My and Killa's intramural squad could've beat your current Tar Heel squad.

*Needs to be a long drive contest, no? There’s been a lot of **** talk about that over the years.

*Never played pickle ball but it looks fun, and I’ve heard nothing but good things about it.

*Any word on if we have 0 or 10 players out for tonight?

****** Tits Mickelson getting roasted by everyone. Love it.

*Dance Dad this weekend going to my daughter’s competition in Nashville. You’d think it would suck, but really if your kid is a passionate about anything, it’s fun to watch them do it.

*I do NOT want to start political talk, but it is legitimately nuts to me that Trump would come out and praise Putin for invading Ukraine, calling it genius. Wtf. I’m not sure how anyone can be cool with Russia invading a sovereign nation.

*Pretzel and Bonz, what supplement(s) if any, should I be using. I lift 4 to 5 days a week. I have zero interest in something like Jackd to “rev” me up, just wondering if there is something safe and healthy that would help my progress.

-I’ve got nothing but respect for Pretzel. I watched a really good friend of mine come out of a bitter divorce and get into lifting. It really did change her whole life and perspective. She’s ripped now; healthy and happy.

-People who refer to Gatorade by their flavor and not their color are people I don’t care to associate with.

-Vern would own me in basketball and I’m okay with that. I showed up freshman year to tryouts, took one look around at how much better everyone else was and how they were going to keep on getting better and said “It’s fine. I’ll just smoke weed instead.”

-LSU is desperate for a win at this point to an actual quality team. I hope that cracker *** Will Wade goes back to Baton Rouge with a strong offer up his ***.

-Russia blows. They can’t even cheat good at the Olympics anymore.

-Happily retired from recreational basketball at 35 before I injured myself. Was the wise and correct decision.

-Pickle sucks IMO. Boring as ****. Paddle tennis is fantastic.

-Missed both GYERO Olympics. I know one was because of a bachelor party, and I think I was out of town for the other. Really a stain on my internet career, and I deeply regret it.

-Any UNC grads here? Curious what their intramural situation is like.

-Cats comfortably tonight. LSU sucks.

-That was some finish in Hartford last night. Hated to pull for UCONN. Christ, we owe those sonsabitches.

-Mardi Gras flag going up on the house, which is nice.

-Really enjoying Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats lately. Great sound and pretty excellent songwriting.

-Charleston last weekend was fantastic. Sitting in the sunshine on Sullivans drinking beer for a couple hours Sunday was good for my soul. BONUS: it was too cold to swim, so the beach was basically a massive play area for the kids. Ran them hard with no instinctual concerns.

-Spent some time with our friends whose daughter took her own life last Labor Day weekend. They're doing remarkably well, considering. I am in awe of and inspired by their resiliency. People are amazing.

Would have been cute to see you go head to head with your boyfriend BBDK for that 11th place spot.

- I thought the idea of an ACC Tournament documentary was lame until I realized that I'd go back and watch the same for an SEC Tournament. Some great moments in that event from back when I was a kid...Dale Brown getting into a skirmish, Charles Barkley sitting crestfallen on the Memorial Gym floor, etc. So I'll give it a watch.

- Nathaniel Rateliff had one of the greatest late-night live performances I've ever seen with his performance of "Need Never Get Old" on Corden a few years back. Been a fan ever since.

- Hurley getting run last night was ridiculous, but clearly a case where a guy's history/inclination has given him a strike before games even begin. I assume that refs are always just waiting for him to give them a reason to T him up, deservedly or not.

- Thinking of giving Pickle Ball a try because old/fat.

- Pretzel, my youngest has just discovered lifting, as part of her lacrosse team's preseason conditioning. She especially loves the rowing machine, so we found a Fitness Reality model that might be good for home use. Do you (or anyone else familiar) have any thoughts?

- My dad sold my late mom's car yesterday. She had dreamed her whole life of having a red Mustang convertible. They bought it only a couple of months before her vision began to deteriorate, so she only drove it a short while. Still, he'd take her out in it whenever the weather warranted. He'd held onto that car as long as he could bear, I guess, and was tired of it sitting in the garage as a constant reminder of her and how much she missed out on because of her condition.

- Not a good sign when Biscuit Belly is already closed unexpectedly for the day because "staff needs a day off". They've been open what....two weeks now?

If you're lifting, creatine is the best legitimate* supplement outside of caffeine. You may get enough from your diet as is, but likely not, and if you're lifting 4-5 times a week it's not going to hurt you to add it in. It can give you some bloat when you first start taking it, but that will dissipate pretty quickly. Some places will recommend you "creatine load" but you definitely don't need to--just take 5 mg a day and you're golden. You do not need things like BCAAs, just do a Liquid IV/Gatorade/carb source that fits your diet intra-workout. Make sure you're eating adequate protein. If you track your food, you've probably noticed it's harder than it sounds to get .75-1 g/lb of lean body mass in than it sounds, unless you're on the docboat daily steak diet (the dream, tbh).

I also take fish oil and glucosamine chondroitin. You might consider collagen powder (I like the Vital Proteins one although they're all about equal as long as they're derived from animal proteins); just stir it into your morning coffee. Boom, extra serving of protein and doesn't have a funky aftertaste/GI effect. After you're older than like 22, anything you can do for joint and ligament support is worth doing. Worst case, you feel nothing, but none of these are going to hurt you at all. All fairly inexpensive too.

It's less studied and maybe just making my pee expensive, but I take ZMA at night (zinc-magnesium-vitamin B6). It's not the magnesium that will make your guts explode. I had a horrific time with clenching my jaw at night, especially after I started ADHD meds, and this has helped a lot. This is the one I use.

/meatheadtalk

*legal. If you have gotten some bloodwork done recently that shows your T levels are crashing, talk to your doc about TRT. There are plenty of shady places that will prescribe you bodybuilder doses just because you walk in and say you're sleepy sometimes, but go through your doc if you can.

ETA @KingLlama I'm not familiar with that particular brand, but I'm sure it's a perfectly good option!

-Richie casually "invited" me to play paddle tennis, also had some dudes from Louisville we met at the state tennis tourney tell me about it. Intrigued. No facility for it in Lex...odd because Lexingtons indoor tennis facilities are superior.

-i play pickle with the same 8 dudes as an alternative to tennis on off days or as a warm up prior to tennis. We play hard and fast...it's not boring the way *we* play it, but we're all pretty quick/athletic, to each their own.

You're correct, and I phrased it wrong. He didn't actually praise him for invading. The quote I saw was...

""I went in yesterday, and there was a television screen, and I said, 'This is genius.' Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine — of Ukraine — Putin declares it as independent. Oh, that's wonderful," Trump said when asked about the news. "I said, 'How smart is that?' And he's going to go in and be a peacekeeper."

I mean, my point still stands that it's ludicrous, but you are correct that he didn't specifically praise him for actually invading, just how he was doing it.

You know how smokers abuse their lungs, knowing full well the danger cigarettes is putting them in, but they do it anyway bc it feels good? That’s been me with the sun, basically my entire life. I’ve used tanning beds. I’ll lather myself up with tanning oil to do yard work. I’ve spent years landscaping and working outside with complete disregard for any type of protection from the suns dangerous rays. I just loved the way the warm sun felt on my olive skin and didn’t really worry about it.

well, a couple weeks ago I noticed a weird spot on my right calf. Looked like a laceration (dark red center and red outline) so didn’t think much of it. But it didn’t show any signs of healing, so made an appointment with the dermatologist. I still thought I was overreacting and was kinda embarrassed to even be there. But she took one look at it and my heart sank with her reaction. She immediately removed it and sent it off for a biopsy. Of course, the guy that does the labs was out on vacation all last week. So I got to spend a week getting my life in order. Finally got a call yesterday that it was benign. Felt like crying man. I know skin cancer isn’t a death sentence, but man it scared the **** out of me. That’s the real reason for the straw hats this summer. Gonna start taking this **** serious. I post this so if anyone of you have a weird spot, don’t ignore it. I really didn’t even know what to be looking for but I do now. Take it serious!

-we do that too...then it's more of a date night/social thing.

^I've mentioned my wife's musculoskeletal/nerve issues in here before. This is a game that she can compete in/stay active and enjoy rather than just walking/jogging and doing yoga. She's getting pretty good, tbh. I'm *really* happy to support that.

-Got a buddy from college, now living in FL, and he's all in on pickleball. Apparently runs tournaments, live streams them, is a pickleball TV analyst. Great dude.

-Hyde Pump Stimulant Free, extry creatine, or WRKETHIC. I just rotate those depending on the flavor I'm feeling. Pushed around 40,000 Lbs this morning on 525 reps. What did you do before 7a?

-Imagine saying, "I don't want to get political" then actually typing the word "Trump." 🤣 "Don't want this fire to explode so I'm going to throw this full can of gasoline in the middle." At least you had a questions. Welcome back, chase.

-I've heard, that most skin cancer on men is actually on their legs. Is taht true? I almost never use SPF on them. Older I've gotten the more SPF. When I was younger I'd just burn b/c the next day I'd look Mexican.

Pickle Ball was a core sport in Russell County gym class 20 years ago. Not sure how we were so far ahead of the Great Pickle Ball Boom of the late 10's but we played it A LOT.

Shorts and Reactions:

- Anyone watch “Euphoria”? Seems to be the new trendy HBO hit. I tried it a year ago but couldn’t make it through the first episode when some married dude hate F’d a 15 year old trans person. Little too intense for dad.

- What are the best meats to buy from your neighborhood butcher?

- Where is the ACC Tournament doc? I’d love to watch it.

- Right up there with my favorite time of year along with Thanksgiving-Christmas. Hints of spring, Lent and most importantly basketball.

- Saw Nathaniel Rateliff open for the Kings of Leon, and he and the Night Sweats were absolutely awesome. Still not as good as the Kings who were brilliant live.

- I understand any backlash but I like the Hurleys.

- My dad was really into racketball. Also feel he was always disappointed my friends and I didn’t play more pickup basketball in my 20s.

- Daughter turns a year and a half in two weeks. It’s starting to get cool taking her places. She can handle herself at restaurants and my in-laws have her at the Aquarium today. She’s having a ball. The toddler experience is something else, man. They’re so fun and cute, but at the same time into absolutely everything and emotional rollercoasters.

Walleyball was a great way to sweat off some beers prior to going out and drinking said beers in college.

Grew up on tennis and paddle tennis, now I play neither, because fat. give the guys who play outside all winter credit. At some point, the cold has to provide a diminishing return on your exercise, no?

High school friend of mine was ranked #1 in the world in handball for some time. You don't get rich in that sport.

Work basketball, quit in the mid-30's mainly because of disconnect of why I was there and the younger generation, not worth it.

Per my oil tanker broker friend, verbatim, US producers scared of another collapse in prices so they don't invest. They know Saudi or Russia mostly Saudi now) could open the taps and drop prices making US producers lose money and reduce rig counts.

Walleyball- 3v3 or 4v4 - is a lot of fun and very active. Requires skill so not for everybody.

- WTF is paddle tennis? This is coming from a position of knowledge on racquet sports.

That's a two way street. Saudi/Russian oil would be dirt cheap too...something they don't want and Russia cannot afford. As the largest producer of oil in the world, the US should be leading and not begging OPEC for scraps.

Off the top of my head, and I know this will sound like anti-competition coming from a righty, but I may be for subsidizing BIG OIL that was produced in the US in order to keep prices where they won't scale back.

This would be until alternate energies are affordable and can fade out fossil fuels.

That helps with gas prices, jobs, COGS(inflation), and our national security.

I'm sure I'll get roasted because there's something I'm not thinking of that I should be.

EDIT: Cost would be a key factor, of course.

-not all subsidies are equal...energy and food are national security issues. I'd *kill* to get medicine being primarily made in the US again...India and china do most of in now.

^hard to manage without wasting a **** ton of tax dollars, I know.

-I'd be all for helping Mexico help us in these endeavors. Neighbors/culturally copacetic...it's a no brainer tbh.
