It's less stress for me, because I'm not coaching, but I'm always stressed when he's competing. Doesn't matter what he's playing. Fairly certain that's universal as a parent.
If you look really closely, you can almost see Big A in the background nervously watching on, sweating bullets.

It's an oldie but a goodie. Cheer up. FFS, what was that even -- 15 years ago?

Little G has a bright future and we Wildcat fans are all rooting him on. Love that kid.

My oldest kid started running cross-country this year for his high school this year and it’s been a game-changer for him. Highly recommended as a parent. It’s actually motivated me to start running, as well. Hard pass on the shorts, though.

I enjoyed XC in HS, but if I could go back in time I would kick 7th grade me in the nads and say, "stick with football."

It was a cool sport, but it ain't football.

Look, the SnarkyBitch text thread discussed, and resolved CTE over the weekend, after examining the Antonio Brown video of him exposing himself in a middle eastern pool.

Consider CTE- CLOSED

I posted about my now 20yr old (former XC runner) finishing the No Business 100 last year around this time. He went on to win a 50K in even worse terrain about 6 weeks later. He couldn't shut the training off and it's literally all he thought about. His body started to break down from all the training and then he got typhoid fever in a foreign country in February and spent a week in the hospital. He's 6'2" and got down to 126lbs.

He had signed up at the first opportunity in January to run the NB again which is in the opposite direction this year so there is a different set of challenges to prepare for. I thought he made the decision to drop months ago. He just informed me he didn't drop and he's going to try to run again this year and just finish to get the double buckle for finishing it in both directions. He hasn't ran more than 5-6 miles at a time since January except for one long run back in August. He's just now getting close to what he weighed as a senior XC runner.

Moral of the story is that XC makes you nuts.

Cross country is horrible. I finished 5th in the state doing it too. Ran 15.37 in 1994. Finished equally high with a 4.31 in the mile then.

Its a complete mind f***k, but I can honestly say I enjoy watching my son compete and thank God isn’t me.

I’m glad you can enjoy this but it’s about ruined Chumps’ life. Runyan’s been his favorite walleye fisherman since he reeled in 11 at the Terre Haute Invitational in 2006.
At least Jake had the balls to sit there and take it. His buddy, Chase (typical), bolted and left him hanging.

Re-watched the Key td catch that was nullified by penalty. I may not understand the rule completely but Brown was off the ball and was the only guy in motion. I don’t understand how that’s a procedure penalty.

First tournament I fished hooked a bobber on the other side of a log that was attached to a basket of big bass. Went to the dock and informed the officials of the location. Dumbasses went to it about an hour before weigh in and grabbed a couple not knowing they were waiting on them. Busted!!
Haven’t fished in a tournament since.

I like how they’re all screaming for him to go to jail. Ummm, it’s a fishing tournament. People don’t go to jail for cheating in real sports with 100s of millions on the line, relax bubbas.

I pray that if I have kids they aren’t runners, seems like about the most boring way to have to spend a weekend in my opinion. Nothing against it, I just don’t want to be part of it.

Great exercise for young kids and get them used to exerting more than they feel they can. I hope my kids run for sure, just hope it’s to prep for another sport.

I, otoh, tried to play in the parent/daughter volleyball match a few years back, got tendinitis in my left ankle, and and had to hobble around in a boot for a month.

Old.

- Wife’s in Vegas for work and daughter woke up with pinkeye. Good times. Good times.

- Up there with about 10 Florida games in how pissed off I’ve been about a Kentucky football game.

- Nepotism is nowhere greater than in football coaching. It’s ridiculous.

- RE: My coordinators are a crapshoot take - see Brent Venables, arguably the best DC of the last decade.

- I just love me some Marty Smith. I really do.

- Anyone watching this Iran Hostage Crisis docuseries on HBOMax? Outstanding. Obviously, I was aware it happened and sunk Carter, but I wasn’t sharp on the details leading up to it. Really well done for you historyballs.

- Brett Favre is such a piece of ****. Not that this is news. He’s always been some redneck a-hole. Reminds me of a story I read years ago about all these athletes who have charities for no reason other than virtue signaling. They’d lose $$$ on their charity golf tournaments because they’d pay for all the celebrities’ travel, pick them up in limos, pay for their meals, put them in the best hotels, etc. These “charities” wouldn’t make ****.
