Tales from the School Bus:
First day on a new route. I finally got a permanent one rather that just subbing other routes when people call in sick.
Anyway, first day, afternoon run, taking middle schoolers home. The bus breaks down (threw a serpentine belt), and I have to wait 40 minutes for them to bring a replacement bus.
The middle schoolers are not pleased. LOL
One kid said he called his Mom and she was coming to get him. I said, "I can't release you to anyone. An administrator has to do it." "yeah, we'll see when she gets through with you." I said, "We'll see her drive home w/o you. It isn't happening."
Random Girl, "I HAVE TO GET OFF OF THIS BUS RIGHT NOW!!! I HAVE TO PEE!" I said, "Look at it this way; you're learning to face adversity at a young age. That will serve you well later in life." (She then told me she hated me, and that I was illegitimate.)
I got on the PA and tried to lead a sing-along. "Now, just the ladies!" But it didn't help.

Kanye West is the newest guest on the Lex Fridman podcast. There's no way I'd ever devote two and half hours to that but a 10 minute highlight might be interesting.
You want to know the saddest part of that bus story? It isn't the children and their behavior. They're kids, and they're stuck in a hot cramped bus, so they get a lot of slack as far as I'm concerned. These are kids from predominantly disadvantaged circumstances and so they don't always have the best coping skills.
The REAL f*ckups in this are the inept and overpaid administrators that left those kids waiting for answers/a solution for 40 minutes.
We weren't in f***ing Sadieville. We were FIVE GD minutes from their offices. Somebody should have been there in 10 minutes tops, to start locating/calling parents/explaining the situation, getting alternative ways home arranged (none of which I'm allowed to do) but for some reason, it took them 40 minutes to get off of their fat and stupid asses and do the obvious. Second stop is this fine looking, well dressed young man. He got on, shook the drivers hand and said, “Hello sir, nice to meet you. My name is Ross” to which the driver replied “Very nice to meet you,too” and he thought to himself what a nice kid he was.
Third stop and this real slacker kid gets on. Greasy hair, dirty clothes, smelled awful. The bus diver said “Hi, what is your name?” The kid just snarled “Lester Freed” and proceeded to the back of bus.
So on down the road the driver went, still concerned that he would never learn all of the kids names on his bus. Just about that time he looked in his mirror and saw Lester, who had removed his shoes and was picking at his feet, when he it hit him. He would be able to remember the kids names after all. He smiled to himself as he sang “I’ve got two fatty Patties, a special Ross, a Lester Freed picking his bunions on a Sesame St bus”.

Clown, you definitely have more patience than me. I’d walked the kids the 5 minutes to watch me cuss the lazy fat asses out then called the local news to report the uncalled for incident. Then I’d left the going to jail assault charge to the parents when they found out why the kids were left so long. Would have been a real life lesson for the kids, parents and school corporation. Of course I would have quit before letting them fire me after the cussing to keep from a murder conviction. Keeps you looking good for caring about the well being of the children over the evil, lazy, dumbass administrators.

-Was cruising to work in Georgetown this morning about 4:45 and there were about 8 unmarked black police SUVs surrounding and towing a semi out of the pilot gas station on Exit 129/cherry blossom.
I’m sure it’s totally normal and they were just lending a helpful hand. Didn’t bother to wait around though as it appeared it was going to take forever and I was late for the tanning bed before my training sesh at 6.
-Not much more annoying when browsing the web in the morning and you see a cool headline like “Watch Russian pilot eject at low altitude after being shot down”. Iclick on the link and they have a 43 minute video. I immediately close it out, who has time for that?
-Heading to Chicago this weekend to see a gal pal. Flying out of CVG as LEXs only options took you to Atlanta first,
. Weather looks perfect though mid 50s and sunny.
-Had over 50 work-related texts after leaving work. Unacceptable gang, when I leave I’m done bros. Just put the phone away, don’t care, it’s a gym nothing is going to happen that’s critical after 5.
Plus, I get there around 5-5:30. So yes coworkers I know you don’t get there for 3-5 more hours but when my responsibilities are done and I leave, idc it’s 2-4p, I did my time.
-Time to get my first serious lift
in since having a gnarly case of the flu. Still have a cough almost 2 weeks later, thinking I had bronchitis most likely too. Excited to get my sweat on again.

? Would’ve preferred that but don’t mind a little drive. Not far from Georgetown anyway. Ever since Covid I’ve gotten very comfortable with putting on a podcast and just driving to the little towns around Central KY and super nice neighborhoods in the Keys.
Cynthiana, Paris, Stamping Ground, Maysville, Carlisle, Oxford, Owenton, Leesburg, Sadieville, Nonesuch etc. Especially this time of year they’re super pretty. Just grab the dog and go cruising.
-And man I can’t do the white-white-pasty-marbled look, just can’t. I’ve started going once a week just for some color, can’t be worse than living every day in the sun for a decade…

From what I’ve been told, after his spicy chicken biscuit meal at McDonald's, he raced across town to be at our race and show off how great he is at exercise. Don’t know why he didn't have 20 seconds to spare to duck into a porta-let, but I have tickets for him & his family at EP Tom Sawyer Park to be treated as VIPs!!

Her husband expected to get off work that day around 4 and have time to shower, but he didn’t get out of the mines until after 5. Pressed for time, he showed up to the game with black smudges from head to toe. Someone snapped a photo, shared it on Facebook, and the rest is history.
“It’s normal for us,” Mollie says. “It’s nothing for us to go out to eat or him to come to our son’s tee-ball games or family events covered in coal dust, because he works daylight to dark (about 50 hours a week underground, they estimate) so that I can be home taking care of our kids (Easton has a 1-year-old sister named Lynlee). So we’ve just gotten used to it, coal dust everywhere. We’re kind of proud of it. It’s just what you’ve got to do around here to make a living. For someone to catch a picture of it and get it to Cal and all of this to happen, it’s just hard to believe.”
McGuire is uneasy about all of this attention. He has to think about it a while when asked what the gesture means.
“I can’t wrap my mind around it — at all,” he says. “I’m just excited to take my kids to Rupp.”

Pretty much every single picture I’ve seen posted of him, including staged family photos in a corn field, he has coal dust on his face - so I guess that’s his thing? The one profession I DO hate that does this are those in healthcare that wear their scrubs outside of work - the absolute worst.

Little one has 3 teeth coming in and an ear infection, along with the standard constant runny nose. Normally she likes to roll and crawl around on her own, but the last few days shes had to be held non-stop. Her first time really being sick which is brutal to see.
I've not quit drinking altogether, but its beyond rare that I have more than a drink (even that is becoming more rare) anymore. The memory of a couple really bad lockdown hangovers, and just some general health situations has all but eliminated the desire, I guess.
So you can apply for student debt forgiveness, which will be processed and may be approved, which may in turn be denied based on current legal proceedings? Just feels like that isnt going to end well.
Breeders Cup with a reservation to Merrick to cap off the night next weekend. May not be what it used to be, but It's still my favorite place/atmosphere in Lexington. Grouper fingers and the pork chop, hopefully paying with some of Keeneland's cash.

School boards all of the sudden wanting to really buckle down and get serious about k-12 graders actually working and learning is just rich. They will ultimately measure success by some insufficient merit that they decide is important, move kids on to college because they've demonized most of them out of using actual test scores and credentials as an admission requirement, and then pat themselves on the back while the world runs out of intelligent people with any type of work ethic.

- If I was a young single physician, you can bet your sweetass I’d wear my scrubs out to a bar for happy hour. Or possibly even a “Kentucky School of Medicine” shirt with my scrub bottoms.
- In case you’re wondering, my daughter had just capped her month of two colds, an ear infection, and pinkeye with a stomach virus. My entire house smells like puke and we might as well have just burnt the $9-10k for her preschool because she’s been there maybe a third of her eligible days. I am fed up.
Hang in there man. While our 3 year old has (knock on wood) always been healthy, our 1 year old has been thru it all since April. To top it off, she still gets up 2-3x per night and then for good at 5am.
Believe that is more in line with the anti-mandate crowd. You know, just a few months back when we had to carry papers around to enter bars, stores, airports or keep our jobs? Good for those folks getting their livelihoods back.
