If Toppin doesn’t turn into an nba player it’s his own fault, he’s got every tool you need. I think he takes a big step forward this year… he seems to be a kid who knows his role and plays to it (to a fault at times), meaning if he’s a starter and expected to be a leader and significant contributor, he will.

We are legitimately a preseason #1 team by some national prognosticators- but the know-it-all blowhards want to **** on us for sharing highlights.
Took my sons to the Cal Father-Son Camp last weekend for the 3rd time and it was great once again minus my proving to my boys that any ounce of ability I once had had at basketball has long since gone bye bye.

Crowd was significantly smaller than any of the other years I had gone. I can only theorize why, but it was notable.

Didn't see the players do much other than goof around with the kids, but I can sense that Toppin and Ware are important players on that roster in terms of team chemistry.

We had broken up into smaller groups and had a turn to tour Cal's office at the Craft Center (1st time they've let that happen). Cal actually happened to be in the office and ended up talking to us for 30 minutes and asking us for questions. No matter how pissed I get at the guy, he does have an amazing ability to engage a crowd in that setting. He talked about a bunch of stuff about last season's end, but nothing new. He did say that Cason Wallace is better than he expected and that Reeves should make a instant impact. He talked about CJ being maybe the best shooter in college basketball, but you can tell he still is worried about keeping him healthy.

This team will be enjoyable to watch next season. There is no reason they shouldn't be considering who they have returning and have added. I'm far more worried about our ****** injury luck than I am about having actual holes in our roster for next season. The bad thing is that we will worry about them backing it up in the post season the entire year.

We’re beyond due for good injury/tournament luck.

I agree with you that we are due some injury luck but we had tremendous tournament luck in 2018, 2019, and you could even argue this year with Baylor going out early.

By luck, I mean a shot going down/rimming out being the difference in a win/loss. Seems they’ve been going against us the last 7 years.

Last two years were a joke - no doubt.

-the same national prognosticators that had us as a high 2 seed/champ contender in the tournament this past season?

-im by nature an optimistic man. And I *truly* hope yalls optimism is a harbinger...hell I'm optimistic that we'll be a good team this year.

^that said until Cal shows me something in March/April I'm not gonna get *too* exited.

-this happens every year (for that last while at least). "***** bus"/ chastising the Cal skeptics...and then at the end when the skeptics are proven right it quiets down for a few months...and then back at it.

^sooooo predictable. Bright side*: makes for good gyero content.

*see, I'm an optimist...lemons/lemonade.

I believe over time you create your own luck. We haven’t been to Final Four in 7 years. There’s a trend here.

Kind of like with Tubby the last few years. IF Bogans doesn’t get hurt. IF we didn’t lay an egg against UAB. IF Chuck Hayes didn’t graduate with his 5th foul in 05.

Screaming like a maniac with your hair on fire and annually letting your butthole tighten up when the calendar hits March 1 has nothing to do luck.

We’re Kentucky fans. It’s show me time. Show me you can let your players play on offense without reverting to what your comfortable with shortening the game and playing super conservative. Show me
you can get this program back to the Final Four on a consistent basis.

Posted a few things KY basketball on our GYERO/Bourbon bros thread and got crickets. SAD.

Not very many people have given Cal as much **** as I over the years, but I'm still excited to see our players on the floor and the eventual finished product. (The first few months of free-flowing, beautiful basketball last season gives me hope). We indeed have had horrible luck relating to injuries. Howeva, hope springs eternal.

Cal will be Cal. I know this. I'm already prepping myself for it. But I'm hoping the Jimmys and Joes are enough to overcome his micromanaging, the other guys constantly outscheming us, and all the plain bad 50/50's that haven't gone our way.

There's a lot to like. I'll choose to focus on that until it's time not to, based on reasons I'm willing to discuss on here.

THANKS!

Hold up - so you can separate sports/politics? Hmm.

Of all the annoying things about “Millennial Sportswriter” these arrogant bastards thinking they- and not their job- were the reasons for their large followings is #1.

We’re following you because you write about the Wildcats not because we give a **** about your thoughts on anything else.

SAE is a “babe” guy now, I see.

Worth noting both have been directed at me. 😊

-This new re-engaged Rory is cool to see. He's been the best ambassador for Golf for awhile now, but the Guy hasn't given AF about actually winning in years, which is super annoying for someone of his overall talent (which is probably still #1 in golf, currently)

This LIV **** has him really pissed off - been a quote machine the last few weeks.

-Tomorrow I will have maxed out my 401K contribution for the year. Damn!

-Been talking with my sisters in Jacksonville since we got back, and coincidentally also had a traveling PM land a local job in Lakeland FL where he wants me to be their go to now for multiple apartment complexes upcoming. Read the damn signs krazy!

- Asked what it took to be parasail captains and our guides told my nephew to watch this training video of them cutting their own line from their boat for emergency training:

- Watched hockey for the first time possibly in my life last night. Sport needs more fights IMO.

- Tomorrow begins Down Homes journey into TN. Indiana is next.

-Turns out, "if you don't like it, you're blocked or unfollow me" isn't a great business model. Who would've thought?

-Rory is playing some great golf these days. He's going to eventually get another one, if not a couple. Just think back to 2014 when he was going to catch Tiger...

-I like the talent on the team. I don't trust the lineups and how they compliment each other just yet. Obviously, shooting is a major concern.

-We had IU, KSU, AU(we beat twice and w/out their best player) and St Peters. It's not luck. The UNC draw was a tough one, that's about it in the last 6 years.

-The main thing is having a key contributor be a complete *****. Skal, Green/Vanderbilt, Hagans, probably Sharpe. Injuries happen. Pussies are BS and a product of taking ? marks because Duke is eating our lunch on the trail.

-Hasn't SAE been saying "babe" for a long time? I prefer "pal".

-Re: intermittent fasting. Not sure how much effect it has any more but I've never been a breakfast guy. I'll have a good one every now and then but feel like it slows me down in the morning. Large coffee gets finished around 10:30, yogurt and banana shortly after. Super easy to work in. I'll go to 12-1p occasionally without any hunger issues. Cutting week day starches and carbs is also really easy to work in with big results. F*ck off, tommy.

-78 on Saturday and 80 Sunday. Better get out and enjoy it. Triple digits mid to late next week. Has to be the hottest run in June I can recall.

-I'm "enjoys a good live cam" years old. #KL

Ahhh yes, luck, the invisible uncontrollable force that decides who’s successful or not. Amazing how it works. I’d say about the only thing that was truly unlucky was cancelling the 2020 tournament when we had a team with great guard play.

My place of work has banned the use of babe and hunnie, and that was by me, because I hate it.

PTI(pti) has always been HOSS, male or female -- which I always enjoyed, especially when he'd post "Happy Birthday Hoss" on a girl's Facebook. 🤣

-elb for the win.

Had a huge falling out earlier this year with one of my oldest, best friends for reasons I don't care to go into here. It's sad and depresses me. But, I did get to tell him to lose my number, which was satisfying.

This standoff may go on for decades, or one of us may have enough grace to reach out with an olive branch. Neither of us are anywhere close to that for the time being. Oh well. Point is, I should have called him something worse, I guess. Missed opportunity.

* Dow down another 2.5% today. Seriously, am I gonna have to come out of pocket to settle up my IRA or what?

* Sometimes I feel like my lass lives on another planet. We pulled into a gas station yesterday to fill up at $4.49/gallon.

her = "omg don't fill up here! wait and let's go somewhere else. this is really expensive."

🤣

Lol. I had so many great/smartass comments, but I just settled for a blank stare and a "it's fine."

* I like Jacob Toppin just fine, but he can't create his own shot, he can't shoot, and he can't handle the rock. Despite having freak athleticism, he's a 5 ppg career scorer. Bret Bearup averaged 3, fwiw. Kinda tired of the guy having the "most upside on the team."

* Between Mommy Doomsday (Lori Vallow/Chad Daybell), Keep Sweet: Prey and Obey (Warren Jeffs/FLDS), and Under the Banner of Heaven (Netflix/Krakauer), I'm really beginning to question these "We need more God in our schools" memes I see from some of my relatives on social media.

* Who's gonna be SAE's color guy? Gus Jacobs?

* Hoss.

Tried and true since the mid-90s for this homeboy.

* Legit thought it was "elb" until I was probably 35.

* I hate the condescending "get woke, go broke" nonsense, but one of my local coffee shops is closing this week -- and that kind of describes it to a T. This place was without question the most hardcore COVID-phobic joint in town. No indoor seating, masks/vaxx cards required. 1-in, 1-out. Closed down 1 of the 2 doors. To go service only. Big clear screens everywhere. 6 feet dots and signage. Face shields and double masks. Limited food menu. Disenfectant and sanitizer and every other ridiculous, useless mitigation strategy imagineable.

I mean, wtf did these people think would happen? It was basically impossible to do business with them for 2 years.

* Throwback jerseys need to make a comeback. Is the statute of limitations up yet? Can 40-something white guys pull these off nowadays? Need answers quick, please.

Like I said before, this is entirely understandable. It's easy to see why many have the same outlook/approach.

I just don't get the hate towards those who show optimism as if they have zero reason for hope. I know you were just kidding with your comments, but there are plenty about who act like people are Simple Jacks because they're excited about the season.

I mean, White Wayne still posts here, so you can't really hide from each other.

Rooting for you, babe.
