Doesn’t “crowded areas” pretty much swallow up everything else? Isn’t this in effect “No masks in suites. Tough **** for the rest of you poors?”

At this point, why would any educated individual suggest there was a way to stop Covid?

I mean Trump stopped people from coming to our country, and short of that what was truly stopping it?

Mother in law’s flight back to Hartford got canceled last night (ironic with us being in FL). Not going home till Wednesday now. Paternity leave starts as soon as workday ends on 9/3. Henri ate up 3 of the 10 days we were gonna have no help. Thank you very much!

- Reds/Marlins Saturday night with a Tone Loc, Naughty by Nature, Rob Base and Vanilla Ice concert after. Mid-late 40's ladies were going haaard. Absurd? Yes. Tons of fun? Absolutely. Plus, getting to see Naughty by Nature do "Feel Me Flow" was a nice summer flashback.

- Going back to some weekend posts... I love being an uncle. It's just a really cool role to have. Kids weren't in the cards for me and the wife so I've always tried to play a bigger part in my nieces lives.

- Just saw where the Ky lottery is now taking credit cards for Powerball/other games. Hey, I'm all for personal responsibility but... that just doesn't seem like a good idea. I cringe at what people are going to do to themselves.

- The "VIP room" at Rupp is a weird dungeon.

- Rickhouse Pub has some pretty good bar food.

@80 Proof my aunt posted this on Facebook and I thought you might appreciate it.

We are grieving the loss of one of the greatest. Jack was Ralph’s dad’s best friend and a true friend and mentor to Ralph. You won’t find a bigger UK fan or a more skilled angler than Jack. We will miss him greatly.

If I have to wear a mask to watch UK football at "The Kroge" for a few hours, sign me the f up. I'll still be drunk on bourbon and shouting my head off.

I'm a Republican, believe everyone should have the ability and freedom to make their own decision on what they put in their body, but I chose to be vaccinated. And if I have to mask up to have have a somewhat normal life doing things I like to do, so be it. I feel safe from being vaccinated, so bring on the huge crowds of Covid carriers, it's time for Fooooooootball in the Bluuuuuuuuuegrass.

-Reds🔥

-movie night with the boys was a hoot. Goonies still holds up. What a movie.

-Peruvian chicken for family dinner was ON POINT. Putting that in the rotation. Sloot should post the recipe.

-Ruby's dinner on Friday was just weird, not in a bad way, but one of the more random crew events in history. Marrow joined us for a good portion of the evening in the Silks Room. I believe we're invited to some party he's throwing next month.

-I just don't understand these clubs at Rupp. $3,000 per person, per season, for access to a club. That does include booze and food 2 hours before and after the game. But a family of 4 paying $12k to have a few beers before/after a game(not in the game) a few times a year seems insane for even me. I can get 2 Bud Lights for $8 less than 50 yards away at the Hyatt with my firends, and now the Live! place has 2 massive sports book style bars right across the street. I've tried telling them from the start it's way overpriced.

-The masking rules at CWS just mean they won't be enforced. "Crowded areas" lol. K.

-Great to see the SC unanimously smack that little *****.

-Starting Boone: A Biography By: Robert Morgan, next. Feels like a good lead into the fall.

-Wynn is right about Sturgill, expectations are too high at this point.

-finished off 2 bottles of Down Home(they were both close to empty) last night. That Rye really grew on me by the end.

-Roy Kent, he's here, he's there, he's every f*cking where, Roy Kent!!

-Not as close to my uncles as I once was, but I suppose that's part of the deal when you become one and the torch is passed. Big responsibility.

Covid thoughts, skip if you want.
-Thought this was a pretty good NYT article on the uncertainty of rona, the awful messaging, etc. Worth a few minutes.

-Daily Mail UK: Best study to date found cloth masks to be about 9.8% effective, when worn correctly. Blue masks about 10%. This matches up with all the studies before covid said. Will be interesting to watch it scrutinized but it seems like common sense and explains why no discernable differences can be seen in heavily masked areas vs not. Wearing a piece of cloth half assed on your face shouldn't make a difference. Want good protection buy an N95. They've never been the magic cloak that some portrayed them as.

-RE: "if only there was a way out" Unfortunately, (and yes I thought this thing was a nothing burger last summer, would fade away, and was media hype, I was incorrect) it seems like we're going to be dealing with it for awhile. Israel struggling and being one of the more vaccinated places in the world is really a big concern. Especially when summer waves for viruses are relatively small compared to winter. The one way out is accepting the reality and dismissing the silver bullet. Vaccines are going to help reduce hospitalization and severity but like the flu, which has vaccines, this is going to be part of lives for a long time and most of the actions we've taken to slow the virus were pretty much worthless. If everyone just stays home. If everyone just wears masks. If everyone just gets the vax. If toddlers just wear masks. If everyone just gets the booster. There's no zero covid.

Didn’t 80 have at a dude’s windshield with a club once? Seems a vague GYERO memory. Apologies if I have mistakenly maligned him if my recall is faulty.
🙋‍♂️
I mean, you're not wrong.
Any Reds fans on here that just saw that postgame interview with Tyler Naquin, wow. What a solid, good, down to earth dude. Hell of a run he’s on, too.

I’m sure the resident Guardians fan resents nothing.
I actually feel that management (not ownership, but management) has done a pretty good job over the past half-dozen years for a small- to mid-major team. There have been a few exceptions (Michael Brantley, for one), but most of the moves they've made have made sense, either financially or in terms of roster management. But I do feel that they gave up on Naquin way too soon. He'd be a huge asset right now to an outfield that is essentially trying to hit with foam water noodles.

- We're all gonna get COVID, guys. Could be this year, could be five years from now. It's probably just gonna be a severe cold. But we're all gonna get it. Might as well lay back and enjoy it.

- I know I spin nostalgic about it every single year, but I just can't get enough of the LLWS. Love everything about it. Weird this year with no international teams. But it was always even weirder when the European and Middle Eastern teams consisted solely of American kids whose parents were on local military bases.

We've mentioned before how there are certain teams, outside of our own favorites, that just stick with us. A few of mine are the 1991-92 Arkansas basketball team (MayDay/Oliver), the '86 Bears, and the 1989 Trumbull (CT) LLWS team, led by future NHL star Chris Drury.

- Ended the final non-CFB weekend by watching "A Star is Born" with the wife last night. Movie ran long, but there's no denying Lady Gaga's talent. Probably the most talented actress/musician crossover of this generation, right? Also a big Bradley Cooper guy. Talented and approachable, it seems. Could watch a game with him.

-nashville wedding smackdown/randoms:

-friday: lunch at bar taco on south 12th. Good street style tacos. Oyster taco was the star of the show. Duck/chorizo/fish were solid. Mrs Rudd enjoyed the margarita.

-grabbed a pair of nice britches at Imogene and Willie.

-checked into hotel, element by Marriott. Apparently they gave us the wrong room...as a woman and her teenage daughter(friends...also there for wedding) attempted to get in an hour or so later. I was bare assed and had to bolt to the bathroom. Had they shown up 3 minutes earlier the woman would've had to have a serious Convo with her kid about what she had seen/heard. Anywho, I'm stuck I'm the bathroom while the wife entertains the daughter as the lady went down to desk to sort out the issue. They gave them another room. Good times.

-dinner at husk. Rarely do restaurants live up to the hype...this one did in spades. Everything was really good...field pea salad/shrimp and grits were the highlights. Pork ears lettuce wraps were good as well. Cocktails were on point, per my better half.

-Saturday:coffee/savory pastry at 3 brothers. Wandered about for a bit. Wedding and reception were nice. Didn't eat there... Bolted with another couple after Mother/groom dance to a place called "answer". Outstanding and not expensive at all. Pork cheeks w/risotto for me... spaghetti w/ bay scallop and arugula pesto for the Mrs. The Panna Cotta was very good.

-hit the Parthenon Sunday, grabbed a nice hotdog from a vendor at centennial park and hit the road.

-batteries recharged.

Here's the recipe for the chicken. We made it with thighs/breast instead of a whole bird, though I've had it both ways. Anth grilled it on the egg, but you can roast it as well. Added some buffalo mozz and basil to the salad and served with mashed potatoes (ht: Whole Foods prepared foods... I didn't have time to make them from scratch) and aspargus.

Peruvian chicken

The ones from Whole Foods were sour cream and chives and paired really well with the green sauce. Roasted potatoes wound be good too.

I too, made Aji Verde for my Cuban Mojo Pernil yesterday (with Goya marinade) Grilled pork shoulder on Egg during a hurricane. Wife and I were saturated tending to the fire...

Black beans and rice.

Kenji’s Mojo recipe (fresh oregano and Mint) destroys the Goya stuff. Not
Close.

that green sauce though is magical. H/T Sophie’s Cuban. It is the star of the show.

Considering she's mediocre at both...it can be denied.

This generation...Whitney, JLo, Jennifer Hudson, Queen Latifah, Madonna....

The big group golf outing, drinking beers, gambol, etc is always a good time- but its also tough to beat an early evening walking 9 by yourself.

Ryder Cup Szn. Whistling Straights is looking beautiful- Patrick Reed wont let the US get beat.

Auburn's football coach, who is a bit of a meat head and the local media have come out swinging at him- is taking all the heat for downplaying Covid, and then getting Covid which is likely going to put a lot of others in quarantine too... Nobody cares about their health- they are angry about it messing up the season.

Not necessarily proud of it- but these are delicious. Add a little extra butter/milk, obviously.
