Re: wishing you didn't care about sports as much. If the last 1.5 years has taught me anything, it's that I didn't care *enough* about sports. It's unquestionably the one thing that unites us and should never be taken for granted again.

I used to sort of roll my eyes at those dramatic montages where the narrator speaks to baseball, football, basketball, and what they mean to a town, state, or our nation. Never again. In fact, I think I've determined that full stadiums and a normal school calendar year of sports will once again heal this country. If anything, we should lean on them more than we do. It's healthy for us as it's who we are, and our glorious sports history, outside of war heroics, represents us at our best.

God bless sports, and may God bless the United States of America.

And God bless you, SAECATFAN. 👏🏻

Has anyone introduced the wiffle ball bar, yet? Bar bleachers overlook the field. Catch a foul ball or homer you can take it home or turn it in for a free pitcher. You can rent the field for gyero style games, when not rented you bring your own duct taped ball and bat for bragging rights. Thursday night men’s league, etc.

BTW, I use big red not the traditional yellow.

That intro is dope.

My little princess was the only girl at her daycare repping the blue and white here in greater ATL today. Naturally, the most beautiful and debutante. Other parents picked theirs up early as to save the embarrassment when daddy strutted in to pick her up.

Shiner Bock Octoberfest - $7.99 a six at Publix, solid 6.3. Not mad at it.

Stephen Johnson ruined Lamars Heisman trophy season and beat Tennessee's *** at Commonwealth.

TD Terry beat Florida, Tennessee, AND, Louisville at their places.

Levis has a tough act to follow. Need him to live up to it. Let's roll.

~ It's about Pear of Fvcking Anguish time boys. Ya feel it? I fvcking feel it.

~ Considering a career change, like a fellow bald resident of this thread, considering going from banking to insurance. It's also with my state's farm bureau. /smallassworld

~ My 2 year old has been sick for three weeks since entering daycare. RSV, SMD, let us pray ATKOT. It's also part of what you pay for when you put your kid in daycare.

~ Anyone own a Tesla? I'm about 99% sold on going Model 3 (I'm married to a teacher) and letting it ride.

Much love GYERO, I'll be here shitposting during the game tomorrow.

Regarding football, this needs to be the last season where our out of conference schedule is this embarrassing. If we're truly a program on the rise, then our schedule should reflect it. Our MAC games need to become mid-lower tier Power 5 games like Indiana, Purdue, etc. Our Sun Belt games need become American/Mountain West games. I know UL hasn't held up their end of the bargain in recent years as far as supplying a quality opponent. They're no longer reliable in that regard. It's time for us to improve our opponents ourselves. We've reached that level.

Don’t forget where we came from, man. We are not ^^^ yet. Soon, hopefully. But not yet. Maybe this year changes that. I hope so.

I’ll tell you what - I’ve never liked folks who don’t eat their whole steak. Trimming pieces of fat off and such and leaving it on the edge of your plate - that’s ********. I just housed every morsel of a 20 ounce prime ribeye I cooked in a couple minutes over 800 degree heat. And I’m in bliss right now.

Vegetarians = losers

Fat-cutter-offers = losers

The Sheriff = loser

Finally ventured over to a neighbors that is well known for being a starlight guy. Not bad stuff.

Had some **** from California made with stout and IPA, aged in oak barrels and hit 147 proof somehow. Weirdest bourbon or whiskey or whatever TF it was I’ve ever had in my life.

Charbay or something like that. Odd.

VaTech, 4-0. LFG! Printing money for those not paying attention.

All the money is coming in on ULM tomorrow?!? Well, hmmmmmm!

Many years ago, I was at one of my favorite uncles’ house. Dude is a steakhouse level griller (in my mind, of course), which I didn’t realize at the time, and he slams this huge, perfectly cooked, perfectly marbled slab in front of me.

I start cutting the meat from the fat, and he just kind of watches me for a minute in bewilderment. He proceeds to rip into me to the point I’m questioning my manhood and is asking whether I really appreciate his generosity if I’m only going to eat part of what he cooked for me and disrespect and discard the rest.

I sheepishly apologized and finished the entire thing and realized he was completely right. Haven’t wasted the fat since.

I get that’s not for everybody. And I legitimately only eat a steak once every few months. But I did realize he was right that the fat brings some amazing flavor and shouldn’t be wasted.

Thus ends my culinary simpleton steak take.

That’s right, CSC. And here’s the thing - on a good cut, there are very few, if any, pieces that are “pure” fat. Most of what people are giving to the dog contains at least 50 percent muscle sinew. Huge waste.

edit - another steak thought. One other good (great) thing about weekend steaks is when your wife/kids inevitably can’t eat the entire delicious slab of meat you perfectly prepared for them, is throwing it in a skillet with some eggs Saturday/Sunday morning. Always kills me doing it with really nice cuts, but it is what it is. Nothing like starting your Sunday off with $40 worth of well done skillet cooked prime ribeye covered in egg yoke. But hey, I’ve got a Bloody Mary and two zyn pouches in at that point, so who gives a ****.

* I don’t know how I missed it in years past, but I bought some Dog Fish Head Punkin Ale today, and it is so good. I have had quite a few pumpkin beers from different breweries, and I like them all, but wow, this one will be hard to beat as my new favorite.

* I have wondered for some time if my Akita/Rottie girl, Luna, is older than I thought. I adopted her through a rescue exchange from a shelter in Brooklyn NY. I thought she was around three at that time, but after closely looking at her records pre adoption, I discovered that she was more like five, which now makes her around 14 years old.
We have been through three surgeries to remove tumors over the last 5 years, and she has severe arthritis in her hips. She is having more and more difficulty getting up and climbing stairs. She is also starting to have accidents, which was previously unheard of. For the last week we have been staying in the den because her hips seemed too weak to climb the stairs to my bedroom.
Otherwise, she is alert, happy and has great appetite for her food. She still loves to chew bully sticks and watch the world go by laying under “her” tree.
I have had to make this decision too damn many times in my life and I know it goes with the territory, but I sure wish I had some sort of guidance; some way to know when it is time. I’m sure I will wait too long because I see what I want to see.
Sorry for the downer post the night before football. I love this place, and after all these years, it seems natural to share the good and the bad with Wildcat friends. Dog Fish Head Pumpkin Ale is really good. 😋

* I am so excited for football tomorrow and I will try really hard not to post lady who loves football but doesn’t really have a deep knowledge of the game remarks. Sometimes my love, enthusiasm and imbibing gets the best of me and the thoughts just spill out.

Townie party was good.

Traeger pellet grills are trash. Good idea, foiled by the fact they don’t deliver the necessary smoke required for decent barbecue.

Poor bastard worked as best he could, but that thing prevented him from delivering the goods.

Terie, you and I need to drink some vodka together at some point.

Love you.
Lol. That is so nice. How about some Kentucky Common beer at Alexandria Brewing Company the next time I am in Northern KY. I think you would like my daughter and son-in-law if you don’t already know them. 😊

- Sounds perfect, Teri. I’m sure I do know them, given Campbell County and all. You got a seat at my fire pit any night you want it.

- Glad you said it, kooky. Traegers are trash.

- The OFBB talk caused me to pop a top on a bottle of the 2011 I had in the cellar. First fire pit of the year, good occasion. Good bourbon, but nothing to write home about.

- I think Sound and Fury is my favorite SS album. Listening to “make art not friends” right now. Hard to argue with it.

- speaking of friends, a good buddy of mine lost his dad this week. This has to be the worst part of getting older. I can’t imagine continuing to traject through life, and just seeing ones you cared about just leave. The longer you live, the more you see, too. I guess that’s just part of the deal, but it sucks, man.

- In brighter news, I went to Wally World and picked up a 32 inch roku tv that I can hotspot and watch the game at the lake house. For my entire existence, going back to a lil lad, I’ve taken strength in listening to games out there on 98.5 the bull. Now I’m going to be hot spotting this cheap ***** on the dock, living life the right way.

Your buddy really must not know what he is doing. Flavor has never been an issue for me.

Now I may not have cooked things right or long enough in the beginning but ribs, briskets, butts, turkey, wings, tomahawk steaks, hell even chili had flavor on the Treager.

On a different, my home insurance policy cancelled today after a random home visit. They sent emails to my guy who called asking if I had a trampoline.

Taken a back and not understanding why it mattered, I proceeded to let him know I had 2 trampolines.

He explained their stance which I laughed at and asked if it’s not wise to move it over right next to the pool when it’s in for some extreme fun.

Having a friend as your insurance guy has its perks!

Rack Wynn… that’s why you, me, your FIL and dad need to play Augusta before our elders pass on.

Enjoy the steak talk, fat is flavor:)

Traegers are fine, easy as hell to use, but no you will not produce the “obnoxious” smoke that overwhelms Anth’s nostrils. Accept for what it is, and it’s fine. Having said that I am looking at an offset competition smoker…ready for the next step.
This.
