That's what draft deferments are for.

I ended up in the Air Force after the University Dean expelled me, and told the military that I was now eligible for military service.
College reunion a few years back, the 50 year class refused the dinner with the President. They are still ticked off they reported those who flunked out to their draft boards and sent them to Vietnam.

My papaw signed on for WWII as a 16-year-old. I’m guessing he was one of many that had suspect paperwork.

My Grandpa told me he and his younger brother both went to sign up together (he was 17, bro 16) because they thought being in the army would be easier than how hard their dad was working them on the farm in Letcher Co.

When they were asked their birthdays they both had figured out what year it needed to be to make them old enough but kept the day/month of their actual birthday, which would make them about 4 months apart. He said the recruiter looked at both them then just nodded and wrote it down.

Eh, ya'll are overboard w/ this Sharpe stuff, imo. It was a ridiculous situation, and beyond maddening -- but most of the blame isn't on the kid.

I don't wish him ill will, but I also don't give AF about him -- ya'll spend way too much time obsessing over this kid...he's gone.

I'll probably forgive him completely once he gives Richie the wink & gun and tells him he'll always be a wildcat like all the other players do.

I wish the kid well but don’t really care about his situation. Here’s my current stance on all things Kentucky Basketball right now…

Get back to consistently making Final Fours and everything else will take care of itself. You knock on that door enough eventually you’ll knock it down and hang another banner. I’m in total wait and see mode with the entire program. Apathy has really set in with me for the first time since Tubby’s last few years.

I don’t want to hear about practice facilities, assistant coaching hires, the new strength coach, a new dormitory, Oscar shooting more outside shots, or frankly, anything else right now related to the basketball program . It’s all ancillary ******** until this program is back where it needs to be on a consistent basis.

Sure, I’ll watch every game next season but I’m not getting emotionally attached relative to how I used to be until we see the results . Cal starts getting this program back to playing in that final weekend and all of this other ancillary crap we’ve been bickering about goes away and works itself out. Recruiting, facilities, etc, etc. Final Four is the bar. Always has been at Kentucky. Maybe not every year but the program better achieve that at least once every 4 years to stay on top.

Tubby went 9 years without a Final Four appearance. Cal is currently at 7 going into what could be year 8. This up coming season will be fascinating from that perspective and deep down he knows it.

Based on the tea leaves people are putting out there I'm guessing it's school related.

No clue, but Matt and Kyle have said it's not related to the DUI, doesn't make him a bad person, and was completely preventable.

When you tour Western Europe do yourself a favor and buy a Maple Leaf Hat before you leave, and wear it.

(kidding of course. Take every opportunity to let that Euro-trash know their place. If you're at a cafe, gasthaus etc. wait until you're ready to leave before you do that, because believe me, they DON"T have any compunction about spitting in your food/beer etc.)

Kid did her first “kid’s fun run”, a 1 miler on the beach tonight. Wife did it with her. She did about the first .6 mi on her own and then rode on wife’s back for next bit before running the last bit over the finish line. Got her first ribbon and an orange freezer pop. She ate it but promptly told the lady that “orange sucks”.

Top 5 Popsicles:

1. Red
2. Fudgesicle
3. Bomb Pops
4. Dole fruit pops
5. Orange

Worst “Popsicle”

* Fla-Vor-Ice: it’s essentially frozen syrup with plastic all around it. The worst.
