Rupp will be half empty next season for most games. Record level apathy on its way.
I don’t even know how you rah rah the fan base goin forward after that. Like… he can’t congratulate Kenny Payne tomorrow publicly now without question. He’s just gotta shut up a while. He needs Tshiebwe and Sharpe to both come back somehow. I don’t even know if that’ll do it. UK fans seem like battered wives at this point.
He has got his staff back. Recruiting is back. I thought in order it was this year, then next year, then with the Wagner class I thought that was the undefeated team that could develop. I will not defend the guy but he’s got two great teams coming up in the next two years. If he can’t get it done then bye, bye. BUT, these next two years could be big time opportunities for us. So, while I think he’s a piece of dung I’m giving him 2 years. He’s underachieved in my mind but I’ve got 2 more years.
I’d consider this. Even shorten it to one year. Dude needs like a 36-4 Final Four minimum season next year if he stays. He has to realize this, right?
It’s the arrogance man…

*The arrogance of running the same offensive motion year after year with only a few changes (but under pressure always falling back on the old stuff).

*The arrogance of refusing modern basketball and preaching to us about it after mostly meaningless wins (when the rest of the basketball world is moving on).

*The arrogance of pissing away scoring opportunities with out of bounds plays because we apparently are too good for them (never mind a bucket here or there can mean the game).

*The arrogance of never mixing your defensive philosophy to change the tempo of a game, even if for a couple possessions (the irony of that doing us in tonight).

*The arrogance of mind effing a local hero that won games for you to prove a point to your fanbase (who you clearly despise at this point).

*The arrogance of recruiting a top 5 NBA pick, teasing the fanbase with his play and never doing it (despite him being in need).

*The arrogance of BS scheduling and crappy home games (what happened to anytime anywhere?)

*The arrogance of preaching to us about numerous irrelevant topics after regular season wins (we have plenty with you, way before you…and will after).

He isn’t changing and I’ve had enough.

Not sure I have any interest in raising my two boys to be hardcore sports fans. Who gives a **** who the next coach is. It’s not like he’s going to win 5 in a row. All it is is something that ends in horrific disappointment save once every 10 years if you’re lucky. Why put my kids through that? Why am I questioning my existence and purpose in life? F*ck this game I mean damn
These are sage words.

If I could go back in time, and change some things in my life, THAT would be one of them. I think of the time and worry I’ve wasted on this meaningless ****, and it makes me somewhat disappointed in “me”.

Wagner. 😂😂😂

Wagner is going to UL, and he and KP are gonna whip Cal’s fat stupid *** like a rented mule.

we fvcked up, and now the bill has come due.

It’s going to take YEARS of sucking to get rid of his bloated and stupid fvcking ***.

Better lube up, because the last two years are as good as it’s going to get.

San Fran coach went full Cal (after the Murray coach went Cal stall ball to cause the game to go OT) when he had a kid on fire and he didn't see the ball the final minute+.

And while I’m bitching. Somebody needs to start a new GYERO. This one started in 2015, and ushered in some of the worst fvcking basketball we’ve seen in a long time.

Trash this muther****er, and let’s start over.

**** this GYERO.
This is about the time I make my yearly post on that subject. It's stale.

*Get this one locked and somebody other than Anthony, to change the mojo, start a new one...I won't post in it until football starts. Carrot dangled.

I still can’t honestly believe we lost that game after being up 6 with under 4 to go. I could give 2 ***** about the rest of the tournament. KU gonna pass us. Cal will start preparing for the next season: “nba draft season” which will infuriate me to no end. We will prob have 3 first round picks, though they shouldn’t be which means we will have to relive this loss: “how the hell you lose to a 15 seed with 3 first rounders?”

I called for cal to be fired after the ND game to my close buddies. 1/2 of them said I was crazy, the other 1/2 were wait and see. I just didn’t think he was ever going to change his offense. I then ate crow for the next 4-6 wks of the season which I was glad to do so bc it looked like he did change.

He reverted back the last 3 weeks. As soon as the game ended, 2 of my buddies texted and said they were done with him too.

What are the next steps for us? How are we evolving to become better? I know Cal won’t be fired bc of his ridiculous contract but he has to change his offensive approach. And run a gd OOB play for crying out loud. Does he change the staff again? Would this even help if he did?

I’m so pissed.

My interest next year will be passive at best. Like last Tubby year passive.

Not fair weather, still a fan, but all the bravado and neurotic energy that comes with UK basketball died it’s last death last night so long as Cal is behind the wheel. It will take a change at the top or a F4 to resurrect it.

Who knows, maybe our team will win.

WHAT JUST HAPPENED RANDOMS:
  • That was the most embarrassing moment I've ever had as a UK fan. Saint Peter's is terrible. Dreadful. Kareem Watkins, Allen, Hopkins, Zan Payne, and Ware would have more talent.

    And we lost.

We lost in one of the Top 5 biggest upsets in NCAA Tournament history. We lost in the showcase game of the first day of the NCAA Tournament where we were supposed to be back after last year's disaster. We lost with our NPOY putting up one of the best stat lines in Kentucky NCAA Tournament history.

  • UK Athletics better start being a helluva lot more accommodating with Billy Joe Wildcat. We shouldn't have to deal with Barnhart and Calipari talking to the people who make them millions like the fans are idiot rubes. We shouldn't have checkerboards for a damn decade when everyone hates it. We shouldn't penalize season ticket holders with a home schedule that could not be less interesting.

  • On the postgame show, Matt referred to last night as an inflection point. I think that is absolutely correct. Everything changed last night. I'm not sure where we go from here.

Calipari is not going anywhere and it is pointless to suppose otherwise. The BBN is at best tired of Calipari's antics and is going to start being much, much more vocal with its attendance and participation.

I am not sure where the tension is going to take us. All it would take for everything to heal is a Final Four run after a regular season like we just had. But the BBN is not going to be fully satisfied until we see sustained March success. I'm sure that will conflict with Calipari.

I would say the NIL era is going to be bringing in a lot of soft pussies that have zero edge and think they're owed everything.

College basketball is dead. I will always be thankful I grew up in the 90s in the absolute peak of the sport, but this **** that JVC has trotted out since 2017 is absolute unwatchable trash, paired with the worst officiating in sports and this sport is done for.

I’m trying not to let this ruin my weekend. I’m trying very hard. I’m supposed to hang out with my buddy I haven’t seen in months and drink and gamble all day with my wife out of town. The perfect weekend. Just ruined. Completely ruined.

If you're going to Hollywood, hope they don't have $25 craps at 10am like they did last month when I went during the day

I feel like we've been in homeroom for 7 years and Cal just wheeled out the 32" box to play us the same movie while he's off nursing a hangover and placing online bets.

It wasn't long ago that it felt this way about football and we saw what can happen with a hungry, engaged, get up and grind **** out every day boss can do.

You can't just give someone everything and expect them to stay hungry. I know they should but that's isn't human nature. Cal has seemed to be content with the wins on draft day. It's his way of absolving himself of the failures on the court.

- As BBdK said, we looked like this for weeks now. I bought into excuses that when **** got serious, we'd rise to the occasion...too experienced, too much talent/scoring ability. Nope.

- With Cal's most experienced team he's had...we got carved the f*** up by the 260th offense in the country. Not even like they ran some weird offense that confused us, St. Peter's ran a basic offense that I played in middle school. No exaggeration.

- I was on the "don't mess with chemistry" side, but when Tyty and Wheeler went down...Sharpe should have been thrown in. No argument. Complete BS we didn't.

- We have the NPOY, SEC assist leader, SEC 3pt% leader, and a lottery pick...how you make our offense look that complete f***ing stagnant with all of that is f***ing mind boggling. We had every single piece to at least make a run.

- Tyty looked like a top 10, high floor draft pick a few weeks ago, breaking John Wall's assist record...I wouldn't risk a first round pick on him right now.

- Grady went from the most confident I've ever been in a shooter, to a complete terrified shell of himself. Bogans had more confidence in his shot junior year than Grady had this past month.

- Wheeler went from a quick, ball hawk, assist machine...to a complete spaz.

- If one of the above happens, sucks, but whatever...sometimes players get the yips. Every single one of them though? That's coaching.

- Are UK fans demanding? Yeah, compared to 99% of programs. But we don't demand titles every year, we want to be in the conversation...and we can begrudgingly swallow years like last year and 2013, if it means upcoming or recent success. This is ******** though.

- "Wish I had answers for the last three minutes." Hey, motherf***er, you're the highest paid coach in the country to have the ******* answers.

"Tommy, your candidate was up 20% in the polls and you lost."

"Wish I had the answers the last three days of the campaign."

"Well, you can GTFO."

- 2015 took a part of my soul. Completely crushed in a manor that still haven't fully gotten over. This ****? Pure rage.

It ruined mine. Already canceled on the weekend trip to Ceasers.

I guess I'll scour the internet looking to see if JVC sells unused TO's online.

There was a play I think in the 1st half when Grady fed it to Ware which drew Grady's defender to Ware. Instead of just..IDK...kicking it back out for a wide open look, Ware tries some move against a double team that he predictably f'd up and we got nothing.

I can't get too down on Grady. He has probably suffered more than the rest minus Oscar. His coach didn't run plays for him. Brooks became a black hole, Wheeler forgot the extra pass, TyTy wasn't ready for the bright lights, Ware isn't ready to move up from 10th man to 9th, Toppin is better than Brooks and Oscar isn't a miracle worker that can hide all these flaws.

Cal got outcoached by a guy that looks like he just got hired away from Footlocker.

And yeah, Cal is basically unfireable...but the condescension him and his family have had for BBNs gripes the last couple years is f***ing ridiculous.

You didn't make us, we legitimized you.

You want to be the top story on Sportscenter every night? Want to be on national TV 40 times a year? Want to go on any national radio show in the offseason to hear yourself speak?

That's because of us. Your sideshow at Memphis and UMass didn't provide you ****, despite being contenders on a semi-regular basis.

Take your ******** and get pumped. You needed us more than we needed you.

It was mutually beneficial for a bit...but don't bite the hand that feeds you, motherf***er.

We brick 100 threes against WVU, Harrison dribbles the ball off his leg three straight times, loss to a 15 seed I did not know existed with possibly our best big of all time. Where does it go from here? The only satisfying answer is a final four next year but its not coming. My fear is that this lingers for 2-3 years and its an ugly ending while we dream of what could have been with some simple effing coaching adjustments. I am in a bad place, I kept my head down all winter looking forward to this, planned trips etc. Rationally, this much emotional equity should not be leveraged into a basketball team but it is for me and it sucks today, bad.
