Random travel thoughts: you know what country is super cheap to fly to nowadays? Columbia. Surely one of you ballers has been there. It’s like $350 round trip on a non-Spirit airline.

Friday Randos:

~ This was, bar none, the worst summer of the 37 I've experienced to this point. Father in law passed very unexpectedly right after the 4th. Wife has been suffering with physical grief all summer and has drastically changed the dynamic of our entire family. We're getting better, but losing loved ones (especially out of the blue) is so unbelievably traumatic.

~ My FIL was not a UK guy, but he was a big fan of my fandom - a supporter if you will. We enjoyed watching sports together and it's something I will certainly miss. RIP Jim.

~ My take on the Queen is that she lived as interesting a life as you could imagine and saw some of the best and worst humanity had to offer. You can offer reverence for that without tabloidizing her.

~ Up 15 pounds since starting work from home and (presumed) grief eating. Starting hitting the pavement more regularly and picked up a pair of the Nike ZoomX infinity at my FIL's recommendation before he passed. These things are like trampoline shoes. Pretty smooth run too.

~ I have cut way back on the alcohol this summer and hope to continue that trend. It was part of the issue that caused my FIL to pass. I know we give Wynn's gummies **** because it has become Meta at this point but it's the perfect mind space I need to be in without all of the negative side effects of drinking. I'm thankful, sir.

~ Putting in a screened in porch, should be ready by mid-fall. Was supposed to start up in June. The holdup? Just county regulations. They wouldn't accept my initial survey when I purchased the home because of some antiquated law about registration from the surveyor. Called them directly on behalf of my construction company, there was 0 chance of getting that ball rolling. New survey done last week, fingers crossed.

~ Friday night is the best night of the week, bar none. If the NBA were drafting nights, Friday night would go 1st every time. Friday night holds the potential of exhilaration, anticipation of what may come and the final release of a week of stress. I relish Friday nights.

Friday Five FIL Edition :

Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon & Garfunkel
D'yer Maker - Led Zeppelin
I Feel Like I'm Fixin' to Die - Country Joe & The Fish
Blackbird - The Beatles
Bad Moon Rising - CCR

Gina Gershon was also smoking in Cocktail. She was still behind Liz Shue but definitely ahead of Kelly Lynch.

- In honor Mattscats, here is my top 5 Gameshow hosts of the 60s-80s:

5. Bob Eubanks - Most versatile
4. Richard Dawson - Most creepy
3. Gene Rayburn - Most drunk on the air, probably
2. Wink Martindale - Best name
1. Bob Barker - GOAT

Others receiving votes - Peter Tomarken (most charitable), Bill Cullen (Just an O.G.), and Jim Perry (Sale of the Century - most underrated show and host!)
Ray Combs (Most depressed)

Also, how TF is Pat Sajak not on in the top 5?

My list. Make your own. (Good call on Combs, though)

Pat Sajak is an *******. . . allegedly. So that disqualifies him. I left Trebek off on purpose too.

Gene Rayburn, on the other hand, seemed the type of guy that would buy you a beer and be your wingman if the occasion called for it.

-I really don't care about the royal family but like and respect Harry quite a bit. William is fine. When they lost their Mother I remember being really sad for them more than anything (mostly because of our closeness in age). They've become pretty decent men JMO.

-By Friday every game week I'm done with reading, analyzing, rationalizing, etc. Going to do my best to mentally check out on it for the next 24 hours or so before I wreck my physical and mental health from about 6:00 pm on tomorrow evening.

That said, I like UK late. Our defense wins the game, but Tayvion Robinson becomes a Wildcat for Life with a big night.

-Twin Peaks coming to Louisville. Possibility City strikes again, gang.

-Less than a month until baby girl arrives. 31 years of age for our first, nearly 41 for our 3rd. It's a young man's game and this old man is fighting dread to make room for the excitement I *should* have. She better be cute...

-We're going to see what we've got with Scangarello tomorrow night. I'm cautiously optimistic.

-Billy Napier ain't getting his first SEC win against Mark MF Stoops.

Shutting off all the noise about tomorrow's game, too. We win, there is no other result. I'll be a wreck during the game but there is something oddly therapeutic about getting on that emotional roller coaster the few times a year it presents itself.

She's not our queen, and at 96 she's had a full life, but she seemed to be a good person and about as normal as someone could possibly be under the circumstances. I could care less about royal weddings but am curious about the staging of a state funeral for a monarch and the upcoming coronation.

I was nervous af to have our last baby. My first born is 11.5 years older than he is, and my second youngest is 7 years older. I was 23 with my first, 35 with him. Was worried I’d ruined everything. My wife was a complete wreck her entire pregnancy. But he is absolutely, far and away the absolute best thing that’s ever happened to any of us. I cannot imagine life without my special little Covid baby. You got this, wildcatfriend.

First time as fan I KNOW we can win…not think we have a chance. Think this team knows it as well.
Feel like a virgin anticipating what could happen.

There are two songs from the new Childers album out. On apple music at least. The songs are good and interesting, he’s singing his *** off, sounds like Sturgill’s guitar. Not traditional country arrangements, I doubt there is a “single” on this album. It also looks like it is a three disc concept album, although based on the two songs available I’m not sure I’m seeing what that means (I’m also really high, so who knows).

Edit - the Louisville cheerleaders look like some dirty little bitches.

[laughing] [laughing]

I love the freaking prolonged period of competitive, tough football UK has fielded & DAMN if we didn't get a guy w/the name AND he brought the national attention

Kentucky fans weren't real casual fans throughout the mediocre and bad years either

I think we have to oddest and 2nd least football oriented culture in the SEC --- BUT -- look at us now!!

All TURNT UP with highlight generating players, and a series of conference and bowl wins that have propelled our football Cats - to being a strata or maybe two higher than Ive ever seen them

Defense gonna have to win it for them
And - YES - I want to see some headhunters play on the verge of INSTITUTIONALLY VIOLENT!!!

Somehow - kind of quietly

Florida has surpassed Tennessee as my Most Hated SEC Team

My wife is drinking a THC/CBD lemonade mix. This **** is everywhere. I'm also a little high on hand grenades and the laughter of my children. Game feels like it's a week away at this point.

Played poker with a group of mostly UL fans tonight. Seemed to piss them off I bet on UL. They were absolutely defeated before the game and the fact that I, a UK fan, wanted them to win was annoying AF to most as they had no idea I was at that point as contrarian as PTI.

18 fellas playing poker, drinking bourbon, and in our own way all cheering against UL(in reality).

Friday night!

My bourbon honey hole is drying upup here. Dude sends out a list via email with links to alllocated bottles… effing bots scoop up that **** out of my cart in milliseconds… so long Russell’s 13.🙄🖕🏻

my brother in law did go this morning down to Bardstown and get me a BBC Château De Laubade today at gift shop. That is one I’ve been waiting on.

Sons of Italy Italian feast tonight. Over priced ****** food, terrible music, ice cold beers… great time under a full moon.

my son has gained 10 pounds in his first 20 days at UK. Power lifting and unlimited chow has bulked him up immediately.

6 am start tomorrow

Pretty sure that BBC has been utilized for years for something else, Kooky. Otherwise, congrats on the anal, I guess.

UCF couldn’t have given that game away easier if they tried. Eff Louisville

I think Gabbert is a better QB than AR15, but not the athlete obviously. I think our Defense shines tonight- pitching a near shutout with 2 takeaways.

23-7.
