* Damn, even though those "late" games have me up until midnight or later, it's always a damn nice way to wake up after a big win.

* I used to love getting those HBO/Cinemax guides in the late 80's/early 90's. Don't think I didn't go straight to the Friday/Saturday night, after 11pm sections to see what softcore porn was going to be playing that month.

* Went down a rabbit hole of old TV show bumpers that used to play after a sitcom/tv show.

Mount Rushmore of TV Show Bumpers:

- UBU Productions ("Sit, UBU, sit. Good dog;" followed by the Paramount theme)
- Stephen J. Cannell Productions (The guy pulls the paper out of the typewriter and throws it in the air)
- DIC (You know you always laughed and called it DICK)
- Gracie Films (The Simpsons. "Shhh" in the movie theater.)

You could talk me into Castle Rock (Seinfeld) or Starry Night (Night Court).

* Speaking of the last two, that early-to-mid 80's HBO introduction to their Saturday night "Feature Presentation" was a sign **** was about to get real in little MattsCats' house. Under a blanket, big bowl full of popcorn (the ones that popped on the stove top), 2-liter of Mt. Dew, and maybe a batch of Pillsbury cookies in the oven.

* We're getting into big derby prep race territory time. Fair Grounds is STACKED this weekend, and the Lecomte Stakes has the current prep point leader (Pappacap) and a horse that has already won a prep (Epicenter).

Give ole dad Epicenter. I am also looking at a real long shot (Call Me Midnight) that could play into some nice exotics.

Keeneland in ten weeks. Think I'll go with yellow and blue for opening day colors.

* Always a treat to see a new Barstool Pizza Review and Dave pulls out a 9.4 for the place.

The Joe and Pat's (Manhattan) one is still the best one just for the craziness; crazy lady and bloody homeless guy interrupting Dave, the gay couple bashing the place, and the old WWII vet.

* Found tons of old VHS tapes (the big ones) and a working VCR. Talk about reminiscing for hours. One was just 90 minutes of me sitting up the camera behind home plate and the neighborhood friends playing wiffleball.

And a lot of farting on camera. Farts will always be funny.

* Bengals for the upset Saturday.

Straight Cardio does suck ***. Any time I can substitute in some round ball instead of just *running* I will 10/10 times

With that being said I haven’t done any cardio since a mens league tourney March 2020

* COVID thoughts.....

- the CDC continues to spread MISINFORMATION, releasing a study yesterday that shows natural infection alone provides significantly better protection from the virus than vaccination alone. Read it HERE
- I guess Calipari is committed to wearing his KN95 (which, fyi, the CDC estimates are 60% fake/counterfeit) 100% of the time, so long as it's not during a game, in the locker room, while be interviewed, in public....well, he's basically gonna wear it ALL the time while isolated in his office and just long enough to upload a quick video to Insta.

* Game thoughts...

- my biggest concern, by far, is the way Wheeler was completely shut down by bigger, stronger defenders. We are so #blessed to have a deep bench, but that's given our future opponents a strong game plan
- there's no player I enjoy watch go "hero ball" more than Davion Mintz, and when he plays that way, it's because we desperately need it. there's never been another UK team where the "go to" player in a tough game is the 6th man.
- jones said in the postgame show he's never seen a bigger student section, and that they took up half the arena. so i'll say it again......that crowd was terrible. totally underwhelming, and we never let them be a factor.
- I've always hated buzz Williams for totally ridiculous personal reasons = hair plugs, his stupid dancing, and his insistence on wearing a vest.

* We gonna just let it go unnoticed that the Olympics tip off in 3 weeks, and that the powers that be are not allowing any outside ticketed guests?? Talk about a hometown crowd. Every single venue will be packed to the gills with communists.

* You cannot overstate how weird the gyrations and antics and yells and traditions of those dorks at A&M are. Probably not a bad idea to update your cheers at some point over the past 100 years. The finger pointed up in the air like youre shooting a gun thing is sooooooo f'ing strange.

* My plan today = easy 12 miler. Then a 30ish minute weight sesh. Nothing over 35 pounds, and just rounding out the ole physique. Maybe go knees over toes at some point, too. Hopefully I'll have a chance to insult some other less sculpted exercisers while I'm at it.

I work with a lot of A&M people.

One dude joined this fraternity where the new members weren't allowed to drink their first semester, and in their second semester they could drink, but not with any other members. So say you went into a party and saw another member there drinking a beer. You had to leave; you couldn't even hang there while the other guy was drinking.

I asked him "so this is some sort of fringe group, right". "Nope", he said, this is a prestigious thing to be in". Weirdo.

The "Cadets" at Texas A&M have no---as in zero--affiliation with the military. The uniforms, the boots, the swords the military regimes are nothing more than fraternities playing dress-up soldier. It's the equivalent of UK fraternities deciding to buy a bunch of uniforms and start marching and drilling around campus for no reason.

Weird as F.

As for me, traveling a lot, getting my kids through college, dating in my 60's is like shooting ducks on a pond, down 75lbs. since last year with more to go, 5 1/2 years sober...enjoying the ride.

As for GYERO, right before I quite posting here was me at my worst. My bottom as we say in AA, both from an emotional and a sobriety standpoint. I was a dick and I own it. BBdk, Anthony, WCC---my apologies as I think you three probably got the worst of it. And I'm sure I owe others the same apology but I won't take up the time to mention.

As for old man advise: If you are in a bad marriage--get out. If you think you have a drinking problem--you probably do. If life sucks--change it.

Peace and enjoy the ride.

-I have a salesman (nice guy) that became an LSU football fan a few years back: has friends down there/UK moved his tickets/wanted to root for a winner.

^Pops by my place today , starts talking about last nights game...I humor him for a bit then say "y'all dropped a tough one to Bama last night."

-he's an alright guy...but I do not abide that ********. Pick a team, buddy.

Does Texas A&M have an incredible alumni network in Texas or something?

Again- I just don’t get it. You’re telling me there are teenagers who see that ish and think “welp, that’s for me!” without there being some sort of unseen (to me at least) benefit?

Oh yeah, it's a cult thing. They're a top 5-10 endowment. F*cking weird as ****.

Wett, if it makes you feel any better, I don’t recall you being a dick to me - at least no more than the usual GYERO back-and-forth. Good hearing from you.

His whole reason for reclassifying and joining mid-season was based on the likelihood of him being in the '22 draft, no? I mean he was never going to be here next season.

Under the current rules, he wouldn't typically be eligible. Something has obviously changed, or some loophole found...? I assume that's why it's just now being reported.

Guess we'll find out soon.
