So guess Iowa is the hot pick in the Midwest? Getting a lot of love from the TV heads tonight. A few have them in F4.

I liked the one hen making a point to gripe about Rob Harris getting within six feet of her without a mask.

* Is there a surer pick than Virginia Tech over Texas? Zero chance the Fightin' Askews can beat the ACC Tournament winner.

Iowa State over LSU is close to a lock, too.

* I could talk myself into a Final Four with 3 SEC squads. As stated by esteemed college basketballs earlier, Tennessee might have the easiest path to the Final Four of any top 4 seed.

It’s always cracked me up that lil man was our S&C coach. He sucks at his job, too. I’ve always wondered why/how he keeps his job.

-Worst 2 weeks of basketball for the Cats in months. Regroup and let's f*cking go.

-Actually love our draw, especially when looking at Duke, Nova and Auburn's paths.

-I'm just glad #1 the West is finally a tough draw and #2 Duke got placed in it. Hell, Duke could see MSU, Texas Tech, Zags to get to the F4. Yesh.

-We've been to Champions like 10 Xs this year and I haven't seen FrakenBrax once. I figured his mashers had residency there. Hopefully this spastic weather will allow a few days outside.

-Elon just challenged Putin to a 1 on 1 fight for Ukraine. I think I'd take Putin there unless Elon has figured out how to download fighting styles into his brain, Matrix style. Which is possible.

-Nims Purja, 14 Peaks badass, is on Rogan this week. That guy is a character.

-Why is VT a sure bet over Texas?

-Youth sports, man. Silly to act like that. Cal is way too loyal to fire the guy though. He does need to chill, little man also pushed a player in the UT game. We shouldn't even know the guy's name.

It’s not a sure pick at all. Texas is a very good defensive team. Top ten in scoring defense and defensive efficiency.

You know what is sure though, the committee not paying a bit of attention to the SEC tournament. I mean kinda agree with Cal now , F it what’s it matter, really.

- Fine with our bracket...was hoping for Chicago but whatever. Told a buddy that after years of screw jobs and slights that just seeing a fair bracket (not only for us but for all regions) was a nice sight.

- Thought moving Nova up to a 2 was a genius move by the committee. This meant instead of being a 3 in Philly putting a 2 seed at a disadvantage they are now a 2 but in the south.

- Still feel the West is the toughest bracket and the Midwest/East is the easiest but overall, great balance between all 4.

- Took a look at all the 7, 8, 9, and 10 seeds to see who else we could have potentially got in 2nd round had it been a bit different. To get 2 teams from non-P5 conf and 1 from a 1 bid league is a break. Still would have liked to root for Murray but now they are just collateral damage. If we can't beat Murray/San Francisco, we were never going to make it.

- Watched the selections with a Michigan St fan. When he saw they had a potential rd2 matchup with Duke, he was happy as hell. He said (and I agree) they were the weakest top2 seed and he wanted to end the coach K nightmare. His other take-a-way was that Michigan got an easy draw (he hates them as much as we hate Louisville). I had to inform him that Tennessee was a legit F4 team and there was no way Michigan was going to beat them.

- Feel like the SEC has a chance to do some major damage in this tourney which means that 3 of them will prob lose first round.

- I like our draw overall. Felt all along we were getting a big10 team in S16. I'll be honest, I haven't seen Baylor at all this year but at that point, you get who you get.

- #9!

- Fire it up -> Come On and Watch Some Basketball!

- Early leans :

Wisky out in the 2nd round.
Spartans one-and-done.
All this talk of Carolina knocking out Baylor is overlooking the part of the equation where Marquette clips the Heels.
Carefree weekend for the Cats, similar the '10 drubbings East Tennessee and Wake.

- Television dictates everything and they need content for Selection Sunday, rationale be damned. So we're stuck there unless Cal can convince Sankey that playing Sunday somehow impacts the upcoming football season.

- I'll listen to amending Article II of the Constitution to allow non-US born citizen to hold the highest office *if* they defeat a Communist leader in a Steel Cage match.

- Flipped on ESPN Louisville and instead of catching bracket talk, The Sheriff was going on about Davis and Bam allegedly being paid to suit up here. Cheshire cat grin quickly formed at the thought of little brother still in the midsts of bargaining and denial while the rest of the college basketball world is enjoying their sports Christmas.

- Two year drought from the tournament should have BBN ready to overrun Indy. Gonna be a glorious site

- Duke won't get to the Zags.

- Gonzaga, Villanova, Kansas, Cats.

- Second round matchups I want to see...Duren vs. Chet, Hurley vs. Muss, Bama vs. Tech.

- Georgia whiffed on a coaching hire about as badly as I can remember. Not saying it's an elite job, but they have the money, the recruiting base, and the impetus to swing the pendulum completely away from the stink of the Crean Era. They had good candidates in Jonas Hayes, Dennis Gates, etc. And they pull a guy who couldn't win steadily at Florida. I honestly cannot think of one singular good reason for this hire. I would have understood if Ole Miss had moved on from Kermit Davis and brought White back to his alma mater. But what has Mike White done to prove that he can recruit/win at Georgia? Baffling.

- The Athletic is musing about Sean Miller to Florida. I don't see it. I think they go with Gates, and I think Miller ends up at either Pitt and NC State, both of which he has strong ties to, in a year.

- First order of business every Selection Sunday....see who the Cats would have to face to reach the Final Four. Second order of business every Selection Sunday...see who will be calling the Cats' games. If it's Eagle or Harlan....golden. Brian Anderson...solid. Nessler or Nantz....Meh. Lappas, Byington, or Spiro Dedes....ugh. We did just fine.

Why I’m Optimistic:

- Cal doesn’t GAF about the SEC Tournament.

- I see little correlation between conference tournament success and NCAA success.

- Sting of defeat and whatnot.

- Getting Grady’s slump outta the way.

- Favorable bracket.

-No one has a guy as good as Tschibwe who shows up every night.

- It’s time all our shooters coalesce in March. Grady, Mintz and Washington. I have them all going big on my vision board.

I've only seen Murray play Morehead in the OVC final; how do they compare as a 7 to Wofford in 2019 or Wichita in 2017? Those games were hell on my nerves, but think the consensus was that those teams were underseeded.

They have quick guards. Tevin Brown is a very good shooter and slasher, probably could log minutes at a high major program. KJ Williams is really their one and only big. He can shoot and handle the ball, will try to take Oscar outside the paint, but Oscar is by far the better player. Cats should dominate the boards. As long as Wheeler and TyTy bring good defensive efforts we'll be fine.

Mundy Randos:

~ Nickelback sucks, Side of a Bullet by Nickleback does not suck.

~ This is a retread take but worthy of repeat, Mintz will have a moment this tourney. It may be to get us over the hump in the S16 or even in the NCG, but dude is going to do something, I can feel it.

~ Would love to see more Tyty / Oscar two man game a la Knight / Jorts during their run. As we were told 100 times this weekend by Dykes, 7 out of 10 times Tyty is money in the paint.

~ Would love to see less of Wheeler shooting anything other than a layup. Guys jumper is broken. Get out on the break, apply pressure in the half court and be a nasty defensive guard. They don't respect you because there's no reason to.

~ Bout the only fella I want off the bench after Mintz/Toppin is Ware. Dude is the type of guy I would hate seeing on any other team but love on my team. Gets under their skin, plays good defense but needs to rebound better.

~ Bout the only fella I don't want off the bench is Toppin. Dude should be eating all of Keion's minutes and starting. Cal's about to find old boy a G-League contract this off season because I don't see a transformational year like Big Dick Nick had coming for him.

~ For a coach who is defense first, with such an older team, we are garbage in the half court. Keion is perhaps our weakest link but Tyty was getting mauled on that end of the floor against UT and even Vandy. Part of Grady being tired is also the fact that he's typically sprinting all over the place on D trying to make up for our guards gambling or getting beat. He's easily our best defender in the back court and that isn't really saying much.
