I’m gonna go ahead and get in front with “I don’t want to hear **** about ‘next year’s class’ ********”. We’ve fallen for this before.
I just can't get past that even the worst record in the modern history of the program and the worst NCAAt loss in program history has done nothing to force a change in his playing style. I think most people have now come the conclusion that he isn't changing and it is fully setting in now.
True but he also is not nearly the savage StD is. Drew is generally really, really nice.

I won't attempt to make the direct analogy to Alabama Football, but I feel confident in saying something along these lines in SEC Football would get a HC an SEC Network studio gig pretty GD fast.
Just agree to pay the loser his money at the end of the year and let's move on. It's not due up front - and UK hasn't had to pay anyone anything serious to leave in some time.

Cal is an old school coach who refuses to acknowledge offense, and the only thing his team ever needs is more toughness and rebounding.
100 Hadn't really looked at it through that lens. He would've been gone 3 years ago at a big time football program.
I'm as mad at Cal as anyone and ready for change - but this is ridiculous.
Cal gave us one of the most fun runs of my lifetime, and brought us back to the Top. We certainly aren't there anymore, and doesn't look like we ever will be again with him, but gimme a break.

I actually think we aren't far off from being a good team. The solutions are simple and everyone is screaming them at Cal. On message boards, on call in shows, from the crowd, around town, basketball analysts on Twitter, announcers, half time shows, sportswriters, all of them. That's what's frustrating about all of this. If we were genuinely terrible without hope of being good, no one would give a crap.
I don’t think Cal gives a damn about putting the best line ups out there to win games, it’s certainly not his top priority. I believe in his mind he is playing guys and putting them in positions to prepare them for the NBA, that’s his number one priority. He tried it with Collins earlier until he realized Collins really is unplayable, but he’s gonna ride Toppin and Wheeler, despite their mistakes. There’s no way Cal doesn’t understand spacing and how to free this offense up to get easier looks.
I 100% believe he doesn’t understand it and I have 10+ years of evidence to support it.
Kansas started a PG who couldn’t shoot last year AND a traditional 5.

-That World Cup final was unbelievable. I'm not interested in soccer, so I don't know about best game ever, but it's gotta be way up there. Just haymaker after haymaker. Whole event was awesome. Also, Messi's wife. Good lord.
-Nice Saturday with the boys drinking a bunch of bourbon and eating agreeable meals. Hopefully a nice little tradition.
-XMas on a Sunday is worst case. Right back in the fire after running all over the place is brutal. Destroys a weekend and offers no recovery time to look forward to. Give me Wed-Fri for optimal scheduling.
-Would love to know the exact correspondence around the Goodwin ****. What a mess.
-Saw a tip on how to maximize the morning coffee effect to hold the whole day. Drink a large glass of water before the coffee and wait 1 hour after waking up to start drinking your coffee. Seems to be working well.

Any time a coach starts talking about toughness, and I've heard Cal do this multiple times this year, it's obvious he doesn't have an answer or is unwilling to face the facts.
The people shitting on CJ Frederick need to understand that he was a serviceable defender and shooter before he came here in a P5 conference. Reeves is a bit of a gun and played at a smaller place, sure, but he is still more reliable than, say, playing 2 out of Toppin, Ware and Oscar.
I'm with Anth on the Wheeler train. Guy plays hard but is also good for three one handed entry passes that result in TO's per game, can't stay in front of hardly anyone anymore (which is a main cause of our defensive struggles) and has an 8 foot range. He can spell Wallace for 12-15 MPG. Sixth man off the bench. Calf roller guy. Anything but be in the top 3 for usage and minutes. It makes 0 sense.

If Cal wins, nothing matters. But the fact that he has alienated all these folks is in part why they aren’t winning. He never had a relationship with Mitch, but he did have DEWAYNE to run interference and now he doesn’t
The reality is that he has few Allies now and that’s not the way to do it
The one I speak of gave Stoops 1/4 what he gave Cal. It’s not small numbers.
I hope he tells Cal to go get pumped. We can win titles with the things he’s been given. Would be nice to do it without the narcissistic ******* on board.

I have no problem with Wheeler playing 18-25 minutes per game. The rare times our shooters get good looks are mainly because of him. He really doesn't turn the ball over that much (usually), either. 2.3 per game. (Wallace is 2.0, with half as many assists). Wheeler does throw 300 passes per game that are tipped and almost turnovers.
Our worst game (in Spokane) was when he played the least.
But, he can't be the focal point of the offense and he can't play 30+ minutes.
Fredrick has pretty much been unplayable at both ends of the floor, but we need him to get his confidence back and start stroking to get anywhere this year. (non BBdK)
Toppin needs to be <15 minutes per game, and maybe less if Livingston keeps improving.
For God's sake, swallow your pride and work on a zone so we don't get torched with Reeves and CJ in there at the same time.
At this point, I'm starting Wheeler, Wallace, Reeves, Livingston & Oscar.

The biggest thing Cal needs to do, is admit there is a problem. What he is doing obviously isn't working and hasn't consistently for a couple/5 years now. I mean, last January was beautiful, but doesn't mean **** in the long term.
He can't make players hit open shots, but he can surely do a helluva lot better job getting them more of them. And stop letting the other team dictate the tempo.
Cal isn't having any trouble getting boosters and fans to chip in on NIL deals. The end of the bench guys are even well taken care of.
I think next year is his last in Lexington, win or lose. And we are just going to have to live with the results the next 2 seasons.
In real life, (Sorry Vern) I'm about 50/50 on us even making the tourney at this point. I think we have all the pieces to win The Whole Damn Thing, but have zero confidence this staff will figure it out in time.
Cal doesn't want to break hearts, but he is breaking mine.
