China has like half the world’s population or something. The fact they couldn’t win overall golds or medals is an upset imo. It’s like a 2A county school coming in and whooping Trinity in football.

China doesn't eat steak umpteen times a week or take jack3d. They barely eat to begin with, which is impressive.

Population is not in the equation.

So, the “real” Ford Broncos have hit the streets now, and they are still diminutive little things. Not a Bronco by any stretch of the imagination. They don’t even look new Ranger frame big. Just a little jeep thing for the jeep girls. OJ will be pissed.

Surely someone here has one now?

SIL got one. It's a Suzuki Samurai with a wider body kit.

I’m pretty upset about it.

Thankfully the traveling meat man is posted up at the sketchy gas station with a big sign that says “FREE huge shrimp with BIG and THICK meat bundle”, so I’ll get some of that sweet frozen meat I guess.

Wetzel called out participation trophies pretty strongly in that article. One thing I’ve learned is that everyone hates and ridicules participation trophies, unless you win one yourself, in which case it’s hard earned and well deserved and despite appearances definitely is NOT a participation trophy.

Is third place in the world really a participation trophy?

A Varsity letter is a participation "trophy".

Nobody seemed to give a damn about getting a token representing a player's involvement on a team until old and bitter dipshits began to use it as yet another example of the younger generation ruining a society in which they control little to no power.

OTOH the Bronco also looks like a Transformer with all of its edges and grooves and stuff and if it’s a real life Transformer then sign me up.

I'm on #TeamParticipationTrophy

Everybody who gets one knows that it's not as good as getting a championship trophy, but it's a nice consolation prize. Kind of like taking home the ugly chick from the bar. Not your first choice. Not your second or third choice. But at the end of the night, everybody's in a good mood. And that's what it's all about.

NOPE. As a 10 year old in mid-70's, sub 500 records got you nothing. Not even sure runner up got a trophy. If you sold raffle tickets, you got the league jacket. That's it. Maybe a pizza/pool party for your team.

The new Broncos look like a chick car. A Suzuki Sidekick or whatever those chick cars were in high school.
I know a dude that still has a SS and drives it around, lol . Surprised you can still get parts for them . I agree though , back in the day I thought of them as a “ chick “ car. I have friends that consider Mustangs as “ chick cars” . Thoughts ?

Once again MY Warren Co. South Little League team is out here representing KY. Not a team from Louisville or Lexington. Playing Illinois after beating Ohio 2-1 yesterday. Once again, Warren Co. is THE youth baseball Capital of KY. One thing that may be their undoing, hitting. They have solid pitching though.

Big Nick Richards looked pretty solid in Summer League yesterday, pulling for the guy.

BJ Boston signed a guaranteed $2.5 million / 2 year contract with the Clippers yesterday. Largest ever guaranteed contract that was drafted in the 50's in leagues history that did not play overseas before drafted. Go BJ !

We won the city championship in baseball when I was 13. I had a pretty crappy game (couple of errors, 0-for), but I had a win and a save in the previous two games on the mound.

My coach came up to me and not jokingly said, "son, you won the MVP award... for the other team" and then walked off. I'd have rather had the participation trophy than that award.

I did. Born in 1982.
-Huh…no ****. 🤷🏼‍♂️

-I don’t remember if we got participation trophies but they did give out the Most Improved Player Award to the worst player in the team every year in baseball. My team had Gary that struck out every time and walked back to the dugout crying, poor kid.

He did light up when he got that trophy and the whole team surrounded him giving out high fives and hugs. We knew the deal and were happy to play along for ol Gary.

-Not a fan of mustangs post 70s, in fact, I really don’t like them. Want an American sports car head to bowling green, ya dig?

-Off the next 3 days, looking like a pool day with the pup today.

-Training legs right now and hate the thought heading to the gym, but after a couple of sets of squats I’m usually pretty pumped for it.

-Looking hard at some TRT. Any recs? Got tested a couple years ago and doc was like hell nah you still chock full of that stuff. Been in talks with TRT Nation and read good things on line, but somewhat expensive being as if I went through my PCP it would be basically covered through Florida blue health insurance.

Is there anyone here that didn't get a participation trophy for youth league? They've been around since at least the 80's
My friend Allan Houston and I received participation trophies for flag football at Lyndon Recreation back in 1977 (and by "friend, I mean we were both on the team and he had no interest in talking to me).

Sadly, the trophy appeared to zap his desire to put forward any effort or desire towards achieving actual success in the sport of football and would eventually lead to his lazy *** slumming in the NBA.

I feel like Houston would have been more appreciated in today's NBA.

-Yeah, changed my tune after seeing how much the kiddos enjoyed their medals from Tee Ball. Very cool. At a young age, imo, participation trophies are perfectly fine. They were still hungry after seeing how much nicer the champions trophy was.

-Nothing about being an Olympian is a participation trophy. I didn't read the article, but if that's the take, it's ridiculous.

-Easy steak tacos. Skirt steak with simple taco seasoning, sauté chopped up onions and bell peppers in butter until brown, top however you'd like. I use sour cream, cheese, jalapenos, hot sauce and avocado. Always with rave reviews.

-No one likes to make fun of sports writers AND then defend them out of the other side of his mouth like Ol' WCC. What a conflict for that guy. Wonder why he does that?

-That Obama Birthday Party looked like a rager. Good for them.

-Woke up with an unexplained bruise on my arm that is bad enough I should recall the incident. Had some cocktails but not enough to not remember this. Getting old is weird.

-Solo Stove and Camp Chef first runs were this weekend. Highly approve of both products. Was unsure about the pellet style grilling but basically having a convection oven with smoke is actually perfect for me as I've been using our oven more than BGE lately. The sear box add on was the right call. That sucker gets to 1000 in no time.

- Ricky Gervais' show on Netflix...."After Life". Goodness, it resonates right about now. Alternately funny and haunting and beautiful. Sorry to get all IN MY FEELS regarding a TV show, but Episode 5 of Season 1 might be my all-time favorite episode of television.

- No genre of YouTube video more worthless than adults doing "REACTION" videos. Why in the world would you watch a video of someone watching a DIFFERENT video? The other day a FB friend posted a "REACTION" video of himself watching a movie that came out 20 years ago, and that he has seen several times. Not entirely sure he has completely grasped the idea of a reaction. What an utterly worthless waste of time and energy. Good grief.

- Gift card dinner at Malone's last night. Yikes. Coasting on past reputation at this point. Even the Lexingtonian was below par.

- Props to that French marathon runner who knocked off an entire row of water bottles during the race so that the rest of the pack couldn't grab any, then promptly finished 17th. Karma and whatnot.

- Did I miss why Rax used to wrap up his field trip Coke in tinfoil? I've literally never heard of that before. No ice in Jessamine County back in the day?

Bc when you went on a field trip as a 3rd grader, and couldnt bring your Yeti with you to the Zoo- the foil kept your RC cold.

Pretty common, Llama. Tradesman were known for it, before they simply moved on to Big Gulp sized Mt. Dew's that they throw all around their work site.
