Monday shitdohs:

- Ex employee of the company my brother works for is the psycho that murdered 3 and shot himself in Tuscon over an eviction. His ex-wife still works at the company and accidentally shot him a few weeks ago. https://www.yahoo.com/news/horrifying-inexcusable-tucson-constable-shooting-231946969.html

- Nephews started school today. Of the 99% of FB posts I couldn't care less about, seeing the kiddos ready for a first day back is always heart-warming.

- Pulled the bench seat out of truck and cleaned white mold for several hours. Can't find the leak and there is a small puddle in one of the storage compartments. Can't wait to find out what that's going to cost.

- Needed a jump for the Z. Guy at AZ was like "nice car!" before dropping the charger pack on her and denting it.
- Scheffler showed he's human yesterday.

- Understood why Frost left but he really was a perfect fit for UCF.

- Took the pup up for a follow-up training session yesterday. Got to see the difference between a competition-trained Malawa and mine that can barely sit still and not bark. Could probably watch bite training for a few hours. Spinning her around like a helicopter, body slams, running distractions around her and no chance of releasing that bite until given the command. Cool to see in person.

- Launch to the moon got scrapped and next attempt if Friday 12:48 pm.

- Got a rainy back 9 in at Stadium last week. Course is just in unbelievable shape. Looks better without all the tents and stands up.

- 3 weeks into Smile Direct Club. Love it so far and much less painful than what I remember from braces. Dentist wasn't impressed regular people can do their own impressions and save 3k over Invisalign.

- NFL preseason is absolutely worthless and boring AF. Thankfully Stoops gets to put something worthwhile to watch on the field this Saturday.

Football Season Shorts:

- Miami should perennially be the top program in the MAC. Good location. Cool college town. Great education. All kinds of smoke walking around campus. I love taking pot shots at their alumni but I’ll be damned if I didn’t have a great time every time I’ve been.

- I’m pretty neutral overall on Nebraska. Have met only a couple of their fans my entire life. Only time they’ve really annoyed me was the Wandale situation (but I got it). I’d like to see them come back a bit for no other reason than a sense of solidarity with another flagship of a rural state with a huge passionate fanbase and great tradition.

- Saw a study that 45% of Gen Z would love to leave their real jobs to become social media influencers. F off Gen Z.

- Have absolutely nothing for preseason NFL games.

- According to our 20 year old family friend, utilizing a fake ID is a complete ***** now with scanning and whatnot. Hang in there, Gen Z.

- Is it just me or do American soccer fans try way too damn hard. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a rivalry manufactured like this FC Cincinnati-Columbus Crew thing.

- RE: Disconnection from Sports - I just don’t have as much time as I used to. If the Reds - for instance- are going to decide to suck for a decade, I’m not going to fight the wife to have the games on in the background. That said, my passion is every bit as strong for UK basketball and football, and my Bengals love is as healthy as it’s been since 2005.

- I think there’s a big misconception out there that the Ben-Gals are loaded with dimes. There are some but I’d take the UK Dance Squad every day.

- Thiero was so impressive to me. Love the way he plays. Kid belongs already. Was originally rolling my eyes about the “still growing” narrative until I saw that his mom is 6’4”.

- I don’t get the Chris Stapleton hype and I don’t get the Joe Rogan hype either. Both are fine. They’re fine.

- I need some watch advice. What’s best in the $500-1,000 range? Clown- any thoughts? Are Casio good? Seiko? Tag Heuer?

Agree with you on lack of time. My wife is pretty cool and all and has never busted my balls about watching sports but I def ain’t gonna take advantage of it. I’d say I get 6-8 hours a wk to watch sports. UK football and bball takes priority and she leaves me alone during those games so I’m def not gonna go out of my way to watch the 50-75 Cincinnati reds every night of the wk that takes away time from helping her out.

Rogan is fine, wouldn't argue with that take at all, but he gets the most interesting guests in the podcast game. He also doesn't censor guests and they tend to open up. 75% of his podcasts are easy skips but 25% are fantastic.

I was hoping to hear Zuck get asked some damn questions but I guess they just made an advertisement for his new VR stuff. That blows.

Castle has slightly used or new Rolexs all the time. I guess the Lexmark employee watches make it there. Not sure if they're in the grand range though. Maybe double?

I've learned from Hyman over the years The key with selecting watches is to find ones that are as ugly and obnoxious as possible.

I'm with Chad on Stapleton. He's okay, but too sappy with most of his music for my tastes.

The double whammy of not televising games in my market and trading away any player with a dime more value than their contract is worth has really damaged my Reds fandom. MLB overall is losing major steam with me.

Don't do podcasts so my take on Rogan isn't really fair.

Nice little storm bursts here in Lex. Messes up my painting schedule, but helps out my burn pile schedule.

Got a request for donations from UKAA to donate more money to help with the rising costs of covering our student athletes. Plan to send it back with "sell beer" written in the donation amount line.

Nine people shot in Lexington over the weekend, seven were women. WTF?

With every day that passes, I'm getting closer to saying F-it and reverting back to the farm.

Lots of freshmen on the 2 deep for UKFB.

Well, this is a **** show start to my work trip.

At Coals (Airport) drinking a beer and two women are blaring their phone. Pissed them off, I suggested they do that on the plane as well. Said they wouldn't do that...15 second blank stare from me. Proceed to take a sip.

Then some **** bird sits beside me wearing a mask then immediately pulls it off to order, drink, and eat.

Great job, *******.

UK has the 4th largest academic endowment in the SEC per wiki. Only behind Texas AM, Vandy, and Florida.

I think we're the only school not selling alcohol at games now too.

I'm not giving them another dime of my money beyond season tickets, and even that is getting more scrutiny every year.

That actually would make PTI(pti) happy as hell. As long as you don't sign them to actual FMV contracts and spend money to win games, that's the most important thing.

My man couldn't care less if the Reds ever win another game as long as they are financially responsible.

Ok, Rudd, there is no way that Shinola watch is made in Detroit.

One quick look at their website....they make:

- hipster bicycles?
- purses
- dice with leather cup
- a baseball
- a football
- greeting cards

There is zero chance Shinola is anything more than a hipster assembly joint.

Ready to eat crow, but that website is...interesting. And there is nothing at all wrong with a microbrand upstart watch made of foreign components. It just seem super suspect and cliche.

Oh, they are a LIFESTYLE BRAND, not a watch manufacturer.

Also,

In June 2016, the Federal Trade Commission ordered the company to stop using "Where American is Made" as a slogan because "100% of the cost of materials used to make certain watches is attributable to imported materials."[82]

Get real.

Dude, go to the Shinola website. It's something straight from Pinterest. Who created this bs??? And the price on that watch...

GET A TIMEX! They look eerily similar, and Timex has a rich tradition and well established following.

"the name is based on the ol' saying 'You don't know **** from Shinola' lollmaaoaoa"

Chad, just get something from the Timex Waterbury collection for $75 and if you still like watches after a month, pull your big boy britches up and order a geniune made in america timex for $750.

There’s a physical Shinola store up here that I’ve walked past about 50 times and never even considered stepping foot in specifically due to the appearance of their employees. I thought it was a hipster Hollister geared towards 40 year old homosexuals. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Might have to go check out their watches now.

-it's absolutely a hipster lifestyle brand now...started with watches. It's their own "movement" assembled in Detroit with Swiss and "other" (read China) parts.

^Sadly that's about as good as it gets in the <$1000 price range.

-very few of even the high end watchmakers make their own movements....most are made by ETA and a few other Swiss shops. Your USA timex is assembled in Connecticut with SE Asian parts.

-bottom line: I've owned a lot of nice watches...the shinola is a solid everyday watch. Is it as nice as my Jaeger le coultre master calander or my Ulysses Nardin maxi marine chrono? No...but they can be found for $300-$400 as opposed to 8k and up.

-stick to chicken sammies, truck stops and pretending to be black, mash.*

*edited. Last part sounded mean...not my intent. Just busting balls.

Whatever they’ve been doing the last 32 years hasn’t worked very well, so I’m glad to see them take a different approach.
