here.

Another part of the same article said he agreed to the conservatorship because from his understanding it was leading to them adopting him and him becoming their family.

That section you quoted there says “the family was to be paid 225K and a portion of the 2.5% royalties”.

Now you have a situation they knew he wasn’t adopted into their family, and they were signing to be paid as family which cut him out. Then their friend convinced him signing away any financial gain for absolutely nothing.

You’ve defended this and blamed what was then an 18 year old kid.

At most some point the adults around are supposed to be trusted and these ******** had nothing in mind but using this kid for financial gain for his story!

Like I said, scum!

And if you feel bad for him, think of the millions of people that never got his shot that are poor. You care about them, go feed them.

That tool wasn't even really AI - all marketing.
- I’ve run into a few AI-touting construction tech services (WIP tracking from video walks, etc.) that are clearly just running offshore shops with cheap workers doing the heavy labor. “And we’ve got a small staff in Turkey for QC.” - Mechanical Turks in 2023. Can’t make it up.

- Just got back from our annual Canadian road trip. Only paper straws, no paper towels in bathrooms, no plastic bags at stores. Continental breakfasts with popsicle stick spatulas as spoons and balsa wood serrated knifes. Luckily, they’re still sticking with plastic forks though - haven’t cracked the code on ruining forks up there as of yet.

- Their housing prices and mortgage situations up there really feed into the House Hunters budget memes. Also, almost everyone’s mortgages rate resets every 5 years to the prevailing rate - so they’re all facing a 20-40% if they had signed up for what they term a “fixed rate” (for a five year period.) Thank goodness for our rock-solid mortgage banking systems here in the states, eh?

- Finally, I worked the expression, “Out for a Rip,” into a conversation organically. So I consider the trip a success.

The fact that you provide over 100 paragraphs here a day is sad, while insisting you have the best life out of all of us. Eat my ****, ***** boy!

Their solution, after hiring a Boston MIT fake AI scam, was to come crawling back to good ol trustworthy Miller transportation. Love it. Ol Man Miller drove our route in grade school. They've kept the entire catholic school system running like charm for 50 years.

Btw, you kid about the trip tiks but apparently the drivers were essentially given hand written directions the first day. Lol.

My children have hand, foot, and mouth disease and the weekly carousel of sickness from back to school hasn’t even started. Buckle up GYERO, lots of illnesses from the Mehico household coming this fall and you’ll definitely be kept in the loop!

And yes, it’s as disgusting a disease as it sounds
MCF got it after both his kids had it. Apparently rare in adults but a real sonofabitch when it happens.

#2 got HFM when he was 8.5 months old and we had to skip Vegas, which was the first trip since December 2019 (it had been that long due to covid and having another kid). Didn’t want to leave him for the first time when he had his first real illness. He was pitiful the first night with fever and the blisters forming. He was a lot better off after a day or two, even though then blisters look terrible. Thoughts and prayers @Ron Mehico.

Having kids is a real *****. People don’t talk about that enough.

You know how I was bragging on my 2yo for shitting on the potty like a big boy?? WELL GUESS F*CKING WHAT. That little rascal took a **** in his basketball shorts, it rolled down his leg and SOMEHOW magically landed on my good UK bar cap. I had to throw it away!! That’s what I get for bragging on him. I’ll never be doing THAT again

I apologize for saying all that. It’s just a tough spot to be in and this is one of the places I come to have some woosaw.

I’d never hurt a soul. When you say that to me behind a keyboard it’s frustrating.

Thought I would check back in..still see lots of chatter about JCPS..even my my buddy hank macho man is complaining about them😉. Sorry I haven’t posted about something else between now and my last public school post ( I think that’s a violation or something). Sounds like JCPS kicked the can down the road again..sounds like covid all over again. I’ve been trying to tell you all the direction public schools are headed. Got an email for my kids elementary school for choice to opt out of “be well” class this year. This is the one where the teacher told my third grader it’s ok for boys to wear girls skirts. Go ahead and call me crazy but this is where they will fit in the LGBTQ/transgender stuff/general identity stuff.. A school board member told me recently “don’t worry about that stuff, schools have to tell you if they are doing it so we are reviewing our stuff to see what we need to do”. I think that’s why we got the opt out email from Fayette County schools. Yeah we opted out. Parents please be more involved and be aware of our public schools.
