early weekend snackdo

I just finished a delicious meal at Cousins Maine Lobster, which had a truck in our neighborhood. Place is *chefs kiss* Had the roll and the lobster tots. Really gotta try to screw up tots

Had my 9 year anniversary last night. Jesus time flies. We go to Eddie Merlots every year as our tradition, one of my favorite steakhouses. They have their own ranch in Australia for their Wagyu beef. I asked him what made it wagyu and I got the horrifying backstory. Apparently after this cow is 2 weeks old it’s literally made drunk every single night of its life with Irish beer. At the end of every night they soak brooms in oil and then massage the animals every single night for 2 hours. It’s believed that the animal being drunk every night in combination with the massage eliminates almost all stress and causes the meat to be exceptionally tender. After hearing this story of animal torture I of course got it. **** was phenomenal.

We had my parents watch the kids last night so that I could get some action so of course I once again overserved and she was passed out in the car ride home at 9 🙄 Amazing what happens to these girls tolerance after kids.

What did Grady do, or not do, that has you feeling that way?

I remember him being a key reason we beat BAMA/LSU back to back, IIRC.

My parents, sister and BIL drove to Maine and swung by Cooperstown on the way back. Dad just called me all excited, wearing a Reds shirt and said he went up to some officials and said he was here representing Peter Edward Rose. lol

Got to say I’m a little jealous right now. Not a big bucket list guy but Cooperstown is on the list.
Hope they swung by Saratoga… cause that joint is magical.

Keen’s last night. Authentic NYC steakhouse with 90,000 pipes on the ceiling.

2 WT Kentucky Spirits, Crab cocktail (that my 8 year old squatted on), mutton chop, shrooms. Carrot cake closer. Marvelous.

Less expensive and better than Ruby’s for sure. All-male waitstaff… wonder when women will get a fair shake at serving at top notch restaurants? Then again, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

Although great in every way, I’m done with steakhouses for a while. Hit my quota. They’re fine.

Cape May next week, Lexington the following week for my baby’s move in.

Summer 5:

John Prine : Summer’s End
Frank Sinatra : Summer Wind
Marcus King / Billy Strings : Summertime
Sly & Fam Stone : Hot Fun in the Summertime
Bananarama : Cruel Summer

Hey now -

So we have a group of veterans at Bluegrass Station organizing a relief effort type trip into E. Kentucky on 8/6/Saturday

The core team is all Lockheed employees but I'm sharing details about the effort with friends & family down in the Middlesboro area so we may be picking up others by the time we leave the Lexington area.

Details are being worked out next week and I will post those here in case others are interested in helping

Last year the same small team traveled to Western Ky to help w/the tornado aftermath --- they provided manual labor where needed and dropped off surprisingly large quantities of water, food, diapers etc.

Every little bit certainly helps and I will return to post details when available

Have a good night!
👍

** BREAKING NEWS **

Reds trade Luis Castillo, top pitcher on the market, to Yankees for a 16 year-old, 2 rookie ball catchers who both need knee surgery, and a high upside reliever who's scheduled for Tommy John.

Well………

I don't follow baseball that much anymore since it's a dying sport in a lot of ways and has turned into even a more boring version of itself of 9 innings of strikeouts or home runs with not much interesting in between, but the Reds got #1, #3, and #5 prospects from the Mariners in this deal, a team that had the second best farm system in the entire league going into the season. Plus the Mariners threw in a 22-year-old reliever who has a 1.95 ERA in 25 games in single A this year. That's a pretty ridiculous haul. I mean, the macro problems with baseball and the Reds are what they are, but this trade itself was really as good as it gets for Castillo.

Maybe you don’t follow baseball anymore because your team should be relegated to AAA.

I wont lie - there are a few things I harbor prejudices toward ...nothing as complicated or predictable as "race" or "skinny girls" but other, more subtle things ...things that i REALLY struggle to reconcile myself & be comfortable with - such as:

1) Monekys - I won't belabor the point (but its ALL of them)

2) Ferrets - move too quickly, always DARTIN' around like they're fresh out of the GD crack lab - CERTAINLY don't trust their ugly , yellow little snake teeth (always feel like they'll "go for my eyes" too)

3) People - especially men ...with profoundly close-set-eyes .....cant do it, brah -- look away, Corky .....this reminds me -- hope our new offensive coordinator has our boys gellin'

4) "OPC" - Something unexpected & revolting happened once when i was like 8 or 4 and me and my brother visited an elderly neighbor - we did some yard work -- she paid us in bottles of RC Cola - and fresh slices of BrightOrange American Cheese -- hell I was hungry and the RC was going down smooth so -- bit into that gift-cheese and something Hard and chitinous crunched so loudly and it was black --- hell I just blocked it out ---->> OPC = "Other People's Cheese"

5) Japanese/Eastern Style Toilets: Spoiler alert -- they are nothing more than a MF'ing 5-6" wide and approximately 2' long HOLE IN THE GROUND - you know they're out there - off base but you try to plan accordingly.

Well - once --- while on a date I realized I was gonna have to go "Do Number Two" -- the Japanese way .....

and NO ONE TELLS you how this should work so - you do some estimating ....surely you dont face AWAY from the wall??

i could see that -- by facing the wall i could reach out and hang onto the exposed water pipes that came fm an elevated tank and disappeared above ---

SO i do that and now bombay is open - I decide to take one last peek over my shoulder --- squinting to aim perfectly (gaging windage)

Soon - a heavy unforgiving payload IS DROPPING LIKE A B52 WITH SOMEWHERE ELSE TO BE ----->>> AND THATS when the pipes I was clinging to broke -- they JUST gave out ....simply not engineered for a western man to cling and lean onto like that ----

so of course water is flowing EVERYWHERE & God only knows what the "bomb site" looked like .....zipped tucked PANICKED and fled - ZERO explanation to Masami -- just did the humanitarian thing and evacuated her too

Have had a terrible experience with public (think a public park) toilet in China.

Needless to say, it involved a travel size tissue package, standing over a hole in the ground squatting, a ruined pair of boxers that had to be used in the wiping process, and a very uncomfortable feeling when I got to the all Chinese speaking office for the rest of the day.

I feel bad for the next user of that “station” bc that hole in the ground was not hit with any sort of accuracy. I left a war zone.

LOL. I guess the stories I've heard about Asia from a guy that flies jumbo jets around the world are true. He says you better finish your business before you leave the hotel.

2. Samoa
3. All Scandinavian countries that do strongman competitions.
4. Germany

Do people realize that by masking they are actually making this stupid disease much worse than it actually needs to be? We’ve weakened our immune systems so much over the past 2 years that our bodies don’t know what to do.

Guy I know has been quarantining literally for two years. Quad vaxxed. Wears a N95 if he has to go to the store. Leaves groceries in the garage to get the covid out. No kidding he and his wife and kids have had covid really bad for the past week and out of circulation. Despite ALL of his precautions and all of his paranoia. He still got it bad.

Makes my blood boil how stupid we’ve been as a society.

It emboldened neurotic people and germa-phobes to feel normal and actually be the “good ones” for a couple years instead of the usual stigma and negativity associated with that behavior. The guy you know isn’t “being safe”, he’s a nut that has been told it’s fine to act like a nut. I hope we can put the lid back on these OCD people soon and not allow them to infect normal behavior.

I know of about 2.2 million of us that don’t have an immune system that would respectfully disagree with you. But hey, it’s America, if it doesn’t include you who the eff cares. At least that’s the mindset anymore.

I love my kids but for the first time since they were born they’re gone for the weekend and it is GLORIOUS.

They’ve stayed with their grandparents plenty of other weekends but it’s been when the wife and I were out of town. But this weekend we’re sleeping in our own bed, coming and going as we please, getting work done around the house and just enjoying doing nothing.

Society should not base all its decisions on a group that makes up less than 1% of the population.

I'm sorry your immunity sucks.
