Randos:

-Pearl called Smith the best "jump shooter" he's ever coached. Assuming he's eliminating specialist guys like Lofton. Either way, strong praise for a guy who's coached endless studs. The guy is so silky.

Not sure how much ya'll have watched Auburn, but be prepared to hate KD Johnson. That guy is one of the loudest & most obnoxious players you'll ever see for a college guard....bordering on psycho. Baller, though.

-Big win for IU, but they have the biggest home court differential in the country imo. They're legit like 15 points better at home, even with their worst teams. They can beat anyone there, but struggle to beat even the bottom feeders on the road...been that way forever.

Woodson's insistence on giving Xavier Johnson the lion's share at PG is their biggest issue. He is awful.

Still, Purdue + beating OSU by 20+ are two signature wins, and they'll surely have a few more nice ones at home...they'll be dancing this year, unfortunately.

-It's cold as balls

-The brilliance of Dawn FM, aside from the incredible production, is in the sequencing & narraration...it just flows so nice. No clue how he came up with Jim Carrey...but it just works.

It's a "singles" world in Pop/R&B/Hip hop music today. Very rare to find actual concept albums anymore that are designed to be cohesive, or tell a story, from start to finish. It's really special in that regard.

-The new Game/Kanye 'Eazy' joint is a masterpiece, imo. Absolutely wearing that out right now.

-My little Murphy dog had legit 1/4 of her ear bitten off yesterday in a routine scuffle with a friend. Poor thing. :(

-Bowling League...literally getting worse and worse the more I bowl and practice. My god what a frustrating damn game. It's pretty similar to golf in that regard, only maybe moreso. It makes perfect sense why Golf would be so incredibly hard...but Bowling? It's maddening to me.

-Caesars Palace getting a Peter Luger. Sweet. The Vegas outposts of classic places obviously don't match the original ambience...but still pretty dope, and accessible. Always enjoyed the Rao's out there until the covid kilt it.

-Absolutely worship a cold & packed winter sports weekend. If you can't, get a life.

- I don’t remember who all they had, but anytime we face Auburn and they are ranked this high it takes me back to the Chris Porter days.

- With recruiting battles and the Memphis/UT thing and now UK/Auburn for a decent stretch it would seem Cal and Pearl would have more of a notarized rivalry. Pearl likes UK too much I think to let it get there.

- Finally off oxygen. Stress test yesterday and never dipped below 92 and was back up to 98 within 30 seconds.

It’s weird going through the motions and being smart about health as my take has always been “I’m fine”. My mom and dad were both the same way and my wife has used that to motivate me to be different than them.

Saint this lady is!

- Down to 255. Medically they want me at 235-240, but this is pretty damn skinny for me. Diet has been the same now since about 1/7 where I eat oatmeal around 9am, a small snack for lunch, and whatever for dinner around 730.

Nothing else the rest of the night no matter what. I’ve overcome the comfort eating issue I’ve always had and that is most likely the biggest issue I face.

- UK@1pm and Titans/Bengals @4pm

Tomorrow looks fantastic! Probably throw on some ribs to be ready by the football game.

Pearl is envious of Cal being at UK. Similar guys - big ego, big personality, suspect reputations, outsiders. Cal now has the greatest job in college basketball. He’s home on the big stage. Pearl craves that. You can be as good as you want at Tennessee, Auburn, Memphis but until you get UK/UNC/Kansas/etc, it’s not big enough for a guy like Pearl.

Thinking back to preseason:

Better than expected-
- Tschibwe - thought All-SEC good, not AA
- Washington- thought he would be Johnson/Herro good, he’s better, IMO
- Wheeler- thought he’d be good, he’s been sensational at times

As expected-
- Grady - didn’t expect him to shoot quite this well but I wish he was more consistent overall
- Mintz
- Toppin- not quite the leap i hoped for but he’s been solid
- Collins- thought he’d struggle
- Ware

Disappointing-
-Brooks- no leap
- Hopkins- getting there but he’s been terrible a lot
- Allen

Are Auburn fans referring to themselves as a Blue Blood in jest? Yea?

I feel like I have a decent smell test for these things, but you never really know with these ******** down south.

The amount of investment being put into that Lexington soccer team is something. As a soccer ball and parent of ELITE YOUTH SOCCER talent, I’m thrilled. Just hope it works.

We're venturing into the world of Lexington Youth Soccer this Spring. I'm sure it will be different than the youth soccer program I started playing in 5th grade in Russell Springs.
