Here is what ENG has taken from UK.

- scholarship (technically a walk on for 2 years but you know he didn’t pay for anything) for 3 years.

-the ability to redshirt his last year while we were playing with 7 so he could go somewhere else and still have 2 years eligibility.

- a graduate asst position (I guess I’m ok with this one as he aspires to coach and this is an entry level job).

- now a FT asst position where we prob have hundreds of more qualified candidates that would kill to get the spot. Seriously, go earn your stripes somewhere else at a lower school.

Compare that to what he has given to the program and there isn’t another person EVER associated with the program who has taken more, given less. Completely laughable he tattooed “earned not given” across his chest. His life is 100% opposite of what he sees everyday in the mirror.

I didn’t like Cal hiring his old crony friends to come in and be asst coaches but at least they were coaches. This would be a laughable hire and I hope he hears this before it becomes official.

It'll be an awful hire but they all do it. Steven Pearl is the only reason I wouldn't want Bruce here.

Here's who Cal SHOULD hire if he wants to keep it in the family....Dana Dingle.

Played for him at UMass on that '96 team, and is now co-director of the New York Lightning AAU program. They've produced Chris Duarte, the Ziegler kid from UT, Posh Alexander from St. John's, and their best prospect at the moment, Elliot Cadeau, is already being looked at by Kentucky for '24.

An actual, you know, COACH, who probably has AAU connections nationwide and can help shore up Kentucky's recruiting in the Northeast. This is the kind of hire "past Cal" would have made, instead of just lazily moving Brad into that spot.

Again, I'm not saying I'd hire Dana Dingle above everyone else out there. Just saying that if Cal wants familiarity in that spot, that's the hire I'd rather see him make than some retread head coach or his own son, who hasn't proven anything.

I hope the Huber and Harris collective can keep up with this type of deal:

That's not what we are going for at all. Some of these "collectives" are going to cause some serious harm to their universities at some point because what they are doing in just filtering cash to students, especially the ones that are setup as a 501C3 and claim to do charitable work.

Yes, we will use student athletes NIL and they will be compensated for their services, advertising, event appearances, etc, but our main mission is to utilize them to raise money for statewide non-profits. Our group wants everything we do to be a win win for the student athlete, for the University of Kentucky, and for nonprofits that provide much needed services to the people of Kentucky. As our organization grows, the money to statewide nonprofits grow, and the compensation to student athletes grow. We have some large donors that are ready to work with us, but every donation, no matter the size, will be needed to turn this into what we want it to be. Truly, what more could you want out of all of this NIL craziness than what we are going to do?

I believe we are in the final turn of getting everything complete with UK and then we will be able to announce our first deal. And it will be a big one. Stay tuned.

Lastly, if you're a business owner looking to do NIL advertising deals for your company, that's not what we do. I'd be happy to refer you to some other companies that are for profit and do those kind of deals directly with the student athletes they represent.

Was a nice little tourism/visitors board special weather weekend in Louisville.

My grandmother has taken a bit of a downward turn to the point where we finally had to make the call last week and have her in palliative care facility. We wanted her to be able to meet our daughter so we made the ride up. 7 hour drive with an 11 week old- actually went fine.

My grandmother called her hair lady in to come fix her up because she wanted to look nice too meet the little one- i about lost it when I heard she went to that trouble. She sat in her lap and visited for a couple of hours, just talking away. The rest of us may as well not even been in the room.

Got to have dinner and drinks with Bonzo and a few others Saturday night. Porcini's always delivers, imo. It wont unseat Jack Fry's, but its always a great time there.

My dad got one of those blackstone griddles Saturday- I cooked breakfast on it Sunday morning- was a nice little change up. Pretty cool. I'm in the market for a mid-range/nicer gas grill. Loved the egg for a decade or so but di need something that is faster and more convenient. Assume Weber is the play.

My wife commeneted "it just seems like a bit of overkill for fireworks" and while I told her that she needs to chill and she just doesnt understand the Derby Festival- she's probably spot on. Its just fireworks.

I work with some pretty hardened and unhappy people on the admin side of public higher education- so cliche greetings and phrases are an absolute no-go around here. "Good morning" and "Have a good night, bud" are about as much as we are gonna get. Fine by me. Occasionally you'll hear a "How was your lunch" and thats fine too.

Got our pre-daycare invoice for what the cost breakdown is gonna be. $1250/month is the going rate per kid these days. So there was literally about 2 months between when I finally got finished with student loans, and then childcare began. So much for getting a little bit ahead

- Much needed

- 27 holes of golf between Friday night and Saturday morning. Woke up with tennis elbow for the first time in my life. Absolute ***** of a nagging ailment. Tips from you divot-heads to avoid?

- Welcome back, @thejjackie, your stories have been missed by all.

- Porcini, Seviche, Jack Fry's. Shake them up in a bag and toss them out there, the bees knees of River City dining.

- Oscar and Wheeler returning. The rest is noise. I'd be fine not hearing a peep about our basketball program until October and hopefully by then my flash-like memory will have purged the anger of this past season.

- Not the perfect analogy, but this is the first thing that always comes to mind when I think about how NIL deals benefit the business:

Controversial take on Jack Fry's... while the food you get is obviously the same. If you're not in the main room of that place it's like you're on the JV team. Just ruins the experience.
