- Tom Browning got a DUI. How do I know this? Because the Cincinnati media is gleefully posting it all over social media. The dude has been retired for 25 years. I’ve never understood why the media loves humilating people who’ve been out of the public spotlight for decades. “Paul from The Wonder Years Charged with Domestic Abuse!” “Remember Lil Dave from Another Bad Creation? Well, he just got busted for meth!”

- Love the old ‘80s SEC logo with the 10 school pennants around the circle logo. When I was little, I had a brief plan to buy all 10 school pennants and surround an SEC logo on a wall in my grown up crib. Never came to pass. Thanks, Roy Kramer!

Selfishly, I still wish the SEC was at 10 teams. Other than Arkansas in basketball, the new teams don’t do much for me. And Texas and OU can get pumped.

Against the wishes of Bernie Sanders, I'm part of the 1%. Proudly.
You got a W-2 to support this humblebrag?

I have a Tag, got one after a blackjack heater in Vegas. It’s nice, I’m just not a watch nerd. Hardly ever wear it unless going out. My phone tells time.

I value experiences over things…it’s just I like the things to make the experiences:)

Fun weekend at the lake. Anth cooked me a really nice steak. It was perfect😉 Watched Maverick for the third time this week. Chomp.

Miss you guys. It’s football season in the Bluegrass!!

Had no idea how nice that place was and they were definitely ready to show it off. At first i was thinking I’ll check out 20 seconds of this and then watched all of it.

When the drone circled Kiyaunta Goodwin with his arms raised, that was amazing.

* Great to have Dr. Boat back.

* Dorking out over watches is different than using one as a bougie display of "wealth". My take was poorly worded. My apologies, Watch Nerds.

* 😂 at Blueberry.

Shorts:

- Vern with some bizarre movie takes. Shawshank is a classic. Elite actors. Outstanding plot. How can anyone bad mouth Shawshank? Maverick was alao terrific- just a fun 80s-esque action movie.

- That said, I feel BBdK on his point. The hype more or less ruined Hamilton for me. It’s fine.

- Sad to hear John Wall went through all that ****. I know it’s en vogue for celebs to claim poor mental health these days but I’ve always found him to be a pretty sincere guy. Actually, as far as people, he’s one of my favorite Cal guys.

- One of my wife’s friends- well not really a friend, in her friend circle- just married a doctor this past weekend. This chick has dated like 10 doctors in a row. No real type besides that - they’ve been nerds, fat guys, Indian guys, a-holes, guys likely on the spectrum, all over the board. Total doctor groupie. In her hey day, she was hot but that’s fading fast. She pretty much sucks as a person. Good luck with that. I’m sure GYERO docs have come across these types a few times in their day.

- I don’t want to get into any politics but pretty remarkable thinking just over 20 years ago, UK (tuition only - not counting board) wasn’t much more than New Cath ($3k vs. $2k) and now it’s what - $13k? Like $27k with board. Enjoy the new gym, kids.

- Wife’s work friend struggled to get pregnant, finally did, miracle baby and whatnot, and died last week from a stroke as the result of preeclampsia. Wife just talked to her two weeks ago. Devastating. Baby survived. Can’t imagine.

-I understand BBdk's point(re: Maverick) but you have to be a real sad person to not enjoy the movie. Especially if you're an 80's brat.

-Brady, Garbage Pail Kids still a thing?

Pretty great to see card collecting thriving. I worshipped. It was my plan to get rich. Looking at the cards I still have... good thing I went to college and my old man worked his *** off.

-Kyrie is a human piece of ****. Jesus, can this dude just leave the planet? “One of the reasons why there are issues between him [Nash] and Kyrie Irving was because of a statement he made during a party at Steve Nash’s house. In front of everybody, Kyrie said, ‘You need to give those MVP trophies back to Kobe [Bryant] because you didn’t deserve them.’

-
Bowden cut by Miami. Damn. Hope he lands somewhere that can keep him focus like Stoops/Marrow. Kid needs a mentor.

-Wall 😥 Clippers should be great for him. 2 respected, low drama, stars ahead of him. Just play the late years D Rose game.

-"Quiet quitting" OH, you're in a pointless job at 24 and mailing it in? How original. GYERO was founded on that very premise. Never been a generation hater but b/w this and the mentally destressed Apple losers... I'm this close. Good time to be a motivated young person. The ladder doesn't seem too crowded.

-Reviewing practice tape for 6/7 year old fall ball coach pitch is pretty normal behavior, I'm not taking this too serious am I?

-Getting old, is getting old. Something different every day.

Irving is that special combination of douchebag and idiot rolled into one.

Plus, he thinks he’s smarter than everyone else.

By the way- I sincerely doubt Nash took any offense to that. Not that type of guy. Nash and everyone else with the Nets besides dbag Durant are pissed because Irving never plays basketball, the sport for which he is handsomely paid to play.

I'm a film snob, I admit. Just like Geese with bourbon, BBdk with food and Anth with everything, my standards are high.

Concerning Maverick, I felt the plot was formulaic and predictable, the dialogue was cliche and cheesy, and the acting was stale and forgettable. The action scenes were impressive, but not enough to carry the movie.

Maverick is nothing more than a more expensive version of that enormously awful Coast Guard movie with Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher.

I'm glad it stirred up some nostalgia for most of you. That's swell. But the movie is a mountain of ****. Sorry if that hurts any feelings.

Maverick was a mindless popcorn flick that was tailor made for the movie theatre. It happened to be the first action movie worth seeing after COVID when people were ready to go back to the theaters so happened to hit perfect timing. I’m not sure the motivation to see it several times, but to each their own. But anyway, it was fine. It wasn’t the best movie of the decade nor was it ****. It was entertaining.

~Hype from many can ruin anything that may be good....movie, restaurant, new musician, etc. Read a few reviews you have come to trust and leave it at that. Then judge it for yourself. ex....saw Hamilton in NYC; good but it wasn't even in my top 5 of Broadway shows.....to each their own. But to say Maverick sucked?....may want to sit this one out.

~Love a nice watch...doesn't have to be a rolex, but a great watch can be the icing on the daily cake. Apple/fitness/etc.....those aren't "watches".

~Judge needs 12 HR in the final 33 games to hit 62 for a Yanks record and Pujols needs 6 in the final 33 to reach 700, but will probably only play half of those.

~NFL, NCAAF, and pennant races....September is going to be good.

~HHI in 12 days...

Fried egg sandwich w/ bacon, tomato, mayo on sourdough. Large kona classic.

-Never understood hating things because others get a lot of joy out of it. May not be my thing but if they’re happy I am happy.

-Anth, yes they still produce GPK too. I think a Series 1 unopened box from 1984 brings around 25-30k. If anybody has Series 1 sets they bring decent $.

-John Wall has been through a lot. Doc is the perfect coach for him.

-Lynn being cut sucks because it’s more of a Lynn issue. No way that dude shouldn’t be starting in the NFL. Think he has some serious anger issues. He absolutely LOVES UK fans. He has told me several times he wishes he didn’t leave early.

People like Lynn and Boogie need that love/support. $$$ isn’t everything.

-Last two years been selling the high end sports cards and buying rental properties /destination rentals. The sports card market will crash one day. When it does I plan to be on an island somewhere.

-there are young men that are physically ready to jump to professional sports that aren't mentally ready for the transition. NIL *should* help mitigate these issues. Sucks for LB, hope he lands somewhere that works.

Bowden is seasoned now and can play football. The way the game is evolving right now there is no way a player like him can’t find a niche 5-8 touches a game in the slot, halfback/direct snap QB run.

Curtis Samuel type guy.

- Maverick was excellent. Anyone my age “should” have liked top gun, and this paid homage to that nicely. Sometimes it’s just that simple.

- 4R OESV 16YO, yes please.

Chad- I'm a bit of a self-admitted watch nerd, and like Rudd, I'm not worried about impressing others. Its just something for my own enjoyment.

If you want something for date night, weddings, etc I'd suggest a Tissot. Citizen and Seiko you mentioned are great too along with Orient and Bulova. Whatever you prefer the look of.

For a more rugged sports watch look at Casio G-shocks or the Garmin Anth mentioned.

If its just one watch for everything its hard to go wrong with a diver watch based on the Rolex Submariner and many brands make one in that price range you mentioned.
