I knew some cheerleaders in my time at UK, and the lake stuff is pretty vanilla…god bless them all.

Ruby’s was great Friday, I’d like to think my steak burrow helped the cause for the Bengals…even called up Chad and Willy to offer my support.

Have long heard Billy Reed is a POS. Now he’s gone and hurt Matt’s feelings too.

Snow-meh we didn’t get that much here.

Mahomes got his groove back yesterday, mercy.

- Happened to be in Gatlinburg during the first half of Saturday's game, and caught a few minutes while in a LIDS store being manned by a UT uber-fan wearing a BB jersey. He had it playing on his tablet, and he and his buddy were pretty resigned to the fact that they'd run into a steamroller. Had been so long since I'd seen/heard an opposing fan have that same sense of inevitability against a Kentucky team, and I'd forgotten how good it felt. Per Jay in "Otis"....I guess we got our swagger back.

- As seen in my social media oversharing, took our oldest on a tour of several schools in the Southeast last week. Five schools in three days was a bit much, but at least it helped her clarify the type of vibe and academics she's looking for, and begin paring down her list (get pumped, Georgia Tech). Was very cool to be on UGA's campus in the wake of their title victory, and to be in the stadium during its championship celebration preparation. Brought back great memories of that same feeling in Lexington in April ten years ago...just general buzz with everyone walking around with that extra bounce in their step.

Also stepped foot inside Stegman Coliseum and realized that it was my first-ever time inside an opposing SEC arena. Ended up wandering through the bowels of the place before our meeting with a coach, and ended up being able to just walk out onto the floor as well. Crean creepiness aside, it seemed like a perfectly suitable place to watch a game. Gave off Freedom Hall vibes with lighting and sightlines. If there was ever a place that needed to hire a guy with juice, that's the place. Their apathy is understandable, considering that their previous six coaches have been Crean/Fox/Felton/Harrick/Jirsa. That's 25 straight years of uninspiring leadership.

- Speaking of uninspiring leadership (and yes, I know nobody cares about women's basketballsucka), that hire of Kyra Elzy is looking worse by the month. Generational talent in Rhyne Howard, and her final season is being completely wasted. That program is being run into the ground. And I fear Mingione is on a trajectory to do the same.

- Sure would make me feel better if 1-2 of these highly-rated portal OLs had gone our way. Seems like our recent success with linemen, and the reputation of Coach Wolford, would be a drawing card. Still a lot of time, I guess.

I mean no disrespect, but have no clue how some people have the capacity to give a **** about Kentucky WBB, aside from hopping on the bandwagon for a tournament run. Considering real world adult responsibilities, I barely have time to care about UK MBB, UK football, the Reds and the Bengals.

Shew, what a week rando’s:

Some has been shared so I’ll dial it back.

- 1/5 had to get COVID test, positive, given cough suppressant and told to stay in bed rest. Well, 2.5 days later bedrest leads to COVID Pnueumonia and 103-104 temps with lack of oxygen. So Last Tuesday I finally, in complete disbelief, admit to ER at Norton’s and after a week of IVs, steroids, vitamins etc I was released yesterday. Still have 1 week of roids and oxygen to finish, but I’m home!

- Today, 1/17 marks my 15th anniversary. Volare carry out tonight as it isn’t a typical year for us today. Oh well. Wife gets her right hand ring she has been pressing for going on 2-3 years now.

- Down to 260 from 276 a couple weeks ago before COVID. Small meals and COVID, recipe for weight loss.

- UK basketball, I mean it looked EASY, is Cal really this in his own way? My goodness.

- About to release our 8YO American Whiskey. It’s actually worked well and should go over pretty easy.

Along those lines, My 16YO and 12YO ryes came in. 4 barrels of 16YO just completely empty, I mean not a damn drop. Kind of infuriating.

- 12 blueprints to get done while at home this week. Not bad!

Hopefully Anth will post another Facebook challenge to get this thing moving.

Late on this, but one of my favorite memories of Joe B was an old Cats Paws magazine. It was a picture of the whole team, Rick Robey, Mike Phillips, Casey, Goose etc at Joe B's farm stripping tobacco. No shirts, hot as fock. Can you imagine today trying to take a team to a farm for manual labor.

Not sure why the Bengals get ****. We haven't won **** in our lifetimes. We don't talk ****, because we have had absolutely nothing to talk **** about. Whatever I guess.

- Today, 1/17 marks my 15th anniversary.

RIP your dick man. You earned it!

That UT throttling was a bit unique in that we shot damn near 80% or whatever, but it's the result of us RUNNING AND GUNNING. When the ******** announcers are gushing over the fact you're racing up and down teh court, dismantling the opposition with pure speed and crispy passes....MAN THAT'S GD BASKETBALL!

(I'll believe it when I see it in March)

It’s rough these days at U6….

As for Kentucky, this little nugget in ESPN's power rankings is boner inducing: "Since the Wildcats beat North Carolina on Dec. 18 -- a span that includes their past eight games -- only one team (Gonzaga) has had a better adjusted [offensive] efficiency rating . . . than Kentucky."

🙏 Glad you're doing better, Krazy. Was really worried about you as we're considering building a new house and I'm not sure if I could handle paying full price for lumber.

You’re no Ron Mehico, but I’d be glad to help if I can. That Ohio market is just stupid, and being from Ky I just kept mentioning the guy was cousin of mine. Worked like a charm, apparently!

Buddy of mine ran into Stoops at the Boca bar after the Bengals game the other day. Said he was just chilling and taking in the gameday atmosphere, buying old fashioneds for anyone who wanted to sit down with him and shoot the breeze. My friend drank two with him and talked defense. Mark said the CATS will have the best linebacker corps in the country next season, and that he will always bleed Blue.

The emphatic W on Saturday was great on so many levels. Obviously, it was a great way to honor Joe B. It was great to beat the *** of a team and coach who have had recent success at Rupp. It was great to get a signature win against a ranked opponent. It was great to see the offense click on all levels.

But possibly most importantly, that victory may have finally galvanized a divided and skeptical fanbase. Not only did we have one of the worst seasons in school history last year, but the decision to kneel at Florida drove away many fans. A win like we had on Saturday could bring everyone back together again. I hope so because this is a special bunch. It's been a joy to watch them.

I remember the pic. They were HOUSING tobacco, i.e. putting it into the barn, a late summer job.

Stripping, i.e pulling, sorting and tying or pressing the leaves from the stalk, is a winter job performed in the stripping room, usually near a wood stove or other means of warmth.

How does this seemingly always happen considering Anth’s the biggest celebrity to frequently patron the joint not named Calipari, Stoops or Marrow?

Disappointing, tbh.
I’ll give him credit, this time he didn’t whine about it and let it ruin his dinner. Despite 80 and I telling him to send it back, he just dunked it in horseradish sauce and let the good times roll.

It’s like he has the Clark gene for misfortune.

Anth and I both ordered the blackened ribeye MR and they came out closer to MW.

Anth is also behind the Palumbos in the JR pecking order.

Made chili yesterday. Had a pair of chili dogs for lunch today.

Pretty excited about the Bengals win. Should be a solid match up this weekend with the Titans. Kentucky is once again a neutral battleground state.

Mike Stoops giving up a DC job at FAU to be our LB coach, I'll take it.

Six weeks from tomorrow it will be March.

Broke out my Redwing Pecos this morning. Usually only wear them when working cattle. Think I'll start mixing them in a little more often.

I'm going to half-*** the rest of my day in honor of MLK Jr.

Looks like our relentless bullying of Calipari last year has paid off in dividends. Hope everyone that was telling us how wrong we were are enjoying the offense and W’s. You’re welcome dumbasses!!
Didn't know Trump was a fan. Weird thing to read on a Monday.

My theory on the steaks coming out overdone was that Anth mumbles and “medium rare” can sound like “medium well” in a loud restaurant. Also, it always happened at Tony’s and we often had the same server who knew our typical orders so she just always put it in for medium well thinking she was doing the right thing

I’m not sure what happened Friday at Ruby’s though. They never mess up his steak. 🤷‍♀️ A good time was still had by all. I thought for sure that dinner would end up getting canceled due to covid, but we all made it.

* Billy Reed was (and it hurts to say this) at the top of his game during the Joe B Hall administration. One of the preeminent sportswriters in the country, who would have covered Hall and interacted with him and spent time with him quite a bit during that time.

What I'm saying is, I'm assuming he knew Coach Hall REALLY well -- and still, the first thing that comes to his mind upon Hall's death was "yeah, he wasn't a very good basketball coach."

F you now and always, Billy Reed.

* Top 5 people most likely to have a Martin Luther King Jr quote on their social media feed today:

1> Bristol
2> assistbyhawkins
3> PlayBall06
4> SAE
5> wcc

* Took GYERO's advice and fired up Peaky Blinders with English subtitles, and that show is amazing. It's really inspiring me to go stir up some chaos. Start a fight. Incite a riot. Burn down a building. Throw a bomb thru a window. Toss some dog poop in Wynn's yard. Etc. And while carrying out my savagery, scream "BY ORDER OF THE PEAKY F'ING BLINDERS!"

* Nate Bargatze sounds just like a clean Tom Segura.

* Definitely NOT safe for work:

Bob Saget, man.

* My dear friend wcc used to always talk about "building a roster," as if Calipari was a GM. I always got what he was saying, but I'm not sure coach ever really looked at it like that. But the build of this team is incredible, and there's no missing pieces. Like an MLB team running away with 1st place at the trade deadline, and they don't even need to make any moves.

Upperclass leadership
Freshman superstar
Ballhandling
Shooting
Defense
Rebounding
3-point shooting
Deep bench
Role players

It's puzzling how it's taken this long to get the team firing on all cylinders, actually. This team is just so stacked in all the right places.

* I had sex with some cheerleaders in college. Dance team, too. Just an FYI.

* Gonna be hysterical when the final straw takes place, and anth has to swear off his allegiance to Ruby's. Where does one go to celebrate and peacock and show out and floss in that one-trick town once J-Rube's is off the table?

* Had a nice little weekend without a lot to do, so I had a chance to wax my Saucony casual shoes, my corduroys, my Mountain Hard Wear puffy vest, my brewery labeled trucker hat, a couple pairs of Bombas socks, and my double-sided dress belt. Bring on the seasons!

* I watch a lot of Dateline, so one thing I know for sure is when you Google "how to get away with murder," you're gonna get busted. Thank god for DuckDuckGo, imho.

* What a glorious time for the team to be coming together. We're about to run thru a gauntlet, y'all. This is gonna be a hell of a lot of fun the next few weeks.

The best steakhouse in New Orleans is two blocks from my house. Here's their entire menu:

starter = onion rings
salad = wedge
steak = 3-4 cuts
sides = 3-4 options
dessert = local ice cream

That's it. They don't overcook your steak because they won't make it medium well. Even if you ask for medium you'll get an eye roll, and audible groan, a lecture, and they'll point and laugh at you.

This is how a real steak house operates, imho.

To a better restaurant down the street. Only problem is they don't have fancy glitzy rooms and paparazzi waiting to take your pic.....just better food.

Taken from @dlh331 on HOB. Billy Reed should slow his roll on disparaging Joe B:

Billy Reed is as stupid as he is ugly. A comparison of the 3 coaches in the 1973-85 time line:

Hall
297-100 for 74.8%
8 SEC titles
6 Elite 8s
3 Final 4s
1 title
1 runners-up
20-9 NCAAT record

Knight
298-99 for 75.1%
7 Big 10 titles
5 Elite 8s
3 Final 4s
2 titles
21-8 NCAAT record

Crum
312-95 for 76.6%
9 conference titles
4 Elite 8s
4 Final 4s
1 title
19-10 NCAAT record

Hall was 8-8 versus Knight
Hall was 2-2 versus Crum

Have to agree with PTI, have had great steaks there every time.

A little anxious about the game at TAMU. Never know what to expect from the SEC west road games.

Off to get the 4th vaccine shot, because science. If there were only some way to be done with this crap.
