I am up late on a Christmas Eve, not because I am putting together some complicated toy as in years gone by, but because I just watched Pope Francis say midnight Mass at the Vatican. I needed that right now. It was beautiful, and he is absolutely my favorite Pope ever.
My English Mastiff, Minnie Pearl, had half her tail amputated 3 days ago because of a tumor. They got it all and the margins were clean, so that is wonderful, but a 170 lb dog that is the size of a miniature pony with a cone? OMG holy chaos! #bullinachinashop. The Christmas tree is still standing, so that is a plus but my thighs are bruised front and back, and I am getting lots of exercise picking things up off the floor.
I started a new job in registration with Bon Secures Mercy Health in November. I had to have a special appointment with occupational medicine to fit and check my N-95 mask that I have to have with me all the time in case of an emergency, but the mask I wear daily to work is the regular blue paper mask, as does everyone in the entire hospital that isn’t on the front lines with infectious patients.
Most of my co-workers have said they think masks will be a permanent thing in healthcare settings. Yay, I do not like wearing one and I only wear one at work, but I would think if the hospital is continuing to pay to provide those masks for their employees, there must be some thought that if worn and used properly they must have some beneficial effect? Or maybe they just have money to burn.
One thing that I have noticed is that most employees thank patients coming in who are vaccinated.
Merry Christmas to all, and “God bless us, every one.”
