So let me get this straight- the two biggest up-and-coming stars in MLB are on the trade market?
Well in the Nats defense they did offer Soto nearly a half billion dollars and he immediately said nah. So that’s pretty understandable from their part.
Ohtani isn't definitely on the market, but there are rumblings. He has stated his desire to play for a winning franchise, and the Angels are....not that. Plus, Trout now has a back issue.
They may end up keeping him, but he's definitely open to a move instead of re-signing.

If the Angels were smart they’d trade Ohtani and Trout to completely rebuild.
In baseball you absolutely can not take a band aid approach as it never works except big market teams that can overspend on bigger better band aids.
I hate watching teams like the Nats, Cubs, Reds, A’s, Giants, Tigers etc get as close to success as they have over the last decade but ultimately coming short and selling off everything to try again at some point next decade.
It’s honestly ruined the sport to a degree.

The Nats won the World Series just three years ago. The Cubs did it six years ago, and the Giants eight years ago.

I guess I’m awful at explaining my point. But you just made it for me.
97 they “bought”, then traded everyone away for all the prospects that won it 6 years later, and then traded them all away and we have barely heard from them since!
I guess I think of success as more than a 1 off WS run. It was absolutely great to see the Cubs do what they did, a little early to I might add, in 2016, but it was a cliff dive after so it didn’t feel like “success” to me.
The Giants I was wrong about as they maintained for a stretch.
But I’m done with it as I really don’t care much about it right now.

One thing Ive learned about this board (and its predecessors) over the years is that there TRULY are some great ppl that post regularly up-in-here
I haven't met a ton of individuals fm this site but the ones i HAVE met fall into 2 categories :
a) Friendly/Eager/Enthusiastic fellow Cat fans that are AWESOME to attend games with ((etc)) -- hell, I would take on all of Knoxville and half of Gainsville with just 4-5 of these wonderful idiots
b) Genuine new friends that wind up either helping you alongside in life or vice versa - like it was strangely meant to happen -- INCREDIBLY grateful for those unnamed yahoos
I SUSPECT a third category exists - i call them/shem/dem/itstitties:
C) Nymphomaniac Ladies Seeking guitar lessons and elite Dungeons & Dragons DM to host sessions in cheap hotel ....cosplay
encouraged

So far, so good. Rome is great and a **** hole at the same time.
Hotel is walking distance to the Trevi fountain. Tons of cafes and restaurants line the streets on the walk over. Actually, from the hotel past the Trevi Fountain to the Pantheon then on to the Piazza Navona. Pretty awesome.
The restaurants have marketers in front shoving a menu in your face as you walk by. It's like bars in Vegas with people trying to lure you in.
So far I've been greeted in Spanish and Italian only. They think I'M a Spaniard or a WOP.
Guided tour of the Coleseum is the highlight of the trip thus far. It included an in depth showing of the Roman Forum, which I thought was as cool as the former.
Vatican tour today. While awesome, our guide over explained everything. 4 hours later we were done and I was looking for a drink.
I've been eating everything I haven't been for the last 4 months and have loved every bit of it. Pizza, Pasta, and Cannoli. Washing it down with some red.
Off to Positano in the morning.

My parents, sister and BIL drove to Maine and swung by Cooperstown on the way back. Dad just called me all excited, wearing a Reds shirt and said he went up to some officials and said he was here representing Peter Edward Rose. lol
