Found a local fertilizer dealer the pros buy from. Gave me a schedule to follow and promised if I followed it to a tee I would be happy with the results. Sure enough, yard looks amazing. I do everything from cutting it, dethatch twice a year and aerate once a year. A lot of work but my middle aged self is now obsessed with it. Next season I am upping my game by getting a reel mower. May come to regret that. but for now don’t steal my joy.

So you're using Scotts.

FYI....you don't need to aerate but every 2-3 years if your yard is in great shape.

I use that Kentucky 31 tall fescue seed. Just make sure it’s a good seed that’s not usually from a box store or you’ll get too many weeds and blends opposed to a true seed. Learned that the hard way. Now, I’ll only buy from Southern States or another farm supply.

BTW, love listening to you guys on the Twitter machine. Only problem is it starts way too late for this old man to make it through to the end. Was out last night way before the first hour was up.
Listened as well. I guess it pops up for me because I follow JDrum on Twitter, but it’s well done and a fun listen.

My first wife had this habit of taking an hour to pick out lingerie and I had to be there to assure her it looked good on her.
***** you wear a 36c and small panties it’s not rocket science. I’m also not dumb enough to say anything but yes, it looks great.
So I decided one day since I was the only guy in that whole department and every woman just stared at me I’d just give them a reason. Found a bright red lacy panty and put it on my head. Wife wasn’t as amused and stormed out muttering something I knew wasn’t praise.
Didn’t have to go lingerie shopping anymore and didn’t get any that night either. Should’ve gone with the lace teddy and garters I guess.

Some Friday shitdohs:

- Have a nice, pleasant neighbor but he's also weird AF. Addicted to lawn work now and to his credit, he's lost ~100lbs. BUT, this dude just helps himself to our landscape bricks and walking the pup this morning noticed he helped himself to some bags of mulch we had very clearly in front of our garage. He also just f'd up all the sod work I did.

- Apparently have had leaks in my truck since I've had it. Finally got to the point the carpet under the seats were covered in white mold. Two f'ing vents that release cabin pressure just leaking like a sieve. Already pulled the seats once and have to do this all again to get to where they can be replaced. A weekend project I could do without.

- Welcome to Wrexham is decent. Ryan Reynolds and Mac from Always Sunny bought a futbol club in Wales. Probably on the 4th or 5th soccer doc now and I get it. Soccer fans passion for even the shittiest of teams is pretty special to see. Need to get overseas to see a match.

- That show Animal Kingdom wrapped-up. Kinda meh finish but gatdang Leila George is smoke and made the last 2 seasons more bearable.

- Not a lot of pre-game chirping from the UF buddies like years past. At least they know now there is no easy 'W' coming to town.

- Enjoyed some Naked Gun clips with the unfortunate news of the Queen. The bathroom scene at the press conference is still one of the best.

- Braves are a .5 game back and have chased down a team winning 60% of their games that was 10 games up on them.

- Payday Friday

- Buddy was in town this weekend that has been bragging non-stop about how good his golf game is now. Still hits the ball unlike anyone else I've ever seen that isn't a pro. Had 3 or 4 easily carrying 310+. I left the gummies at home and put him down with 2 strokes to spare.

- Like saving time-off towards the end of the year. Put in for 80 hours of nicely spread out PTO this week. Marcus enjoy it until this new owner buries us with their inept and ignorant leadership.

- Some beers are now 11.2 ounces. Look, I understand things are tough, inflation is high, government is awful and rich people have lots of money BUT THIS IS A GD BRIDGE TOO FAR!

- Artemis I pushed until Sept 23rd. Can't imagine the b-hole puckering knowing the previous launches were scrapped from technical issues like a hydrogen leak. Just get them up and back home safe.

- Congrats to all on the sex.

Notes:

- The CBS college football anthem is going to sound weird with the B1G video montage playing over the HD set. It'll be interesting to see what the ratings do when the carryover happens.

- Came in 3rd in my age group (40-49) for a 5K last weekend. It was my little hometown's annual festival. I won my age group last year, but the participants were few and far between. I "feel" like I was in better shape than last year, but I ran about 5 seconds slower. Maybe weather?* It was about 10-12 degrees warmer this time.* Oh, the time was 24:02 for those interested. Good enough to finish about mid-pack for anywhere else!

* I'm looking for an excuse other than OLD, bear with me.

-
As I become more and more familiar with Texas A&M and their "ilk," I realize that they are the home school kid of the SEC. Weirdos.

- In honor Mattscats, here is my top 5 Gameshow hosts of the 60s-80s:

5. Bob Eubanks - Most versatile
4. Richard Dawson - Most creepy
3. Gene Rayburn - Most drunk on the air, probably
2. Wink Martindale - Best name
1. Bob Barker - GOAT

Others receiving votes - Peter Tomarken (most charitable), Bill Cullen (Just an O.G.), and Jim Perry (Sale of the Century - most underrated show and host!)

- Whatever happened to the band, O.A.R.? They had a great run that one weekend.

- Speaking of . . . whatever happened to those late college kids that posted here a few years ago (Barry Slice and whoever)? Bet they are leaders in their career field with trophy wives and masculine sons that are in med school. Congrats to them.

- I've reached that place in my life where my teenage children are leaving Post-It notes on food. Shew buddy, the screaming matches that take place if something "disappears."

- Gina Gershon was an underrated early 90s hottie. Or maybe she was rated properly, I can't remember. She's just someone that gets overlooked when we talk about the hot chicks from that era.

- As we prepare for SOUP WEATHER, has the light, zip-up jacket gone out of style? Has the 1/4 zip sweatshirt/athletic hoodie replaced those like the white-soled sneaker has taken out the dress shoe? I look good in a light jacket, damn it! I want a new one, but ????

That's all I got.

America’s obsession with the royals is stupid. And that’s my Friday Take.

Agree on this take, however, she was a rock and a hero to many around the world. She also deserves major props for handling with class all of the family tabloid drama that has taken place the last few decades. Any other era and she would have off'd some of them with a guillotine.

- Squarely in that "I have so much work to do, I don't even know where to start" zone today. So I'm on Cat's Paw.

- I think it's fine to be interested, and maybe even highly interested, in the behind-the-scenes stuff concerning the royal family. Watched a bit of the ABC special last night myself. Where it gets ridiculous is when Americans get emotionally tied to it. Or obsessed with it. My wife is neither, thankfully.

- Supposed to head to the local HS game tonight, but goodness, 86 degrees at kickoff on a Friday night doesn't sound the least bit appealing. And the two national CFB games tonight are mildly intriguing. Can Floyd Street bounce back against Gus' bunch? Will Boise State continue their slide into meh? Thinking a night enjoying some low-stakes CFB from the recliner sounds better than watching the local boys put one on a likely-overmatched Tates Creek team.

- Speaking of Boise State, they play New Mexico tonight. Always thought New Mexico had a cool brand going. "Lobos" is a unique mascot, the logo looks cool, the cherry/silver is a nice color combo, their area is a cool old barn called "The Pit", tons of local support (for basketball, at least). UNM is THE show in town out there in Albuquerque. Always respected places like that. Great food scene and topography, too.

- No clue what to expect in the Swamp tomorrow. Literally all boils down to the Kentucky OL. A toss-up, IMO.

Gina Gershon was an underrated early 90s hottie.

She was great as the Hasidic Jew dry cleaner on Curb.

I've had regular arguments with my wife over the royals. She worships. I dig London and we've spent a great deal of time in the UK- but I've had to explain to her many times why Mountbatten's assassination was necessary.

* My in-laws are from the border region of Ireland and seemed to take great pleasure in the queen passing away. Seemed a bit much for me but I get it...

* Cats by 9. Low scoring. Wright was a much more important get for this game.

* Went to Oxmoor Mall a few weeks back to grab a couple things for a next day trip only to find out that most of the stores really just want you to place an order and ship it to you since they apparently don't carry inventory anymore. Another store didn't even exist anymore. It had be 3 years since my last 'real' mall trip so I suppose I'm at fault but there are some things that I'd prefer to at least have the option to buy/have immediately.

I hate the B10 as much as anybody but the CBS ratings won't be going down when the SEC leaves. The B10 had 6 or 7 of the top 10 rated games last year.

We know they aren't better. Just a numbers game.

-monarchies are stupid/archaic and should not exist. That said...they do, and to uko's point she did a helluva job navigating through a period of time that encompassed the most rapid "change/advancements" in human history.

-don't see the cards beating the golden nights.

You talking imports, right? I think that has to do with the metric system and bottling practices in other countries. Another reason why the metric system is the Devil's math.

Can you not give a **** about the royal family and still really enjoy The Crown, and other good period pieces about them?

- I remember when Princess Diana died I came in the room and my mom was sobbing on the couch. Weird.

- All the usual MSM suspects and the lovely appeal to authority PhD's with their posthumous 'opinion' hit pieces coming out of the woodwork the second the news broke is such spineless ****. White supremacy, colonization, genocide, slave trade, multilingualism, apartheid culture, forced extraction of labor... Check your woke bingo cards, folks.

I've long been fascinated by the Royal Family, England, and it's history. Started w/ Mom, who was absolutely OBSESSED with Diana & grew tenfold over 2 trips to London. It's cool & unique, imo.

Doesn't mean I have any actual reverence for them. Although i could definitely see myself enjoying a life at Downton Abbey.

I'm also fascinated with North Korea and watch literally anything I can find on it.
