the tents with fireworks were likely a total loss. Fireworks scattered everywhere on the ground and soaking wet, some people are going to lose a few hundred thousand because of that.

This is the best news in a long time. I'm in Georgetown, so no difference to me, but people that light off fireworks in the suburbs are the trashiest people. Home fireworks are trashy in general. When that industry takes a hit, I'll always celebrate that.

Man, what a fortunate & extremely important late pickup. Our roster pretty dope, actually. Love the fact he's a stretch big most of all.

It’s not bad. Mitchell is a good defender too.

Obviously it all depends on the freshmen and Oyenso but I like makeup and roster seems to make sense on both sides.

Plus, there’s no F’ing Hagans/Askew/Wheeler weighing us down.

You all can get all hot and bothered by whoever is on the roster but it doesn’t change the fact that the same old tired act will be screaming from the sidelines. Just wait until he has Onyenso, Mitchell and Bradshaw all on the floor together because you know it’s going to happen. I say we all just cheer for the Reds and act like basketball doesn’t exist until after October.

-Saw good ol ginger Eric from the Real Workd at Lowe’s a minute ago. Partied with him quite a bit in college. Did a double take and had to say Eric?

He was like yeah what’s up man, is it Mark? Yeaaaaaah buddddddy (say it in the Ronnie Coleman voice, thanks). Dude was down probably 80-100 LBs from college and I let him know. Random, but always fun to see people and recognize each other from 20 years ago.

-At Lowe’s, got all my tile picked out and all the tools and whatnot ready for pick up tomorrow, going to be a long sweaty week but these bathrooms are about to look fantastic. Probably hit the kitchen floor next.

Not much more rewarding to me, besides weight lifting, than knocking out renos/construction on my own.

Mtchell shot 37% from 3 and Bradshaw is allegedly a stretch 4. That's not really the same as a Livingston, Ware, Oscar lineup.

We will see. Mitchell will be stuck in the post and Bradshaw will be lucky to still be around come January. Of course I’m just really jaded when it comes to Cal so take that for what it’s worth. Which ain’t a lot.

In a weird kind of way, it came together well. Maybe by accident, in a way, but it could be a better roster than if they had landed a couple other guys a month ago.

Cal usually does this anyway, but moving forward, I'd always have 2 scholarships on hold up until June or July.

* Some random thoughts on how to get the most out of this Reds team.....

- put some of the odd men out on the trading block (Stephenson, Barrero, Senzel) to get anything at all in return
- rework the starting rotation. use openers, only give starters 1-2 turns thru the order.
- do NOT mortgage the future. maybe add a bullpen arm or two.
- be patient. 2024 is the year we go to the World Series. 2023 is just lagniappe, as they say down here in nawlins.

Discussing this with Gog & Co. this weekend... Their unexpected early arrival as contenders (thanks in large part to the NL Meh-ntral) has put ownership in a tricky spot. A lot of fans are gonna get mad if they don't add a significant piece to contend after 10 years through the wilderness (I don't count 2020) but you've got to look at it in terms of "Can we actually win in the playoffs, not just get there?" I'm with you at this point: just try to add a bullpen arm or two, but I'm not giving up any actual prospect like CES short of some sweet deal where I get Bieber plus extra year of control.

NYC coal/brick oven shutdown mandate is absurd. The restaurant owners will more than likely be fined for continued operation… which exposes the real motivation… it’s a money grab. Meter maids still writing up parking tickets as they have to hurdle over half-dead homeless people to reach the windshield. This ******** shuts down Arturo’s - I’m out. The line in the sand.

Just left a downtown meeting on Whitehall St. The place is still a ghost town. Infinite floors of empty buildings and the city is concerned with clamping down on pizza?!??

I always thought buzzed driving in New Orleans was a local sport… guess I was wrong. My buddy lied to me.

Dr Hotez is the tipping point. Someone is gonna sue that dude.

Lavender martinis were a hit with wife and friends. Highly recommend.

So our new adorable Hoosier honk Hart has hops? Noice!

And that's exactly the kind of deal I want to see Cleveland make...Bieber for a power bat. The Guardians have Josh Bell at the DH spot for 2023, but he's not sticking around. Let CES and Naylor divvy up 1B/DH responsibilities, and trade Bieber while he still has value.

Completely incorrect. First of all, the Reds will NEVER be in a spot to think they can win/go deep in the playoffs with Bell. "Getting there" is there ceiling at this point, so you have to try and build on that. There is no guarantee the "prospects" will pan out to be everyday players. They have some decent talent now that will bring a quality SP. You move them now or resign to mediocrity again because they ALL will not have everyday potential.

Second, completing a lineup w/ Newman, Steer, Senzel, Benson, and 3 below avg catchers is asinine.

One would think some of you guys never watched baseball at all.

Due to my high degree of success romantically, socially and professionally, I often get requests for advice and life tips. Here are some things I do that I encourage you to also begin doing in your own lives. No thanks needed - this is just my way of giving back. Might want to screenshot this:

- To signal my intelligence and education, I’ll often work foreign- mostly Latin - phrasing into my conversations, stuff like “quid pro quo”, “mea culpa” and “carte blanche” in place of more proletarian English phrasing. I also greet and say goodbye to people with “Ciao.”

- Instead of calling someone “close to you” or a “dear friend” refer to your biggest allies as your “ride or die.” Ex. “Oh Bill? Yeah I’ve known him for years. He’s my ride or die.”

- When first dating a young lady, resist the urge to commit. When brought up, simply say, “I don’t like to put labels on things.” Do this for at least a year.

- When interviewing a prospective employee, ALWAYS describe your culture in this manner, “We work hard on this team” - pause three beats - “but we also play hard.” I’ve never had an offer rejected when using this.

- When eating at a Mexican restaurant, whether fluent or not, make sure to use as many spanish words as possible when interacting with your waiter. For instance, I always introduce myself, “Hola, Miguel. Me llamo WCC. Muy bien.” Ir after chips and salsa are brought to the table, “Gracias, Senor. Muy bien.”

- If you really like something- a sports team or player, a musician, whatever- never say you’re a “fan” of them. No, say you “stan” them. Ex. “Oh I stan the Celtics.” You can also say, “I ride for the Celtics.”

- Never say “I’m busy” at work. Go with “I don’t have the bandwidth for this.” I owe my last two promotions to this way of putting things.

- If you have been to an East Coast beach for a summer vacation, make sure to let others know by placing a bumper sticker of that locale on your SUV. For instance, my family has traveled to the Outerbanks in North Carolina and Hilton Head the past few years, so my “whip” (cool way to refer to your car) has an OBX sticker and a South Carolina palmetto tree sticker.

- If you’re successful at ANYTHING, always use the verb “crush” to describe that success. “I crushed that sales call.”

- Constantly brag on the school system in which your house resides. This signals high class.

- At both work and in social settings, when in charge of ordering pizza for a group, no matter if only 10% of the party is vegetarian, make sure to severely overorder cheese and only-veggie pizza.

- Change your work email signature to say “Cheers.”

- This one is probably most important, put up a cheap yardsign prominently in front of your house that demonstrates how welcoming you are to neighbors of different faiths, ethnicities, lifestyles and races than yourself.
Been a long time since I straight up laughed out loud at a GYERO post. Strong work.

I get what SAE is saying re: Huggins, but how the f do you get to a spot where you have one of the highest paid employees of the state requiring a personal driver or there’s a good chance he’ll drive drunk? It’s not like he was winning you titles either.

Spencer Steer sucks:

Amongst National League rookies, he’s top 5 in…

- average
- on base %
- slugging %
- ops
- runs
- home runs
- rbi
- hits
- doubles

And you can’t win with him in the lineup, except he’s got a higher OPS than 15 of the 18 starters in last years World Series — Bryce Harper ($27 million), Jose Altuve ($29 million), and Yordan Alvarez ($27 million).

This, out of a dude who makes the league minimum and was a toss in when we traded away a 5th starter 2 years ago who just underwent Tommy John surgery. He doesn’t even necessarily project as a starter long term because of all the other talent in the organization.

You try so hard, UKO, but my god you are a psycho F’ing idiot.

Will Benson is a 4th/5th outfielder and Kevin Newman is on his way out, by the way.

Just a troll. Nothing more. It’s all schtick. Jussie Smollett.

Yea. The current leaders of the NL central and the hottest team in baseball is all a fluke, because no one knows baseball except for you?

We are being punked.

There are many reasons beyond DUIs to get a highly paid coach a personal driver -- safely able to make phone calls during all drives, use that time to review film or do other higher value work, avoid tickets, etc that could be an issue with high-octane overachievers, avoid being a litigation magnet for people miraculously stopping abruptly in front of his car, et cetera etc.

Just because they’re great prospects doesn’t mean they’ll pan out in the Bigs, and when they do play well in the Majors, it doesn’t count just because.

Huggins is such a piece of ****, it’s not even worth wasting breath over.

When UC ran him out, they absolutely had good cause. And if you’re too much of a degenerate for goddamned UC….well, that tells you all you need to know about WVU. And KSU, for that matter.

Sure, sure, “he’s a down to earth laid back type, a man’s man, you’d think he was from the west side!!!!” It’s amazing how Cincy people continue to defend him. He could get elected mayor here - no joke. But then again, every west sider I’ve ever known has been a dirty drunk too.

Here’s the lesson: UC basketball is a cancerous program and anything that touches it is a shitbag.

Now I don’t mind their football program. Certainly not a “fan” in the least, but I respect their program and will flip them on on Friday night if I have nothing else going on. But their bball???? >>>>>> toxic

Damn… that felt like it has pent up for a while.
If you grew up or lived around here in the 90s you’d understand. Holy **** UC fans were insufferable. OFF OF ONE FINAL FOUR WHERE THE BRACKET OPENED UP FOR THEM. It almost ended our family Christmas get togethers and I’m not exaggerating.

Now they’re kinda sad and I’d like to see them get a little better. But I’d say there are more local fans who recognize “you know what, Pete Rose is kinda a dick and maybe got what he deserved” than those who would say about Huggins- which is insane.
