College hoops just can't get out of its own way. Considering expanding the tournament is a colossally bad idea. Then they open the season with about as uninspiring a slate of matchups that you could conjure up. Every other sport begins its season with must-see games. The only game worth watching tonight is Memphis/Vandy, which is all you need to know about the strength of the lineup. If you're scared to put big matchups up against MNF, then don't start the season on a Monday, idiots.

-2 position groups ruining this season just shows how f*cking tight the difference in being decent and great. We get anything out of our OL and ST and we're probably sitting with 1 loss ready to play UGA for the East. Don't mind a tough game in Columbia, hell UGA barely got out of there unscathed and Mizzou had a ton of confidence after last week, but the way it almost went down is same **** we've seen all year. Missed FGs, long snapper issues, Levis sacked 1000 times. Dude is so banged up he's been reduced to standing still in the pocket. Hopefully that toe gets better over the next few weeks. If that's really his only issue.
-Goodfellow deciding to punt that ball is wild. I figured he'd kick it out of the end zone. Hell, he did it earlier this year. Feels good to be on the other side of that. Our long snapper is terrible and I wouldn't be surprised if he's the reason Ruffalo is f*cked.
-There's a house @ Turkeyfoot and Tates Creek that even old WCC would think has too many virtuous yard signs. Several are homemade. I need to snap a photo.
-What a Saturday to have an early away game. Perfect. Even some **** weather to make you completely fine with like 12 hours on the couch.

11/7 would have been too early back in the day, because that October 15th date was the hard set rule for when teams could start practicing together. But now that teams get so much time together in the offseason, even when they're not doing a foreign tour, they're already pretty well on their way.
The problem isn't the start date. The problem is that they open the season with a bunch of crap games instead of spreading out marquee matchups over Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday of this week, when their only real TV competition would be MAC football games.

I disagree. I kind of hate the trend toward having huge name matchups the first couple weeks of the season. It especially sucks for us since we are almost always putting together a new roster. Regardless I like to see the elite squads get at least a few weeks of games against Directional Butthole State et al to iron out the kinks before they square off.
When marquee teams play too early, I don't think you get the same sense of how good the two teams are relative to each other in a lot of cases that you would if they played even a month into the season.

Offense looked marginally better against a very solid Mizzou defense. Levis was really good for the most part, just not statistically gaudy. No QB ever will be as long as CMS is in charge.
Defense is damn good and the future there is so bright.

-Lexington was really cool this weekend. People from all over the world, especially England. You could literally feel and smell the money all over the place. Downtown was just POPPING, and just had an awesome vibe about it.
-Had a light meal & drinks at Lockbox, everything was fantastic. They really messed up in there w/ the bar though, it's almost like a temporary little setup...like 6 seats & just overall weird given the other 21C bars being a primary feature.
-Stagger Inn brought back memories. Hadn't been there since my last Redmon's trip, which I'd guess was 20 years ago at this point. Great little band playing classics.
-Gritty Road win that we could have very easily lost, and it felt like we were going to. I'll never complain about that. What a weird and disappointing season.

I got married Saturday and it could not have been a better day. Everything was perfect, 210 people got rowdy as hell and we made my mother in law cry roughly 457 times. Cats are bowl eligible. Bengals rolled. I will be on a beach in T-minus 5 hours.
