Yet another work trip to the topographic hellhole that is the greater Cincinnati area. Feels more like vacation at the moment though. Two margs in at some white hipster taco joint in Mainstrasse. Sunny, breezy, doors are open. Grateful Dead playin. Wish I had eaten half a Wynn gummy before leaving the hotel. Might be developing a dependency on those things.

Basketball Cats are gonna have to earn my fandom back. I’ll still follow and watch out of habit but IDGAS. 2020-21 killed my off-season interest, as I thought Boston and Clarke were gonna run a train on college basketball and make a mixtape of it. BOY WAS I WRONG. 2021-22 killed my pre-March interest, as it clearly doesn’t matter how well your team is playing in January.

Final 4 be damned, it’s spring football season. That’s a sport where building towards something still seems to matter. Plus you just can’t beat a big Saturday night game at the Krog.

Anyone watch Upload on Amazon Prime? Solid watch, IMO.
I watched the first season and enjoyed it. Good concept.

I tore through the first 3 (and only, so far) seasons of Get Shorty and loved it. I'd been hesitant for a long time, because I didn't enjoy the movie very much, but the show, IMO, is outstanding.

Welp, guess old SAE is going to have to push back the basement stairs tragedy/retirement plan a few years. The lass and I have another little girl coming in October.

A complete surprise, of course, but a good one. I guess.

I had my son shortly after your first daughter was born and my daughter right before your son. Congratulations!

I'm not touching my wife now though.

Winds are gusting in Hardin.

I live on 14 acres, about 55% wooded.

Sitting on front porch listening to trees snap.

Always check the homeowners policy.

Shitting razorblades.

A strong enough wind can bring down 3 specific trees I know of that will take out the corner of my house, my pool and my barn with all my man **** in it.

I did buy a new chainsaw the other day though.

Stay safe out there....

Duke energy sent me a text congratulating me on the return of energy service around 7:30, only for the power to go out again 30 mins later. They then sent me another text saying power will be restored by 1 am. Stay safe out there everyone

  • Stomach bug took me out this week; I think I would rather have had COVID. Hit on a flight too, which is made for an interesting landing and taxi where I was doing everything in my power not to puke on the dude next to me.
  • Kelly Clarkson legally changed her name to Kelly Brianne, which was her middle name. Have you ever met someone who legally changed his/her name (excluding for marriage) who wasn't at least 50% lunatic?
  • The Oscars said they asked Will Smith to leave and he refused. Would have assumed they had some sort of security there.
  • Congrats to SAE and Mrs. SAE on the upcoming baby girl, but be warned, the third kid comes with certain challenges such as your family not fitting in hotel rooms or standard SUVs. I mean you can swing it for the first few years, but there will be a tipping point and you have to level up. My point is you might as well go for a 4th afterwards since you're going to have to procure that extra capacity anyway.
  • I just can't believe how this Final Four is playing out. I guess it could be worse. UCLA could have been in it instead of Nova, and UNC and Duke could be meeting in the finals, but that's literally the only way it could have gone worse.

- I don't get *not* wanting Wheeler back? SEC assist leader, no true Pg on the roster, and by all accounts a good dude.

Would have flipped my **** if we went after Curbelo.

- Glad to see Knight still getting paid. As underrated a player as we've had.

- Weird or whatever...Musselman is towards the top of my Cal replacement list. Dude can coach, recruit, and is hungry.

- Livingston gives me Poythress vibes.

- Looks like I'm getting a doggie. Another Pom.

- Need a good Sunday night show since Billions and Gemstones went off...Billions is a shell of what it was with Axe, but still better than 95% of what's out there.

That slap was staged, and nothing will change my mind about that.

In a complete coincidence, Pfizer was a sponsor of the Oscar's and has a new drug for alopecia about to hit the market. #tinfoilhat
Not sure about Pfizer, but I do wonder if "Willy D" searches increased.

I think Poythress’ biggest issue was attitude/drive/hunger, followed by ballhandling. I don’t think those issues will be there with Livingston but understand the comp. If Cal plays him at the 4, he’ll be a good ballplayer.

Miss me with the Poythress slander. His attitude and drive in question? He graduated in 3 years. Cal's first to go through Senior Day when starting as a freshman. ACL recovery to have a great senior year and is still playing professionally. Won us some big ballgames, notably the 2014 Sweet 16 game. His injury in 2015 is an all time "What if..." IMO. wcc has a bizarre metric system when it comes to player affinity.

I love Poythress. Never found him to be aggressive enough, though. I don’t see that as an issue with Livingston which was the conversation 🤷🏻

Why do you believe he never reached his potential? He was getting Top 5 talk his first semester in school.

That's cute.

Poythress was like Miller. He's fine, even great, but there were lots of smh moments with both of those low key players. Both obviously did wonderful things for us. Plus, I always claimed Poythress as a native because he was from Clarksville.

I'll blame Cal for all that. He's such a loudmouth jagoff who caters to certain players. Low key "nice" players like Alex or Darius, or even Kellen Grady kind of seemed this way, probably don't jive well with that grade A dumbass coach. The maniac will literally yell and scream if you take one wrong step on the court. F him I hope he quits this job so bad.

Our football cats man...I figured I'd kind of be used to this feeling by now, but I'm not. Every year is like Christmas. My favorite "gift" is hearing some of these names I forgot about, badass recruits that have been waiting their turn....OH YEA THAT'S THE 4* DUDE FROM SUCHNSUCH. Imagine having a real deal program where you sit in the weight room/film room/practice field for 2 years because even though you were a badass in HS, you ain't ready to play SEC football yet. So, Mark Stoops and Co turn you into a MAN and then you realize your dreams. It's just such a wholesome environment compared to whatever the hell our basketball program is.

Man maybe you're right but I have a hard time believing he was projected as a lottery pick his freshman year. I suppose he never developed an outside game and agree his ball handling was suspect which is why he wasn't drafted.

In this era I just tend to give kids that invest so much of themselves into the program some differential treatment, I guess. Right or wrong.

Poythress was as good of a kid as we've had...but also played a timid 'aloof' styled game - coupled with random explosions that left you wanting more.

A lot like Brooks in that regard, tbh - only Brooks is much more skilled overall. And I want Brooks back for all the same reasons I wanted Poythress around.

I do too. Just talking hoops. Poythress is one of the best dudes to come through here for sure.

Hard to question Morgan Newton's drive and passion for the game. The guy was 1st Team All-Sec Good Works Team, was Vice President of the Student Council, a dedicated member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, *and* skipped the Tennessee game his senior year to take the LSAT.

Finished his career with 966 points, 597 rebounds and 77 blocks, becoming just the 12th player in program history with at least 900 points, at least 500 rebounds and at least 70 blocks …

Morgan Newton, basically.
