What are you dining on tonight, Kook?

I’ll be honest, I usually love Old Fo stuff, but the 1910 bottle I picked up today tastes like dog ****. Don’t even know what they were trying for. If I want alligator char, Turkey sells it a lot cheaper, and a whole lot better executed.

The OGD 114 I grabbed is running circles around it. Such a reliable, always great pour. Maybe the best shelfer out there these days.

Catholic: Pasta w/ red marinara sauce. Basic *****. No fish. But over to my sisters tavern for some pours of Eagle Rare, NULU honey cask finished… and a cannoli.

tomorrow: GameStop has a limited release of PS5s. This is the quest I’m on. Check your local store if you need one.

my final piece of furniture arrived for the speakeasy. My basement project is done-done.

Watching some old Michael Jackson videos. I forget sometimes how great he was - king of pop, which was a well deserved and appropriate moniker. This ***** incredible.

Saw his Bad concert tour at Freedom Hall. No one, except maybe Freddie Mercury, could hold a crowd like that. The opening to Smooth Criminal was next level entertainment. No music. Just a spotlight on Michael in his white suit dancing. I’ll never forget it.

I’m not going to like it one bit and probably vomit in my mouth doing it but I’ll have to pull for Kansas over Duke/UNC. If Nova won it all again that’s fine I guess but they won’t. It’s a really bad situation all around, there’s no good way out of this.

I just watched the final quarter of the UCONN’s women’s game because I was basically held captive in a room waiting for some family to show up, and there are two things I realized I like about the women's game:
  1. Advancing the ball on a timeout like in the pros. I mean why not do that? Who wouldn't want to see what Cal could draw up if he could advance the ball with say 3 seconds left on the clock.
  2. The perceived extra space on the floor due to the women being slower and smaller than the guys. It's not as much of an issue as the pros as those dudes are so freaking good, but in college the guys are almost as big and quick as the pro guys, but not nearly as skilled. It will never happen, but an extra 6 feet of width of the court would open it up much more and make the game better.
I could see myself being wrong on that last one, but it would be interesting to see them pilot it somewhere.

Now I’m deep into UK-Louisville 2014 S16 stretch and SAE is right- I should STFU and never mention a bad word about Poythress ever again. I love that dude.
That weekend was awesome. The after party was insane.

The next day was fantastic. Walking the city with a rooster strut and talking **** to anyone willing to listen.

How long before that UK swimmer gets crushed by social media and the cottage industry of cancel culture?

How nice would it have been to hire Jay Wright after Gillispie? This NY Times article makes me feel like a Wildcat cuck.

Wright has instilled several ideals: emphasizing program players over individual stars, running an offensive system that features guards who can post up and shoot, placing team defense, rebounding and culture over personal branding. It is common for Villanova’s best players to be juniors, seniors or, as is the case this year with point guard Collin Gillespie and forward Jermaine Samuels, graduate students.

... Wright added: “And then there are only so many of those guys that are one-and-done that are capable of winning national championships.”
