The only thing really missing from Stoops coaching career is taking an incoming freshman QB and turning him into a solid starter. The portal has def eased the pressure but kind of amazing some of the misses they have had at QB.

Granted I don’t follow football recruiting intensely, but how important is high school QB recruiting when the big dogs bring in multiple elite guys per class/two year span? Why not just lean on the portal as your primary strategy? Seems less risky.

Seems like it COULD eventually (soon?) turn into another JuCo type crap shoot too -

Obviously theyre not exactly the same since JuCo = "Kid Cant Read and Needed Extra Close
Help Getting Compliant" ---->>> and seemed like every 5-6th JuCo also had a rap sheet ....

BUT - well ****

Actually i think I just agree with you

And weve been VERY good w:transfers thus far -- its more like NFL free agency than JUCOs i guess

Or maybe selective service - ?

I don't follow recruiting all that closely either , WCC

Ohio State, Clemson, Bama, Georgia, Texas, etc are legit bringing in multiple blue chip Top 10 QBs every 2-3 years, many times in the same class.

It’s a bit of a crapshoot but I’d argue it’s much higher upside for Kentucky.

No more white quarterbacks (he/him) from Kentucky, specifically Northern Kentucky and/or Lexington, would be a good start.

All nice kids, but not sure lighting up Bourbon County on Friday night is the prerequisite for SEC play our staff seems to believe it is.
I've got some bad news for you.

Of course you might be happy to know that many people believe he ends up at Bama or Clempson.

So what do we think the margin of teams looks like in terms of programs who can now TRULY take advantage of the NIL framework & assign available resources to secure players who can then transform a GOOD program -- into a National Title Contender?

Texas A&M was the program that immediately seemed to jump out as one that could go from Good to Great

Notre Dame should be able to be consistently better I would think

Maybe a couple of Big Ten Teams?

Normally I would think THIS is how UCLA , USC and maybe Washington become PowerHouses -- BUT...:I seriously think their glory days are done & they lack the Will to pursue that identity and manage the supply chain of boosters/donors etc

Texas , Miami & Nebraska are traditional powerhouses that haven't sniffed a Nations Title in a while --

Any dark horses that may suddenly become an occasional challenger for that 4th playoff spot like Cincy just did?

Was engrossed in a lengthy, delirious conversation in the lounge at Ratternman's funeral home earlier this week, taking a break during my grandmother's visitation (which was 8 hours- and we estimated well north of 500 people coming through)- and amidst the stories people were sharing- my uncle mentioned "he never saw mom (grandma) so mad as she was when dad let us keep that pony..."

I had assumed that I had heard all of the stories they had over the years- but this was new to me. Apparently one summer at a Louisville Colonels baseball game- they had a bunch of giveaways- everything from baseballs, concession food, etc- and for some reason the grand prize was a pony. A GD living pony. And when they called out a seat number- my uncle- who was like 10 at the time- won it. A phone call was made from my grandpa- who had taken the kids to the game- to my grandma- who left zero doubt that this pony was not going to be kept. And this pony was at the ball park. Like in the outfield foul territory. So my grandpa got a guy to haul it to where they had some farm land outside of shively and they ended keeping it for awhile... paying for its food, and whatever else. Its final day came when it went bonkers and kicked the **** out a few cows and bit a signifigant amount off flesh from my uncles arm. Then it was just gone and none of the kids know for sure what happened. But i assume one of my grandmas brothers got the call to come shoot it- something she wanted done on day 1.

My grandma was awesome- she was also 1 of 10 kids, only like 13-14 years apart from oldest to youngest. She had a sister that was a nun, and her brothers were:
Patty
Tony
Donnie
Denny
Bobby
Timmy
and Emmett

Also the Louisville Colonels threads were absolutely perfect.

Kid is from LaRue County so maybe he doesn’t totally fit the criteria. Transferred this summer.

His dad, Scott Boley, played for LaRue in the late 80s and took them to the Sweet 16. Went to Western and not sure what happened after that.

The kid is legit. Unreal athlete. 6’5 220 as a reclass Frosh. Could get bigger. Really good basketball player with a D1 frame. No clue about his football prowess but I’ve heard UK has been after him for a year and a half. Wanna keep him close to campus I guess.

He's getting recognized as one of the top overall prospects for his class. Bama has said he has an offer, many people in the recruiting circles think he will commit to Clempson when they offer.

More like Boley Cut, AMIRITE?!?

JFC - he looks like Kristie McNichol with that mop
Most the kids at the gym these days are what’s known as broccoli heads… lotta people in this thread really get upset about childrens/young adults’ haircuts, kind of weird if you ask me.

-Kristie McNichol was eye candy for lil' rudd1 in little darlings*,...also she was quite chilly most of the time, iirc.

*edit...Tatum O'Neal was better.

She had this weird wobble when she walked didn't she?

Like she should be using those metal arm crutches or perhaps was wearing "corrective shoes"

I DO remember thinking it was pretty cool that someone with special needs was allowed to be on The Love Boat with regular folks like -- Gopher and that brother with the sideburns (Isaac?)

Didn't have a young TV crush until :

The Facts of Life (The Blonde)
and
Family Ties (Mallory? the older sister w/dark haired....and the lean athletic body.:..bedroom eyes ..:.probably a Doobie in her pocket.....but
not a whole bag -- cause she was ALSO -- SUCH A GOOD GIRL)

Boley should have transferred to X or Trinity. LCA is a great 2A team but the competition is not much until the late playoffs. But I guess if you already have the big Boys after you it doesn’t matter. 🤷

- Speaking of Oy Vey, I was searching for brunch options for after I weigh in for a meet next week. There’s a kosher Jewish deli/bakery called Oy Vey…

…in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Indiana is the most Gentile place I’ve ever been in my life. I am pleasantly surprised and I will be visiting just so someone understands me when I use Yiddish words sometimes. Fakakta. Meshuggah. Schvitz.

(Not a member of the Tribe, like Willy, just grew up in metro DC and Yiddish words are fun as hell.)

- speaking of you friggin weirdos who didn’t drink coffee your entire lives, I was all set to pop off and call you a bunch of losers with weak *** caffeine tolerance. Then I remembered I have a neurocognitive disorder that means I require prescription amphetamines just to feel sort of conscious and I drink half a pot of coffee a day and still feel sleepy, so my perception is skewed. And I’ve never consumed marijuana in any form (or CBD), which is definitely weird in 2022. So cheers to your weird, I guess

- top 4 tastiest coffees you can buy easily without breaking the bank or worrying the beans were pooped from an Amazonian cat:

1. Deathwish
2. Gregory’s (I would do terrible things to get a franchise in greater Cincy. Someone with too much money, pls)
3. Intelligentsia
4. Black Rifle (Just Black, CAF and AK-47 are my favorites)

- I love a lot of things about NKY. But outside of the late great JLo, the QBs from this region can kindly get pumped or just go to some squad that isn’t UK. Remember Drew Barker, lol.

- Yesterday I listened to a podcast about Jason Kidd (Crime in Sports). How in the hell did I forget about that ridiculous kiss-blowing to his wife from the foul line? God he was insufferable. I also somehow forgot he punched his wife with a damn yogurt. Apparently, he is a Phoenix legend for somehow being a bigger ***** hound than Barkley. Sounds like Kidd rivaled Steve McNair in that department.

You mentioned J-Lo & New York -- about 5 or so years ago she and Derek Jeter heard about some of the struggles of the kids/families down the road fm where I grew up -- they donated a ton of food and supplies to help make sure the kids would eat well at the school (Jacksboro, TN I think it was) -- and didn't seek any photo ops or praise or anything

You just don't hear about anyone doing something like that very often for that region --

Every single New Yorker I met in the AF was a damn riot, man --
I honestly think it was as strange & wonderful for them to meet me as it was for me to meet them -- like someone fm another country .......

I quickly learned that my buddy Billy Hirschfield fm Long Island wasn't at all like my roommate Rich from Buffalo -- and somehow -- just as predictably .... almost every single New Jersey person ........ oh man

Maybe I just got a bad batch of New Jersey ppl but they were not like the NY ppl

Finally - here are some links to a banned chemical weapon called "BZ" (NATO Designator) or "The Buzz: (US Army Q Code EA2277):

Wikipedia Link to Quinuclidinyl Benzilate

National Library of Medicine Link - Includes Some Test History

This agent was developed in the 1950s and tested (60s) on US Army volunteers - as a chemical weapon it fit into the incapacitating category

Effects included transient hallucinations, confusion, mental lapses possible outbursts of fear and anger (at higher concentrations) -- the effects could last anywhere. from 4 hours up to 5 DAYS

It was initially planned to be used as a Crowd Control measure - and if you've seen the movie "Jacobs Ladder" --- that's what they were portraying

it is UNDETECTABLE in the air around you and can easily be sprayed from helicopters or drones (if they had them back then I mean)

Tests performed on US Personnel in 1967 were LITERALLY called -- PROJECT DORK

Yeah, you never know how things go down. Maybe there was a search for a promised starting spot, I know he's a stud, but some schools would never promise even if they knew he would end up starter. Some would tell him not to come as to not upset the apple cart. X and Trinity are a whole nother world so maybe he is afraid of competition.

Similar vein, NKY QB from Ryle, Morgan now starter at U of Minnesota for his 10th year I think, story I heard was he was not going to start for 1st 2 years, as freshman or sophomore, because Ryle already had a kid. Dad shopped him to some NKY schools, was told could not transfer to any other Boone County school, and other schools would not promise a starting job. He ended up at Hazard for 2 years before coming back and starting at Ryle last 2 years.

Boley has that Randall "Pink" Floyd Dazed and Confused vibe. Let's hope he signs that pledge, to Kentucky.

I’m a Yankee hater but I’ve never had any ill will toward Jeter. The dude was clutch, a winner and a great teammate. He’s seemingly a normal well-adjusted guy too. I can’t think of any superstar athlete who’s handled fame better than he has.
