Just watched The Voice with my folks instead and it was more entertaining, partly because my mom almost gets as loud and excited for it as she does a UK game. Had her phone out voting, ready to “save” an artist she likes. Something else man.
-Since I had the flu 3-4 weeks ago, which was miserable, I’ve been having a tough time really getting after it at the gym. Eating a bunch of fast food which I never do, not meal prepping, etc. I looked at myself shirtless the other morning and was embarrassed, gained fat, lost muscle, etc, started killing it Monday and today, much better living like that.

So our game Saturday overlaps with England’s World Cup match. Should be a great crowd!
- Yes, there were injury issues, suspensions etc, but the Scang scheme just seemed "off" from day 1. I do think Levis was legitimately banged up all season. I can't fathom they would just abandon the QB run game which was easy yards most of last season- unless it really wasnt an option.
- Did not watch any of the UK game. Turned off Gonzaga at the half and I guess I'll tune back in over the next few weeks but they are making it really easy to just pretend like they dont exist.
- The US not giving up a goal in open play for the entire group stage is really impressive- considering they aren't world-class at the back. Assume Pulisic is probably hurt more than we know- that just didnt look right.
- For a long time the knock on US soccer has been that our better athletes arent playing soccer... that aint it with this group. Looking at their speed, technical ability and youth- they have better athletes than most other countries. Still lacking an outright scorer- but I think they can hang with all but a couple of teams.
- I've had some ear/throat funk for like 6 weeks. Can't shake it after 2 steroid shots and an antibiotic. Wasnt covid, wasnt flu, wasnt step... doc says "just something going around" which is comforting.
- Had pretty hellish weather blow through from about 9-4 am last night. Lucky to escape with just some downed limbs and christmas decorations scattered throughout the yard.

The sickness this Fall has been an absolute *****. I thought maybe it was because it's my first year with kids in school but it's been everyone. My wife was sick when we went on vacation for fall break the first week of October and someone in our house has been sick every day since then. RSV, Flu, stomach flu, sinus infections, ear infections, just absolute misery.
The birthplace of Morakinyo "Big Black Member" Williams should be fertile ground, imo.

Athleticism matters in soccer, but not nearly as much as technical ability imo. We’ve come a long way in that department - largely because our guys are starting to get the training at academies and overseas that has been lacking for years.
I really wish I could keep making fun of all the goofballs who are spending thousands of dollars to go watch this bum *** team play on a different continent, but damn. Of the friends I've got who are going, I'm not sure any of them really even give a s***. More like a European vacay with a quick little side trip to see a ballgame.
